macOS 10.4.7
Hardware Compatibility

This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.4.7 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Kernels are available for most configured machines

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.4.7 builds only.

Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Note: Please add whether your device supports QE, Quartz Extreme, graphics. Try playing a movie with Quicktime Player.

See the x86 software page for programs you can run without Rosetta.

[edit] Acer Aspire 1692WLMi

Running MacOSX 10.4.7 upgraded from 10.4.4. Installing MacOSX presented no issues whatsoever. What works: A lot of stuff including sound, touchpad, all USBs, DVD+-RW, Ethernet Broadcom 5788 (with AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext patched), Video drivers (ATI Mobility Radeon x700), can watch videos perfectly (DivX, Xvid, WMV). It's really nice having Mac OS X almost fully working now, I have Office, Adium, iLife. What doesn't work: Card Reader, Resolution 1280x800 (really, really a shame), Intel Wifi, Conexant Modem.

[edit] Acer 5672AWLMi

Intel Core Duo T2250 (1.73Ghz, 533Mhz FSB, 2Mb L2 cache), 15.4 WXGA Lcd (16ms), Ati Mobility Radeon X1600 512Mb, 120Gb Sata HDD, Pioneer Slot-in DVD-DL drive, 1 Gb DDR2, Intel Pro wireless 3945 abg, Logitech orbicam 1.3 MP

Installed MacOsX 10.4.7 Jas, X1600 QE/CI ok but not change resolution, only 1024x768 (don't use borisbrandenov pach -> black screen), Audio Patched (see forum about Realtek ALC audio, need to change Device ID) but no mic, Usb ok, PCMCIA ok, DVD-DL ok, Webcam ok, Trackpad, Audio control button ok, Firewire ok, not working Broadcom 5789 ethernet ('memory map' error with the Niasa-it patched kext), not working intel 3945 abg. Replace the intel wifi mini pci express card, with an atheros minipci express wifi card.

[edit] Aspire 3023 wlmi

AMD Sempron 3000 1.80ghz,ATI X200 chipset, 512mb ram, ATI mobility X700 128mb;

-Native: works only with myzar 10.4.6 DVD with 10.4.7 upgrade ,jas dvd install but after reboot waiting root device

Audio works very well , video nothing to do [dont work] and wifi when she wants, you must disable from bios infrared and usb legancy

[edit] Acer Aspire 3628AWXMi

I used The Mac OS X Jas 10.4.7 (To be exact the name of the torrent is Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack), I installed the SSE2 patches, 10.4.7 Combo update, GMA 900 Support, Wireless.

Intel Pentium M 735A 1.73GHz Dothan Core with MMX, SSE, SSE2. 2MB L2 Cache

Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (QE works, I was stuck at a blue screen, but after seeing the paperclip/VGA dongle on InsanelyMac. I coldn't make a VGA dongle and the paperclip didn't fit so I used two thin wires, It Worked!)

Realtek AC97 Audio (works)

Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet Nic (works)

SlimType DVD Drive (works)

Synaptics Touchpad (Works)

ST98823A - IDE Hardisk (Works)

Broadcom Bluetooth (Doesn't Work)

Intel 82801FB/FBM USB Univeral Host Controller

Intel 82801FB/FBM USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (They both Work so the USB Ports work Plug-n-Play works)

Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG (Works! Found a driver Here)

What can I say it's usable Wireless driver a bit slow, but hey It works. I'm Dual Booting Windows XP and Mac OS X and I'm happy with the result.

[edit] Acer Aspire 3623NWXmi

Mac OS X 10.4.7 JaS (takes a long time to load the installer... wait. Installed Intel SSE2, GMA900, Wireless support)

Intel Celeron M 370 1.5Ghz

256MB RAM (recommend upgrade)

Intel GMA900 (Quartz Extreme working, needed the "paperclip"/VGA dongle: bridge pins 1-6,2-12, otherwise stuck at blank blue screen)

Realtek AC97 Audio (works, detected as Intel)

Integrated Realtek 8139 Ethernet (works)

Atheros 5005 Extended Range (works with kexts from Apple 10.4.5 update)

LG OEM DVDRW (works)

Some issues with Sleep (like when closing lid), I believe they're linked to the lack of RAM.

This was a cheap laptop, $509 canadian, came with some basic linux preinstalled, good system for OSX.

[edit] Acer Aspire 3623WXCi

Installed JaS 10.4.7 with the combo update, Intel SSE2, GMA900 and wireless packages. Overall, very impressed. Video effects are very smooth the overall system is very fast. Good system for an easy OS X installation.

