This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

- MB rev. 1.1, Bios F7
- Vanilla Mac OS X 10.6.0 retail DVD, booted using a boot CD with Chameleon2 RC3's cdboot without having any other OS-X installation.
- I initially followed this guide and used the updated files from this post. Afterward I changed to AsereBLN Booter 1.1.7 (based on Chameleon RC4 / PCEFI10.5), newer kexts and made a number of DSDT.aml modifications. Combo update to Mac OS X v10.6.2 without problems. Everything works in 32 and 64 bit.
- Audio: Realtek ALC888 works with LegacyHDA.kext and DSDT fix.
- LAN: Realtek 8111C (works OOB)
- SATA: works with AHCI in Bios. (IDE: not tested)
- GFX: GeForce 9800 GT 1GB (works with GraphicsEnabler and a disabler.kext which disables only the AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext responsible for mouse lag)
- Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S223B DVD-RW (works OOB)
- DSDT fixes for RTC, USB, sound, speedstep, shutdown, reboot and sleep
- Only two kexts needed: LegacyHDA.kext, FakeSMC.kext (v.2.5)

- I install from another harddrive running OSX
- If install retail version and upgrade from Apple you will do a lot more patching. It works but too much work.
- The easiest method was Using SnowOSX_Universal_10.6(432)GM-v3.5 to install 10.6 with all options selected.
- Then i used Snow_Leopard 10.6.2 by Hazard. I installed:
- Chameleon RC3 10.5
- NVEnabler (for my 9600gt)
- ElliotForceLegacyRTC (keeps cmos from resetting)
- ALC889a
- ---You don't have to have your dsdt patched when you select those options---
- After Installation completes you need to delete dsmos.kext
- If you get a kernel panic use -v and boot again, sometimes works!
- ----If you want update from apple. Update then restart
- boot into another OSX to remove some files after update completes
- delete dsmos.kext and get sleepenabler.kext for 10.6.2 (old kext will cause KP)
- After new sleepenabler, my sound died. Install ALC889a_sl_10
- If you get a KP from AppleHDA.kext, Then delete it!
- All should be good depending on other minor hardware you use.

| Cheap card (about 15 Euros) on eBay. Works with a little patch (10.6.0 needs no patch): You have to edit the device ID in /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/Plugins/AirportAtheros21.kext from 168c,21 to 168c,13. Also you have to download AtherosFix.kext (and also edit the string to 168c,13 in AtherosFix.kext) and then install AtherosFix.kext with KextHelper b7 - working in 32 and 64 bit mode.
