HCL 10.5.8
|
This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.5.8 builds only.
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Install Method: iAtkos 10.5.7 + Chameleon 2.0 RC2 r 640, then Apple registration, do not reboot yet, then repair permissions, then reboot, then 10.5.8 update from HAL. First 20 tries: I could not make it work. Secret=Fully read Iatkos welcome screen. Secret=if unsure, leave the install package unselected, fail, read the logs & try again. Tried Netkass latest cutie booty, and funny "bag of hurt" says I have to upgrade my firmware. (Netkas is the best). Note: For some reason, If during registration the user creates no password, everything fails. I could not find any InsanelyMac references to this issue. If you transfer settings it fails. Do not Time Machine or fails.
After 10.5.8 upgrade MSI Nvidia N9500GT-MD1G-OC will be: Chipset Model:nVidia GeForce 9500 GT/Bus:PCIe /PCIe Lane Width:x16/VRAM (Total):1024 MB/Vendor:NVIDIA (0x10de)/Device ID:0x0640/Revision ID:0x00a1/ROM Revision:0x/Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz/Depth:32-Bit Color/Core Image:Hardware Accelerated/Quartz Extreme:Supported/HDMI=1280X720 0r 1080i (the three outputs are simultaneously active, nvidia no green). HDMI:1280X720 looks soft. HDMI:1080i looks like crap (looks good in Windoze though)/DVI and VGA look awesome.

Voodoo Kernel 9.7.0, no EFI, no smbios (Chameleon takes care of the SMBios) | How to install: all defaults, add OHR, uncheck appleDecrypt and check dsmos instead, Chameleon v2, Kernel Voodoo 9.7.0, disable TyMCE, NVInject for graphics (for NVidia 7xxx, 8xxx or 9xxx it works perfectly well. Try other for GTX2xx for newer video cards, leave VoodooHDA by default for inboard sound card
Choose a language, install, reboot on DVD, repair permissions, boot on your Hackintosh HDD press enter at Chameleon screen, and enter -f busratio=17 (or your own cpu multiplier, which is your default cpu speed divided by 200, for example if you have a 3 ghz cpu, the value should be 3000/200=15) if you encounter kernel panic. If it doesn't resolve the problem, try deactivating the firewire in your bios (IEEE1384 in the advance tab, onboard device configuration) With those instructions, you should be able to enjoy the welcome video with sound, and believe me, it is an experience!

Default works fine Patch needed for audio+dual core, NIC didn't work for me,
I just used a Realtek PCI card.
| K8NGM2-NBP | GeForce6150B; nForce 430 |
installed netkas's Universal Injector for ATI & nVidia later: blue screen w/pointer until display sleep/wake; using "hot corner" workaround. Going to try new Chameleon w/integrated injector. Additional note: this board has been a learning experience ;-) Many trials & failures getting everything working; only iDeneb would complete w/ AnV cpus=1 to boot install... iATKOS & iPC would not install. Network dead after wake from sleep; must reboot to recover. |
Voodoo9.5.0 & Qoopz kernels unstable; AnV 9.7.0 works w/cpus=1 no other boot options or fixes. | No |

Qoopz and AnV kernels are unstable, Voodoo kernel works well with -force64 and cpus=1 flags | Cool'n'quiet is supported with GnericCPUPowerManagement.kext with GenericCPUPMControl application from iDeneb v1.6 (extract with pacifist) |
| K9A2 Platinum | AMD 790FX Chipset (SB600) | Used iDeneb 10.5.8 Combo Delta Update to update from 10.5.7 with ANV kernel. To get ANV kernel to work see issues section!

Issues: Time Machine not working. Use Carbon Copy Cloner [28] |
*The issue seems to be cpus=1 is deleted.

| GeForce 7900 GT 512MB Sonic | Palit | 1) Darwin bootloader detected only 256MB so I had to update ROM as described here (I didn't use the one from ROM repositoty because it differed a lot from the one I dumped from my video card, so I just changed 4 bytes myself according to the instruction).
2) After that OSX successfully booted with any of (and I guess any other) NVdarwin and NVinject (check that IOProbeScore is set to 0 in Info.plist) - had to do this step to be able to do the next one since I couldn't boot even in safe mode without injectors. You may stop here if you like, HW acceleration is already supported, but I like EFI way more, so here is the next step. 3) Used OSx86Tools to add EFI string and removed all injectors. |
