OS X 10.8.2 Hardware Compatibility Portable Computers Desktop Computers Hardware Components

This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.8.2 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.

• ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
• Please add hardware into tables.
• This is for 10.8.2 builds only.

Install Method : Custom 10.8 thumbdrive installer+chameleon (ML ready)+combo update 10.8.2+10.8.2 supplemental update. Can use myhack method to make thumbdrive installer. Different post install workaround though. Also work with iatkos ml 2 all tested can work.

Bootloader : atm efi Clover_v2_rL828 , before i use chameleon (ML ready).

SMBIOS : Macbook Pro 10.1 retina.

Additional note: boot safe mode (-x) to get into desktop until you patch NVDAGF100Hal.kext.

Installation media:

Bootable USB-Stick made with the original "Apple Mountain Lion Installation App" (10.8.0 12A269) from the Appstore.

Installation method (without DSDT):

• Boot from the prepared USB-Stick with connected USB-Keyboard & mouse (no boot-flags needed)
• After successfull installation: Restart (using USB-Stick as "Bootloader"), boot up the new ML-Installation and setup your working OS X for the first start. Graphics and webcam should work at this time (KB & mouse still via USB)
• Install PS2-Drivers for ML from Google search. - Now keyboard, trackpad and stickpoint should work
• After reboot OS X should boot and shut-down without any CMOS-problems
• Install "AppleIntelE1000e.kext" from the file called "HP 8440p kexts" (Download here). – After reboot the Ethernet-card should work.
• Install "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" and "VoodooBattery.kext" to get Battery-Symbol work. You find the kexts in file "AppleACPIPlatform & VoodooBattery" v1.3.6 (Download here)

Update to 10.8.1:

Update to 10.8.2:

"ACPI rollback" is the key! - After 10.8.2 update installation you have to change the "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" with an older Version like 10.8.1. - I changed it with the file from the Battery-Symbol-Driver I wrote above.

• Install "10.8.2 Update" from Appstore and do not restart !
• Delete "AppleHDA.kext" under S/L/E
• Change "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" with older version (use Kext Utility or other)
• Reboot system
• Install "10.8.2 Supplemental Update" from Appstore
• Reboot system and enjoy

Soundcard:

Use VoodooLoader.app from here and take a look at this guide. - the "VoodooLoader.app" runs the "VoodooHDA.kext" which is located under "VoodooLoader.app/Contents/Rescources/" after system-boot is finished and stable. I´m using the latest version (2.7.4) of "VoodooHDA.kext" in that path. I edited "info.plist" located in the kext as described here (Solution 2 with Vendor-ID: 8086 and Device-ID: 3b56). To get the Volume Slider work, you also have to change the value as described here.

DSDT:

I found that DSDT after I installed OS X 10.8.1 - So I installed the DSDT (and removed the "UseKernelCache=Yes" in "org.chameleon.Boot.plist" after install, because the trackpad didn't work any more). After that, everything works fine and I think the System is now loading faster than without the DSDT. - You have to decide for yourself if you want to use it or not.

Envy 17 3270nr

Notes Trying to install from USB stick results in 'waiting for boot device', presumed to be due to the default USB drivers not working. The solution was to copy the USB installer to a spare partition on the internal hard drive (I used gparted on ubuntu), then boot from the USB stick, but select the partition on the HDD at the boot menu. Had most luck with myhack installer, unibeast didn't work for me. Need to boot with GraphicsEnabler=no cpus=1.

These information and linked kext is based on same model infos in HCL 10.8.0 but tested again a real hardware

• Install Method: USB method and AppStore ML 10.8. Updated to 10.8.1 and then to 10.8.2 without problem (both OTA, not combo updates)
• Bootloader: Chameleon/Chimera working with following method: Completely re-formatted hdd to MBR, 4 primary partitions (2x Win7, 1x Linux Mint 13, 1x OS X hpf+). Used backup one-key DVD's to restore Win7, including Win7's bootloader. Installed Linux Mint 13 which installed grub2 in place of Win7 bootloader, Win7 appears in grub OS list and boots. Used diskutil only to format last partition to hpf+, used Super-Duper backup to restore OS X to this partition - Chameleon/Chimera does not install. Boot to Linux and added grub entry to chainload Chameleon, got boot0 error, searched web and using usb stick for terminal this time, copied (dd if= of=) boot1h to OS X partition, now boots grub2 -> Chimera 1.11 -> OSX. Think the problem is in the new hdd block sizes. I did not necessarily want to triple-boot, but found that if you disable wifi in BIOS, it will disable the card in Linux (wi-fi and bluetooth) and OSX (bluetooth only, since wifi not working anyway), and there is no way to turn it back on without Win7.

Get KP sometimes which I think was related to BT prefpane that wants to auto-connect to keyboard and/or mouse. Bluetooth seems to take up to a minute to initialize (BT icon goes from "broken" symbol to full BT symbol during desktop start-up). Disabled both those (in prefpane-> bluetooth->advanced and uncheck both options), seems to be more stable now.

Trust me, I wasted a lot of time trying all the settings/bootflags/kext to get the graphic card working, with no result. What does work is the hd3000. You get only a signal of the hdmi. So you need a external hdmi screen. The internal laptop screen doesn't work for me. The resolution of the external screens (via hdmi) goes up to 1080p.	No kext/dsdt needed

Satellite L750-212

When you install iAtkos ML2 do not forget to have "Graphic Enabler=No" and "Kernel Cach= NO". Do not choose only this options : Bootloader : Option : Built in Ethernet Patchs : Choose only : Fake SMC, Disabler, EvOreboot, Patch RTC. Drivers : Choose only : Sata/IDE : AHCI and PS2. All others drivers in the table will be find using google search.
