OS X 10.11.6
Hardware Compatibility

This is a hardware compatibility list ONLY for OEM desktop computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a desktop. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your x86 desktop computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.11.6 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Kernels are available for most configured machines

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.11.6 builds only.

Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Note: Please add whether your device supports QE, Quartz Extreme, graphics. Try playing a movie with Quicktime Player.
Note: For suggestions about table headings, please join the discussion here.

HP Compaq 8300 Elite Intel Q77

Clean install onto SSD via USB 3.0 flash drive on USB 3.0 port, using Enoch-rev.2839. Fairly quick and painless install - a couple of bootflags, and kexts in Extra/Extensions folder. Running two 23" monitors (one via VGA port, other via HDMI port). Have found NullCPUPowerManagement kext not guaranteed to work with updates, so always delete IntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from System Extensions manually. Onboard Card Reader, which worked in Mavericks and Yosemite, doesn't read cards, though status light comes on. Out of curiosity, tested and got Integrated HD 2500 Graphics working(mostly) - used Display Port to VGA adapter, and set BIOS to Integrated Graphics Enabled and Intel VGA Controller

Components used:

  • Intel(R) Core i3-3220 @ 3.30Ghz
  • RAM 16GB DDR3 1333Mhz
  • ASUS NVidia GeForce GT 610 2GB DDR3
  • Samsung 840 EVO SSD 120GB on SATA0 (Dark blue socket)
  • Seagate 600 Pro SSD 480GB on SATA1 (Light blue socket)
  • Bluetooth: GMYLE Bluetooth 4.0 Dual Mode Micro USB Broadcom BCM20702, on USB 2.0 port -> Logitech K811 keyboard and Apple trackpad
  • WebCam : external Apple iSight - works OOB (auto opens FaceTime) with FireWire PCI card

Component Status:

  • Shutdown Y/N: Inconsistent
  • Restart Y/N: Inconsistent
  • Sleep Tick.png: Consistent
  • USB 2.0 Tick.png
  • USB 3.0 Tick.png
  • Ethernet Tick.png : Built-in Ethernet port with IntelMausEthernet V.2 kext
  • GPU: NVidia GT 610 Tick.png built-in drivers + GraphicsEnabler=Yes
  • VGA Tick.png

  • HDMI Tick.png
  • Audio Tick.png: FireWire PCI card -> MOTU FireWire audio interface
  • DVD Tick.png (Onboard)
  • Card Reader: No.
