OS X 10.4.3
Hardware Compatibility

This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.4.3 builds only.

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

On-Board NIC does not appear to work with any patch (Adding device ID to IONetworkingFamily.kext did not work). Realtek audio does not appear to work natively. Mach Resest doesn't work. USB Ports function. SATA recognizes HDD but not the DVD Drive. A few modifications and elbow grease and you could get this to be bearable! No
VT7 ABit Some USB devices work so does the PS/2 thats about it; no Ethernet or audio. I had it set up with 1 IDE hard drive and two CD drives on the second channle all were recognized. I never tried adding any 3rd party drivers though, so some people might have better luck. no

Seems fine, more testing needed
P4P800-E Deluxe Asus Everything except the Marvell Yukon Gigabit LAN works with 10.4.3 and Jas patch. Sound comes through Line Out, not normal speaker jacks. no

P5LD2-VM Asus Lan, IDE/SATA (Intel ICH7 South Bridge), Graphics work like a charm on osx86 8f1111A(g). Need to edit AppleAzaliaAudio.kext to get sound output (2.1 mode) working. Tried also with ST-Lab X600pro; this works beautifully CI and QE supported. yes
KN1 Extreme ECS SATA is not working. Disable onboard USB in BIOS if you do not have both a USB mouse and keyboard. If you leave it on and have a PS/2 keyboard plugged in with a USB mouse (as is my case), pressing a key on the keyboard will freeze the system. no
NForce-3A ECS SATA is not working. Onboard NIC doesnt function (easy enough to fix with a PCI one). Everything else took right off without any problems. NO PS2 recognition of course no
K8M890M-M ECS SATA & IDE working, OnBoard Sound working, PS/2 ports working (both mouse and keyboard), AGP working (using nVidia 7300GS 256MB PCIe) Haven't tested USB, Onboard NIC, Parallel, COM, OnBoard Video yes, using OSX_1048_AMD.iso

Used OS X86 8f1111 with wesley's patch (macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.iso). Everything works perfectly. All I had to do is put the disc into the drive and press that power button. Using nVidia FX5200 128MB AGP graphics card, works, but no 3D acceleration, still a rather nice user experience. I will be trying out the ECS 915-A (1.1), which has the GMA 900 onboard video, which should provide full 3D graphics acceleration. In all, it's a highly recommended setup.***Make sure not to press the "Caps Lock" key while using, or else the keyboard will cease to work, and you will have to reboot your system, or you can correct it by disconnecting the keyboard from the I/O interface twice, and operation will continue*** Yes, using macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.iso

8IDML Gigabyte Worked without any issues with JaS 10.4.8. no
8IPE1000 Gigabyte Tried with P4 3Ghz(prescot?). Doesn't start install with HT enabled. With HT disabled appears to install fine (though it took ages). Booting without HT takes too much time so aborted furter testing without HT. When installed without HT and booting with HT crashes horribly. Not further tested. This system worked fine previously with 10.4.1 (except for my Radeon AIW9800). UPDATE FROM ANOTHER USER - I have an GA-8IPE1000-G and it's working flawlessly with the 8F1111 version of 10.4.3. CPU is Pentium 4/400 Mhz FSB, overclocked to 2.4 Ghz/470 Mhz FSB. All onboard hardware is supported. My system is running with P-ATA drives and PNY manufactured Nvidia Geforce 6200. Using Apple's stock VESA driver. Will not play the PPC version of VLC player - DVD's hang the system. If the Nvidia 6200 is replaced with an OLD MX400 w/32 mb ram, DVD movies play fine in a "half size" window. Larger window sizes give slow video performance. no
K8NSNXP Gigabyte Installed to external USB 2.0 with no problem using the generic JAS patch. Neither onboard NIC works, added a Netgear FA311. Onboard audio works. OSX sees optical drives (Pioneer DVD burner x 2 and an old CD/RW) on the nVidia ATA controller with no issue, but no RAID support from the nVidia SATA controller or the GigaRAID ATA controller. I haven't tested it yet, but OSX does appear to recognize the Firewire controller. Boots to external drive using boot.ini file and CHAIN0 file. no

GA-KN8 Pro SLI Gigabyte Installs and works great but hangs when trying to reboot. No network. Can't find SATA drive. Microsoft keyboard won't work (might be PS2 port?) More testing needed. Used JaS Patch
