macOS 10.10.5 Hardware Compatibility
|
|
|
This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.10.5 builds only.
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Intel® Z97
|
- Intel i3 4150 Haswell Refresh
- Asus EAH5570 1GB
- 8gb DDR3 1600mhz RAM
- 500 GB Sata 3 HDD
- Second Hardware test:
- Anniversary Pentium G3250 OC to 4.2Ghz
- PowerColor Radeon HD5850 1GB
- 32GB DDR3 1866MHZ RAM
- 250 GB Crucial MX200 SSD
- Clover EFI Bootloader
|
Clover Post-installation:
- Place in Clover Kext folder: Realtek ALC887/888b Current v100302, NullCPUPower, AppleIntelE1000e v3.2.4.2,
- iMac 14,2
- Install Clover in ESP, Install Boot0af in MBR, CloverEFI 64-bit SATA, OSxAptioFixDrv-64, Install RC scripts on target volume
- If using the G3250 set FakeCPUID to "0306A0" this is a Ivybridge i5 CPU ID
Disable VT-d in BIOS/UEFI
Update BIOS/UEFI to or past v1.30
Integrated graphics on the i3 work but not well enough with apps (Photoshop, etc...). Getting kicked to login screen is common on IGPU. QE and CI sort of work.

- Running OS X 10.10.5 (Yosemite). Installed from USB using this procedure, but only up to step 2.2.1.
After that, use this procedure to install Clover. I tried Chameleon, but it's more of a legacy BIOS-compatible bootloader than full UEFI.
- UEFI: Click here for a good explanation of settings to get sleep to work on your hackintosh.
It's also a pretty decent OS X install reference.
- LAN (Use this link.) Link to driver at the bottom of entry #1.
- Audio: Follow this procedure: click here.
When patching AppleHDA.kext, use "Piker-Alpha AppleHDA8Series" patch method. Also must extract DSDT using Linux 'acpidump' for audio injection (avoid using MaciASL or DSDT Editor to extract DSDT because of compile problems). Will need to use Clover Configurator to configure config.plist to inject correct layout ID. Will need to use EFI Mounter to mount EFI partition whether booting with Clover or Chameleon (config.plist resides in EFI partition--Use 'diskutil list' in Terminal to view partitions). Plan to do a LOT of reading to figure all this out.
- Video: Click here for Nvidia Web Drivers. Drivers are Yosemite-version dependent. Be sure to download and have available correct video driver BEFORE installing OS X software updates. Install web driver after OS X update.