- Intel Celeron M 1.5GHz

- 512mb RAM

- Intel i915M GMA900 video with 1280x800x32 + QE and CI working out of the box with NO .plist tweaks

(Set BIOS boot options for video to "BOTH" and hook up an external monitor - dongle just gives a blue screen)

- Sound works as well as keyboard Fn keys for sound volume

- Realtek 8139 ethernet detected and working on "en0"

- Atheros Wireless detected and working as "en1" AirPort AFTER copying over the 10.4.5 IO80211Family.kext

[edit] Acer Aspire 3690

Worked great aside from a human error. After I finally figured out what I didn't do, it worked properly. Full 1280 x 800 resolution. DVD Burner works fine, Touchpad works fine. Wireless internet works great, and I was getting speeds over 100 KBs on a download. Haven't tried wired internet at all, or the card reader. Everything I've tried works awesome. . .

[edit] Acer Aspire 5500z

Intel Pentium M "Dothan" Processsor 735 (1.7Ghz, 400Mhz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache), Intel Integrated i915M GMA 900 (128MB), 80GB Toshiba HDD, DVD Dual Layer, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 802.11b/g Wireless

Mac OSX wouldn't boot on the internal DVD Dual Layer drive, but it worked with an external Packard Bell DVD-ROM. The first time we installed (wrong), we didn't need an external monitor/VGA dongle. But the second time and on, we needed one. So now it works with a VGA dongle. Intel i915M graphics card is working perfectly and is fully supported with an extra driver! Sound works out of the box, only WLAN doesn't work - need to check this out -.

[edit] Acer Travelmate 2428 AWXMi

Intel® Pentium® M Prozessor 740 (2MB L2 Cache/ 1.73GHz/ 533MHz FSB), Intel® 915GM - Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG, 14.1" WXGA TFT Display, Intel® 915GM with Intel® GMA900 up to 64MB, 256MB (2*1024) DDR2, 60GB HDD, DVD-Dual Double Layer, 10/100 LAN, WLAN 802.11b.

..first had to "dongle" (see forum dongle/blue screen) and then: perfect (a real BIG "thank you", JaS!!!) - no problems at all. fixed wlan by buying a 15€broadcom-mini-pci (4306), ethernet works, modem doesnt (doesnt matter @ll), audio "not available" but works fine, screen-resolution 1280x800x32 - qe & ci enabled, slimtype-dvd-ssw8015s burns just via toast, trackpad/keyboard(fn-keys) work fine.. happy ;-)

chosen patches: intel update 10.4.7, intel sse2, gma900.

[edit] Acer TravelMate 252LMi

An Acer TravelMate 250 clone, with [email protected] & 512MB Ram.

[edit] Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705

JaS 10.4.7 DVD installed in VMWare Server 1.0.1 on XP MCE SP2. Followed VMWare How-to doc here, with the following notes:

  • Choose WindowsNT as the the VM base. FreeBSD will NOT work (you'll get "com.apple.boot.plist not found" error)
  • Choose Custom install for WindowsNT VM, so that you can select IDE as your drive. SCSI drive will not show up once you get to the Disk Utility.
  • I chose NAT as my networking, and 1 CPU.
  • Choose Custom Install for OSX install. Select only Intel-related patches, both SSE2 and SSE3 patches. Do not select ANY of the other patches, especially the ATI driver patch (doesn't work with X1400). If you do, the install will complete but will hang at the gray screen or give you the "you must restart your computer" screen.
  • There is no support for X1400 as of yet. Searched everwhere on Wiki and forums. You'll have to live with 1024x768 for now.

Follow the docs for everything else. The VM runs just fine, but a bit slow and the mouse movement is not smooth.

Installation Method: Native DVD Installation using 10.4.7 JaS ISO Burned to DVD-R

  • Slow Install
  • Quick Startup Time
  • SSE2 Patch Only
  • It has decent perfomance, but not all the hardware is recognized. No kernal panics were encountered.

  • 2.66Ghz Pentium 4 Processor
  • 256MB DDR 266MHz (PCC2100)
  • ATI Radeon 7500 32MB Video Works, but recognized as Compatible VGA Controller 128MB
  • Sigmatel 9750 Works
  • Cardbus Slot is NOT working
  • DVD/CD-RW Burner Drive Works
  • Both USB 2.0 Ports Work
  • Ethernet is Recognized
  • Touchpad Works as well as the tap-clicking
  • Does not suspend when told to or when notebook is closed. When told to sleep the mouse cursor disapears and hard drive shuts down, but display is still bright. It does not crash though.
  • Battery is NOT Recogized, but can be patched with a different PowerManagement.Bundle being installed.
  • OS X claims that the processor is running at 2.8GHz when infact it is at 2.66GHz, I am not sure if it is actually running at that speed but it does not crash and the fan is cooling properly.

A32 Bios

  • Runs excellent, but no suspend mode recognition or carbus. These issues further cripple its mobility. If they worked it would be great.

