Revision as of 20:12, 30 August 2011

macOS 10.7.0
Hardware Compatibility

This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.7.0 builds only.

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

  • Hard Drives : Western Digital 500 GB / Western Digital 1Tb
  • DVD-Rom Drive : Toshiba Super-Drive
  • Video Card: Asus ATI Radeon HD 5670 @ 1920 x 1080 with QE/CI

(make sure Graphicsenabler=NO to enable correct functionality of HDMI/DVI/VGA connections)

  • Ethernet : Realtek 8169
  • Audio : Via VT1705
  • Followed this guide: Madl0n's Guide as .dmg i used: downloaded lion from the app store ->locate the download -> right click -> show package contents -> Contents ->SharedSupport -> Mount InstallESD.dmg ->open mounted drive -> use BaseSysmtem.dmg (Hidden File) as source Restore in Disk Utility -> go on with Madl0n's Guide
  • tonymacx86 Xmove Guide works fine too: [3]
  • For installation and first time boot you will need to boot with -x flag
  • First time setup also requires you to disable 'Legacy USB' in the Bios to boot into installation if using a PS2 keyboard.

If however you only have a USB keyboard, you have to enable 'legacy USB' and use "USBBusFix"="Yes" when booting up to allow installation to continue with USB devices. This can the be later added into boot.plist

  • When finally installed, use MultiBeasts Easybeast Option to install required kexts.
  • For Audio, you can use voodoohda but that doesn't have a function volume adjuster.. meaning volume is on or off

For full functioning Audio, use ViaHDA kext [4] Go to S/L/E and remove voodoohda, then drag the viahda kext to kext utility to install

  • DVD-Rom Drive : NEC PATA DVD RW
  • Video Card: NVidia 8500 GT 512mb with QE/CI

(full function with Atkas.org ATY_Init.kext)

  • Ethernet : Realtek 8139 PCI
  • Audio : Built-in with VoodooHDA.kext
  • Bluetooth : E-blue usb bluetooth dongle for Apple Magictrackpad
  • Install by restore the dmg backup using Disk Utility from a Macbook Pro 8.1
  • After restored to a MBR disk partition using Chameleon 2 RC5 to add bootloader then use "Extra Lion Installer" from [5] to add the needed kexts to Extra folder.
  • For video to work install ATY_init.kext from Atkas.org using Kextshelper. GraphicsEnabler=yes, NVEnabler and NVInject tested not working correctly.
  • For Audio, you can use the latest voodoohda that works under both 32 / 64 bit

I used the [6] Method, however I installed the "USB installer" onto a separate partition on the same HDD, and then once I had installed OS X lion onto the same HDD (using the "USB installer"), I deleted the installer partition and resized the HDD to only have the osx Lion partiton for the whole HDD.

I installed chameleon to both the installer partition and the os x lion partition, with the dsdt and the faksmc.kext and boot file.

All Kexts are in the Extra/Extensions folder except the ALC1200 audio kext which is in the System/Library/Extensions folder

  • Install Method: Fresh install. Create a install disk with Xmove. Reboot with HMBT BootCD (Note: If you have a GF Fermi 4xx ou 5xx series, maybe you can add a "npci=0x2000" command in chameleon boot screen). Select the install disk, proceed a normal install. Reboot again using the HMBT disk, select the lion disk. Install Chameleon, put all Kexts in folders, use Kext utility and restart again, with -v option (if you use a GF fermi card and get a [PCI Configuration] error in bootscreen, use npci=0x2000 flag). Now, use the Champlist to upgrade Chameleon to newer version and if you use a GF fermi card and get a [PCI Configuration] error in bootscreen, select the option npci=0x2000 in flag options!!!
