OS X 10.7.3 Hardware Compatibility Portable Computers Desktop Computers Hardware Components

This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.7.3 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.

• ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
• Please add hardware into tables.
• This is for 10.7.3 builds only.

• Install Method: Mac OS X Install Lion 10.7.0 with Chameleon 2.1. Upgraded to 10.7.1 - 10.7.2 - 10.7.3 from Software Update
• Bootloader: Chameleon 2.1svn 1872 (at moment 07/05/2012 (dd/mm/yyyy))
• Kernel: Vanilla 64-bit mach_kernel and extensions.
• Kexts: Need (modded) Kexts for battery, wi-fi, Ethernet, SATA (as Internal disk)
• IMPORTANT: For the PCI Configuration Begin problem you must replace the AppleACPIPlatform.kext (from Snow Leopard 10.6.7) and modded IOPCIFamily.kext (I have the 2.6.1 version)

• 1. Make a copy of the Lion DMG on USB
  2. Replace all kext with the modded (FakeSMC in both path (E/E and S/L/E N.B.)
  3. Install the bootloader (opt for the original or one from ErMAC)
  4. Boot with -v -f GraphicsEnalber=yes (the last if optional)
  5. Format the HDD in GUID
  6. Install the System
  7. Boot from the Installed System and replace the kexts
  8. Enjoy the System! :)

• Install Method: Set HDD mode to "Compatible" in the BIOS. Use the UniBeast method to create a bootable Lion install USB drive. Slipstream this IOATAFamily.kext into the installer's /S/L/E so that the hard drive is recognized. Boot to the USB drive and install Lion 10.7.0. Boot to the hard drive using the USB drive and update to 10.7.3. Do not reboot. Run MultiBeast, installing the kexts described below. Finally, install the latest Chimera and reboot (be patient).

• Bootloader: Chimera 1.9.2.
• Kernel: Vanilla 64-bit mach_kernel and extensions.
• Kexts: FakeSMC.kext, LegacyAppleRTC.kext, EvOreboot.kext, JMicron36xATA.kext, AHCI_3rdParty_SATA.kext, NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, VoodooHDA.kext, AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext, ApplePS2Controller.kext, AtherosL1CEthernet.kext.

• Runs Tiger 10.4.11, Leopard 10.5.8, SnowLeopard 10.6.8, and Lion 10.7.3.

• Install Method: For Lion was used the Genuine Apple Lion 10.7 method restored on USB stick and Chameleon, then MyHack 4.1+ and over that was installed Chameleon Wizard 3.5.1 with Chameleon-2.1svn-r1814

The wireless card Intel 3945 ABG was replaced with a Dell 1500N Draft. CPU Core2Duo, Graphic Card, PS2 TrackPad and Keyboard, Battery, Ethernet, Card Reader and Sound are the things that needed to be repaired and fixed.

• Bootloader: Chameleon-2.1svn-1814.
• Kernel: mach Kernel, Vanilla x86 genuine Kernel and extensions.
• Kexts: VooDooTSCSync.kext (1.1), AppleIntelFrameworkBuffer.kext (1.4.20), AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext (1.0.0d1), ApplePS2Controller.kext (1.1.5), VoodooBattery.kext (1.0 for Lion), AppleBCM440XEthernet.kext (1.2.0 corrected), VooDooSDHC.kext (1.1d1), VoodooHDA (0.2.1)
• Issues: Sleep does not work - black screen on reopen and no solution found, yet. I don't use it. Shut down/Restart both working properly.

• Other: The new DELL genuine battery inserted works for about two and half hours (tested on watching movies).

|Method 2 : iATKOS L2 + Lion 10.7.3 Update. Patched after each install with AppleFrameBuffer next in Kalyway. Resolution 1280 x 800 x 32. Sound, Internet , Trackpad work. Trackpad : multi fingers scrolling & 2 finger for secondary button only. Other things work like listed in the table above.

• Runs Leopard 10.5.8, Snow Leopard 10.6.7, and Lion 10.7.3.

• Install Method:

Install iAtkos L1, After of Installation, boot again with DVD iAtkos l1, Go to utilities/Terminal and remove all IntelHDGraphics, reboot and boot without problems, Download and install 10.7.3 Combo Update. Don't reboot delete all AppleIntelHDGraphics and AppleIntelHD3000 of /System/Library/Extensions, Repair Permissions with Kext Wizard or Kext Utility.

If you have GraphicsEnabler you will get quartz enabled. However you will lose sleep/shutdown function. The PC display will shutdown and the hard drives but you will have to hold the power button in to turn the pc power off. Its annoying but nothing too bad and it wont damage your laptop because the hardware is already switched itself off.

• Runs 10.6.8, 10.7, 10.7.1, 10.7.2, and 10.7.3. No idea about 10.5.X, but most likely.

• Install Method: I used the iBoot + MultiBeast method to install Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then used xMove to install Lion. Use "PCIRootUID=1 -x" in iBoot when selecting osX boot drives.

Afterwards, I removed the default wireless card, the Intel 5100 AGN, and replaced it with the natively working Atheros AR5B93 card. The card broke functionality with 10.7.3 but I restored it with a Kext designed for Snow Leopard. Kext is linked below for the Atheros AR5BXX series. If your wireless isn't working, I suggest getting this card. It is easy to replace and is only around $10USD. Wireless, Battery, Ethernet, and Sound are the things that needed to be repaired with SL and Lion.

• How to patch DSDT.aml

You need 2 different dsdt editors to get it to extract, make changes and compile without errors. The first is DSDT Editor which can me found here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=223205 And the second is DSDTSE, which can be found here http://www.osx86.es/?p=610 And mac would probably help. I was able to do the whole process from my laptop because I had a non dsdt system running on this setup prior. But I believe that there is version of DSDT Editor for windows and linux.

Using DSDT Editor your going to extract your dsdt, Once extracted open up the patches and navigate to SandyBridge. I applied all patches including the audio patch the comes from the download below (re-save the file with a txt extension because all the other patches seem to be txt files), and compile. If you get 1 error, navigate to line 18 it should say something along the line of (//TNOT/) and delete the whole line, compile, that will get rid of the error. Now save the file as a .dsl extension, if you save the the DSDT.aml file from DSDT Editor it will bring the line 18 (//TNOT) back. Now open the new dsdt.asl file that you saved earlier with DSDTSE. You see that the (//TNOT/) line should be gone, and save the DSDT.aml file from that app. You should also be able to patch the DSDT.aml for atheros 9285, the patch is contained in DSDT Editor's directory of patches, I believe firewire and bluetooth can be patched as well but I havent found any solutions feel free to add.