[edit] Dell Inspiron 4150

Installation Method: Native DVD Installation using 10.4.7 JaS ISO Burned to DVD-R

  • Slow Install
  • Slow Startup Time
  • SSE2 Patch Only
  • Works ok, speed is decent, but has some issues. No kernal panics were encountered.

  • 1.7GHz Mobile Intel Pentium - M
  • 512MB DDR 266MHz (PC2100)
  • ATI Radeon 7500 16MB Video Works, but recognized as Compatible VGA Controller 128MB
  • Crystal 4205 Sound Works
  • Wireless Dell TrueMobile 1150 Mini-PCI Card Does NOT Work
  • DVD/CD-RW Burner Drive is recognized
  • USB 1.1 port on mainboard does work
  • Ethernet Recognized
  • Touchpad and trackpoint work, even tap-clicking.
  • Both Cardbus Slots NOT Recognized
  • Does not suspend when told to or when notebook is closed. When told to sleep the mouse cursor disapears and hard drive shuts down, but display is still bright. It does not crash though.
  • Battery is NOT Recogized, but can be patched with a different PowerManagement.Bundle being installed.
  • OS X claims that the processor is running at 2.4GHz when infact it is at 1.7GHz, I am not sure if it is actually running at that speed but it does not crash and the fan is cooling properly.

  • Turned off serial ports and printer ports. I am not sure if this helps but it did not hurt.

  • Runs good, but it is still not very mobile due to inoperable WI-FI card and no suspend mode recognition. These issues further cripple its mobility. If they worked it would be great.

[edit] Dell Latitude C840

Installation Method:

  • Native install using 10.4.7 Jas Repack ISO. Installed Intel, SSE2, and Wireless Support patches.
  • Dual Boot WinXP/Mac OSX using Darwin Bootloader.
  • Due to a broken DVD drive, the notebook hard drive was placed in a separate desktop and the installation was performed there. After the installation, the drive was placed back into the notebook. The Windows XP installation was backed up on this desktop and restored to the partition created using Mac Disk Utility.

  • Intel Pentium 4 Mobile 1.6 GHz
  • 512 MB Ram
  • AC'97 Audo Controller
  • Nvidia Geforce 440 Go
  • 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller
  • Dell TrueMobile 1150 MiniPCI

Not Working:

  • Dell TrueMobile 1150 wireless card is not recognized by OSX. However a BCM94306MP wireless card was purchased from ebay for $14 and this broadcom card works.
  • Screen resolution fixed using Macvidia 1.0.8. Still no QE/CI (hardware acceleration.

  • The speed is pretty good. The dock ripples work fine, however the screensaver fps is pretty slow. Waiting on QE/CI support from Macvidia!

Dual Core 1.66 (SSE2 only), 945GM video, SigMatel Audio, IntelPRO WiFi, Broadcom 440x 10/100 Ethernet

Installed from JaS 10.4.7 DVD straight on new unpartitioned SATA HD, with the 2 cpus activated.

Had to correct one file link error in JaS 10.4.7 installation ( AppleFileServer)

  • Working :

Installation went fine. have to make some reboots. Finder/screen is realy slow. So I disabled one cpu in bios and got a 1.66Ghz performance. (FireWire not tested for now)

Ethernet OK, but seems to be slow.

  • Not Working :

Audio not working, incompatible IntelPRO/WiFi.

On some reboots, got black darwin terminal; but can do reboot with commands sh /etc/rc ; shutdown -r now ;

  • Add-ons working :

IOGear USB-BlueTooth and Logitech BT-mouse OK.

[edit] Dell Latitude D510

Installed from JaS 10.4.6 DVD.

  • Short-cut the VGA plug on you laptop (see [5])
  • When you reach the disk destination screen, run the disk tool from the menu and erase/create a new MAC journal partition.
  • Quit the disk tool and run the terminal tool from the menu.
  • Type "fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0". Than type "f 1" and then write (answering "yes" to the question) and exit the terminal.
  • Continue the installation process and when you reach the screen before you actually install it, you need to customize the installation.
  • Click Customize and pick only whatever drivers you need for the printer you have, SSE2 Intel, Wireless and the first option (can't remember from the top of my head, but it is the generic update).
  • Do the install.
  • After the machine boots up you some things are not working yet (wireless, modem, pcmcia, battery status)
  • To fix the batery - [6] and replace your existing one in /System/Library/SystemConfiguration fix the permissions (disk tool) and reboot.
  • First you need to apply the 10.4.7 Jas Patch (demonoid torrent). To fix the wireless go [7] and the test6 one (latest at this time) and follow the instructions. Make sure you do step 5 in the installation instructions. This driver still has some bugs (hangs on big transfers and it is slow, but it works OK for browsing).

