Hardware Compatibility

This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.7.3 builds only.

  • Model Name: Mac Pro

Component Status:

  • Audio Works with patch
  • Ethernet Works with patch
  • Graphics Works with QE/CI
  • Dual Monitors using VGA and DVI from Single Video Card
  • Only Sleep does not work

Installation Guide: Default BIOS settings if installation freezes, Disable Legacy USB support

  1. Boot from DVD
  2. It will take 5-15 Minutes that you will be stock on the apple loading screen, but it will still load to the installation setup(Be Patient)
  3. Partition your Hard Disk in the Disk Utility
  4. Just Install the iAtkos OS X deselect other choices on the customization of your installation
  5. After login apply the necessary patches.
MultiBeast 4.2.1
  • EasyBeast Install
  • System Utilities(Repair Permissions)
  • Audio = VoodooHDA 0.2.1
  • Network = Realtek Gigabit Ethernet 2.0.6 for 10.7
  • Miscellaneous = PS/2 Keyboard & Mouse/Trackpads
  • OSx86 Software = Kext Utility
  • Graphics =
  1. Locate ATI5000Controller.kext and ATIRadeonX3000.kext from /System/Library/Extensions
  2. Open package content and edit the Contents/Info.plist for both ATI5000Controller.kext and ATIRadeonX3000.kext.
  3. Edit Info.plist(Need Admin privileges)
  4. find <key>IOPCIMatch</key><string>...</string> for both kexts
  5. insert 0x68f91002 inside the <string>...</string> ex.: <string>0x68f91002 ...</string>(note just insert it and do not modify the other strings. Apply step 3, 4, 5 for both kexts)
  6. then save the modified kexts.
  7. install them using Kext Utility.
  8. then Restart
  • Additional Note: I use iAtkos L2 so this patch works for 10.7.2 and 10.7.3

After using Mac App Store 10.7.1 I was able to use the 10.7.2 ComboUpdate. I was then able to use the 10.7.3 ComboUpdate.

Updated from 10.7.2 and no problems as of yet, downloaded the 10.7.3 update - i didn't use the 'Software Update'. MAKE SURE YOU DELETE "SleepEnabler.kext" BEFORE UPDATING!!

  • Multibeast - Enable "CPURootID=1" at startup

VoodooHDA (older version works best (no popping or feedback)) from Multibeast.

  • restart
  • you can now add your lag driver, usb, etc..

After using Mac App Store 10.7.1 I was able to use the 10.7.2 ComboUpdate. I was then able to use the 10.7.3 ComboUpdate. I've had no issues and I did not need to reapply any patches.

VoodooHDA from Multibeast. Edit .plist for Voodoo to reduce gain at boot. This patch was done at initial 10.7.1 install.

  • Misc: "AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset" to fix sleep

Manual:

  • To fix reboot after wake make sure you tick the two boxes in energy preferences: automatic restart on power failure and automatic restart on freeze(!)
  • Make sure BIOS suspend mode is S3
  • Also had to disable wake by USB, otherwise Magic Trackpad (or the bluetooth adapter) wakes the system after going to sleep (is there a fix?)
