This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.11.6 builds only.

Alienware x51 r2 gtx 960 i5 4460 H87 Follow rampagedev guide at rampagedev.com/?page_id=144 for initial install. After install, install the rtl8111 2.0 kext. To get audio working disable system integrity protection and add audio injection yes string into clover, after doing this and rebooting, install alc898 applehda patch from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/306562-applehda-for-el-capitan-discussion/page-3#entry2145162

Run this script as root in terminal

Used, select layout ID 2 and restart, audio should now work just fine. As for the graphics, download the latest nvidia web drivers for your exact version of el Capitan and restart with the boot flag nvda_drv=1 you'll want to add this flag to the clover config so you don't have to add it in manually on every reboot.

Installation - Fresh Vanilla Install

  • Added 0x28 to BooterConfig and 0x3 in CsrActiveConfig under Rt Variables in Clover Configurator.
  • Bootloader: Clover, OsxAptioFix2Drv.kext

Installation -

  • Create Vanilla Installer - google is your friend.
  • Install Clover, then use the parameters supplied in this page. Dont forget to select smbios and choose serial number. NOTE THE SERIAL NUMBER and stick to that SN whenever you reinstall.
  • DO VANILLA INSTALL, only use additional kext to fix further trouble.
