HCL 10.13.1/Portables

macOS 10.13.1
Hardware Compatibility

This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.13.1 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Kernels are available for most configured machines

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.13.1 builds only.

Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Note: Please add whether your device supports QE, Quartz Extreme, graphics. Try playing a movie with Quicktime Player.
Note: For suggestions about table headings, please join the discussion here.

Hardware Name Chipset Notes Patches Used
Processor Intel Core 2 Duo T9600. Upgraded from T4200 To install Sierra to this PC you have to change processor to which supports SSE4.1, like i did paying 20$ in eBay for T9600. Then set SMBIOS to at least MacBookPro6,1 in Clover.
Video Card nVidia GeForce 9400M G 256 MB To get full potential, I used NVIDIA WebDriver Updater, it downloaded and installed latest driver. In Clover not needed are nvda_drv=1 and FixDisplay_0100, and put checks on InjectSystem ID, NvidiaWeb. Acceleration works fully, it shows 1440p videos from YouTube without glitch. External FHD monitor over HDMI also works fine.
Chipset nVIDIA nForce MCP79MX Install using Clover setting CloverEFI 64-bits BiosBlock IO or you will not boot Mac OS or it's installer from USB. Works with boot flags: -no_compat_check npci=0x2000 dart=0
Audio Realtek ALC888S-VD, Codec ID: 0x10EC0888, Revision: 0x0202, Sub Device: 0x10250160. Doesn't work out of box. You can get internal speakers work using AppleALC and Lilu (insert audio layout 28 using Clover, remove all other kexts and patches related to sound). But best solution at the moment is to use patched AppleHDA.kext. All inputs/outputs work, the sound is perfect. Follow http://forum.osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1946-complete-applehda-patching-guide/page-37. Use audio layout 13 for it. Also then you must put these patches using Clover to AppleHDA - 8b19d411 replace to 8808ec10, 8319d411 replace to 00000000, 8a19d411 replace to 00000000. Or sound using patched AppleHDA will not work. The only thing I have not solved yet - is recovering sound from sleep mode.
WiFi Atheros AR5B91 (AR5009). Upgraded from AR5007EG Works out of box
Ethernet Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5764M Gigabit Works out of box
Touchpad and keyboard Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad and Keyboard Only external keyboard and mouse work out of box. So use https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-voodoo-ps2-controller/downloads/ to make work laptops parts. VoodooPS2Controller.kext
Brightness control Works out of box
Sleep Works out of box
Sleep Shutdown works out of box. For restart you have to instal OSXRestart.MasterChief.kext.
Battery Battery management doesn't work out of box. Works with ACPIBatteryManager.kext from https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-acpi-battery-driver/downloads/

But first you have to patch DSDT (search for "[bat] Acer Aspire 5737z" patch). Also check "Drop OEM _DSM" in clover, turn on "FakeLPC_0020"and delete NullCPUPowerManagement.kext from Clover or system - so you also will have native CPU speedstep.

Card Reader Jmicron JMB38X (VEN_197B&DEV_2381) Doesn't work out of box. To work - you need to install JMB38X.kext and HSSDBlockStorage.kext.
Integrated Camera Chicony Acer CrystalEye Webcam CNF7017 (Vid_04f2&Pid_b044) Works out of box
Bluetooth Broadcom 2045 Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Vendor ID:0x0A5C, Product ID:0x2101) Works out of box
USB 4 USB2.0 ports Only 2 ports work out of box. To make work all ports I changed USB0 to EH01, USB1 to EH02, USB2 to EH03, USB3 to EH04 in DSDT. And installed USBInjectAll.kext (from RehabMan GitHub) to system.
