HCL 10.4.4
From OSx86
Note: Because of the introduction of the Macintels, this list can also be used for hardware that you have tested with the new Macs! Just make sure that you let us know you're using it on an Apple machine.
This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.4.4 builds only.

USB 2.0 works fine and IDE works great also. The sound card that comes with it (Realtek ALC880) should work, but you might need to patch it first. Otherwise this mobo works 100% great on the setup I have right now. | Yes |
| KV8 Pro | Abit | Installed fine and works great; no flaws; must install AppleVIAATA.kext for SATA support, Onboard NIC and Sound not working. Also had to use IOATAFAMILLY.kext andIONETWORKING.kext and IOUSBFAMILY.kext from 10.4.3 for anything to work perfect. (is there anywhere online to find these without goign throu 10.4.3 again? - i don't think so as it's illegal to publish kexts, you might try use Pacifist to extract the kexts from your original 10.4.3 developers dvd.) | No |

Used IOATAFamily.kext from 10.4.3 for SATA. USB 2.0 works great. Firewire appears to be working in system profiler, but have not tested. Audio out of the blue port works with AppleHDA.kext from 10.4.3. See this forum for details. Don't use AzaliaAudio or AC97. |
No |
| 915G COMBO-FR | MSI | Works really perfect. Only had to install IONetworkingFamily.kext for Ethernet, AppleAzaliaAudio.kext for sound, and ApplePS2Controller.kext for PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse from my working 10.4.3 Installation. [edit] Sound Cards
Under "Audio Out" and "Audio In" please specify how many channels and of what type! Likely possibilities: line in, line out, analog 5.1 out, analog 7.1 out, SPDIF, microphone. Use /Applications/Audio MIDI Setup.app to explore the capabilities of your sound hardware, and even if you don't have "surround sound" gear, it's easy to test analog 5.1/7.1 - just plug into the other channel's ports and use Audio MIDI Setup to generate a test tone. This data is crucial to some users - think media center type uses - and extremely hard to track down anywhere! If you're feeling generous, also toss in audio sample rate and bit depth in addition to channels.
