HCL 10.5.4
From OSx86
This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.5.4 builds only.
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

PS/2 Keyboard & Mouse, even during install. No patches. No USB ones needed. Video board: first I installed NVKush, NVDarwin and NVInject and got NVidia 8500 GT 512NVRAM recognized but without QE/CI. Then removed /System/Library/Extensions/NVinject.mkext and /System/Library/Extensions.mkext (do this as root from bash), rebooted and it just worked. Haven't tried to get IGP working (Intel 3100), but it isn't detected by Windows too, anyway, because I put PEG/PCI instead of PEG/IGP in BIOS :P (I'll try and post results later). <edit> Ok, tried PEG/IGP and it doesn't work, it seems to be a motherboard/chipset hardware issue. However my nVidia external card has both DVI and VGA output. Using a DVI-to-VGA converter and using second VGA output to second monitor did work out of the box (in both Windows & Mac). </edit> Multiboot: had Windows XP installed before installing iAtkos. iAtkos installed multiboot gestor, recognized Windows XP and both O.S. boot just right. I had to create a new partition on empty space with fdisk, and set type to 0xAF (not sure, type help and use HFS+ number which I think it is AF), then go to disk utility and format it, don't put spaces in volume name (such as Mac OS X, My disk, Spaces between words, etc...) or NVKush and other patches will fail to install. Patches selected for install: Bootloaders: Darwin EFI Bootloader & Chameleon Bootloader; Additional Patches: Software Update Enabler & OHR; Drivers: NVkush, NVinject (don't install if you have 8500gt and want QE/CI), EFI strings for nVidia, 8xxx, 8500 GT 512MB, Intel ICHX SATA, Other Intel SATA, Speedstep, Intel Speedstep new, NTFS-3G & Realtek R1000. | PC-EFI: unknown
Vanilla: unknown | All patches included with iAtkos 4.1i, didn't install additional patches. |
