MacPorts
From OSx86
MacPorts is a powerful tool that enables you to install many common Linux applications on Mac OS X.
[edit] Requirements
- Mac OS X (Tiger or Leopard)
- Xcode Developer Tools (2.4.1 for Tiger or 3.0 for Leopard)
- MacPorts
- usually the latest version of X11
[edit] Why MacPorts?
Since you can grab GIMP, wget and others from other places on the net you might ask yourself why you should be using MacPorts. The answer is simple: you'll be able to use the latest versions of these applications and customize them as you want. You could for example build a native and current version of wine or build a native version of GIMP (without X11).
Just give it a try. Installation is not trivial, but you'll love it. Once I have the time I might add some more instructions on this place. I don't know if it is even needed - check the discussion page.
