HCL 10.7.0/Portables

From OSx86
Jump to: navigation, search
OS X 10.7.0
Hardware Compatibility

This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.7.0 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.7.0 builds only.

Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Note: Please add whether your device supports QE, Quartz Extreme, graphics. Try playing a movie with Quicktime Player.

  • Install Method: Changed the name of the thumbdrive to Mac OSX Base System and patched with nawcom's mbr patch http://www.osx86.net/view/1526-mbr_patch_10.7.0_11a511_updated.html After installing, install PS2controller kexts(Important). That fixed my graphics resolution and internal touchpad and keyboard.
  • Bootloader: Chimera
  • Kexts: Download from http://www.osx86.net/view/1266-acer_aspire_4741g_lion_10.7_kext.html . Install with Kexthelper.
  • Issues: Wifi does not work. Cannot wake up from sleep.
  • Others: I prefer that you do not set the password on first boot. In case you forget to install PS2controller, you can still install it with multibeast without password. Install macdrive on Windows to edit Mac OS X in Windows in case you accidentally installed the wrong kext.

  • Install Method (Later upgraded to 10.7.1 with no problem): Apporx. used http://geeknizer.com/install-mac-os-lion-10-7-on-pc-hackintosh/ and if you are installing in MBR partition, you need to find modified OSI Install package. I used Chameleon as a boot loader instead of iBoot. Again, I roughly followed this guide as I gained expertise after installing it more than 5 times :D
  • Bootloader: Chameleon (installed with version 755 but now using Chameleon-2.1svn-r1446 (also tested 1565) and it helped my graphics card working)
  • Kernel: Vanilla 64-bit mach_kernel and extensions.
  • Kexts: most of them downloaded from kexts.com
  • Issues: screen goes blank when connected to external HDMI monitor (my TV in this case).
  • Other: DSDT is required for a good bit. I extracted DSDT from my Win 7 and Mald0n helped me to fix errors (Thanks Mald0n).
  • Remember to back up once you have running Lion so you don't ruin it after some changes. I used Carbon Copy Cloner. It makes image of your system and in the event of any mishap you can clone the image within no time.
Parts Device Working Notes
Processor Intel Core i3 350M Yes Out the Box
SATA SATA AHCI Yes Out the Box
Graphics ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Yes Chameleon 2.1svn-r1446 above (tested with 1565) and MultiBeast 4.x.x for Lion. EDID fix
Audio HDA (Realtek ALC272) Yes with VoodooHDA (Modified, see download link) Internal and external mic working after using modified Voodoo from here. Modified Voodoo for alc272 sound card. NOTE: Do not forget to copy the VoodooHDA.kext (included in the download) to S/L/E using kext installer after installing 'VoodooHDA-2.7.2.pkg' (also included in the download) otherwise you will get kernel panic (I got one).
Wireless Atheros AR5B93 Yes with IO80211Family.kext It would not work during first boot, but after next boot it works.
USB 3 USB ports Out the Box
Ethernet Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet BCM 5788 (Devicd ID 14E4:1692) Yes Installed modified kext and inserted my Device ID in Info.plist. Download Kext from here. Remember to remove another kext called BCM5722D.kext as it might cause incompatibility. I have not tested with both kexts present in S/L/E
Battery Integrated Yes AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext & AppleACPIPlatform.kext
Trackpad Elantech PS/2 TouchPad Yes Need to add my Device ID in "Info.plist" of ApplePS2Trackpad.kext (located under ApplePS2Controller.kext->Right click->Show package contents to view)
Keyboard Integrated PS/2 keyboard Yes Working using VoodooPS2Controller (now using ApplePS2Controller.kext) along with AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext
Web Camera 1.3 MP Suyin Corporation Yes out of box

Installed on a MBR boot partition as I already had Win 7. I used modified OSI Insall package for MBR to be able to install under MBR. I did clean install using USB drive. I made install package in one USB thumb drive and installed Chameleon boot loader in another USB drive. After installation, it did not detected my keyboard and touchpad so I had to use a usb mouse and followed this tutorial to make my keyboard work.Fix you keyboard if it is not detected

You have to replace the following from lion 10.7DP1 onto lion 10.7 final install:

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementClient.kext
AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext
mach_kernel.ctfsys Mach:kernel

and also add Match_kernel_dp1_atom_apic to root directory,

com.apple.finder.savedstate from library/saved application state/
ubiquity from privateframeworks/ubiquity.frameworks/versions/A/ubiquity
com.apple.finder.plist from library/preferences/com.apple.finder.plistFinder
32Bitsfinder app Lion dp1 from system/Library/coreservices

You need to change the above finder app in order to have a working 32Bit finder, for lion 10.7 has a default 64Bit finder and it will not work in your 32 Bit system otherwise.

Also if you wish to install onto an MBR partition you have to use Nawcom MBR patch.