Pentium M Centrino 1.7 GHz (SSE2 only)

Whole 40GB Disk (1 patition)

Intel 2200GB Wifi Card (Finally working, but with some bugs), etc

  • Continue the installation process and when you reach the screen before you actually install it, you need to customize the installation.
  • Click Customize and pick only whatever drivers you need, SSE2 Intel, don't pick any driver for sound.
  • Do the install.
  • After the machine boots up you will have everything (almost) functionally. No modem at all but Wireless, QE, Sound, LAN, Bluetooth, quite good!

[edit] Dell Latitude D600

Dell D600 installed from JaS 10.4.6 DVD - Installed no problem...just don't forget to make the changes during the install.

Pentium M 1.7 GHz (meaning SSE2 only)

20GB Parition

Intel 2200GB Wifi Card (looks like this won't work)

Updated to 10.4.7 using JaS package.

  • Did the ATI fix by deleting the kext's and then was able to get to 1400x1050x32
  • Deleted the sound files and had them rebuild and got AC97 sound back
  • added the powermanagement fix so it displays whatever you had at the time you booted up...doesn't update in real time
  • Had to do the hack to get my network card working - covered elsewhere in here
  • Installed Parallels and got WinXP booting :)
  • Don't install iTunes 7 it won't launch
  • Still waiting for an ATI driver for Radeon 9000 -> Graphics look good, but not accelerated at all

Machine very stable -> Tried going to 10.4.8 - Don't bother until the new Kernel is released for SSE2. It should be out around Dec 24. 2006.

Other than that, I wish my modem worked and ACPI stuff worked. I think there's some more digging for me to do. I'll wait until Kernel 8.8.1 for SSE2 is released before I make any more changes and/or upgrade to 10.4.8.

[edit] Dell Latitude D620

JaS 10.4.7 works out of the box but you need to disable multi-core in the BIOS. No CI/QE support for the nVidia yet. Will work on sound and network. .

Intel wireless 3945a/b/g does not work

[edit] Dell Latitude D800

Dell D800 with Jas 10.4.6 (than updated to 10.4.7) Basic video and sound working out of the box.

Battery indicator can be found here (works on many laptops): [9]

Also got onboard nic working by using the notes here: [10]

And full 1680x1050x32 video support from macvidia driver here: [11]

still no QE yet waiting for update from the group at macvidia

There is also a cool widgit there that will show you your current driver on your system and the driver that is currently availble on-line: [12]

Still no wireless with the intel 2200bg chip

I have a 1.8 Penitum M with 1.25 Gig ram - really snappy performance, takes about 16 seconds to get to the login screen

[edit] Dell XPS M1210

Installation Method:

  • Native, using JaS MacOS X 10.4.6 x86 ISO (which in itself is really a 10.4.4 distro with 10.4.6 updates added during the initial install process) + JaS 10.4.7 Updates for Intel CPUs

  • Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz)
  • 2GB Dual Channel DDR2-667 (2 x 1GB Modules)
  • 60GB Toshiba 5400rpm SATA HDD
  • DVD+/-RW DL Writer (Sony DW-Q58A)
  • Intel 945PM PCI Express Chipset
  • NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 with TurboCache (64MB dedicated) PCI Express Graphics
  • SigmaTel HD Audio Codec
  • Broadcom 440x 10/100Mbps Ethernet
  • Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG 802.11a/b/g MiniCard Wireless LAN
  • Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth v2.0+EDR (Broadcom chipset)
  • Ricoh IEEE1394 Firewire
  • WXGA LCD Panel (1280x800)
  • BIOS Version of Laptop is A04

  • Major components worked after initial installation including:

- Graphics, loaded as VESA 3.0, no CoreImage or Quartz Extreme, fixed at 1024x768 before MacVidia driver install. Properly identified and set to native (1280x800) resolution after MacVidia 1.0.8 drivers are installed.

- 10/100Mbps Ethernet

- Bluetooth

- All drives mounted correctly - HDDs, DVD Writer, USB Flash Drives (when plugged into USB 2.0 ports), external USB 2.0 80GB HDD

- USB 2.0 Ports working with Logitech G5 Laser Mouse

Not Working:

  • SigamaTel HD Audio (there is an audio adjustment slider shown however no sound comes out from the speakers)
  • Intel Wireless LAN not detected (still no drivers at this stage)
  • 5-in-1 Card Reader (MMC/SD/xD/MS/MS-PRO) (built-in)
  • Built in Logitech webcam (part of the A/V Communications package)

  • The GUI is quite laggy and choppy before the installation of the MacVidia drivers, and even after the install, screen refreshes are sometimes choppy, and mouse movements jerky. Feels like the system is catching up at times when trying to switch between different applications and windows
  • Still no working Intel PRO/Wireless drivers avaliable, however all Broadcom chipset driven devices (Ethernet, Bluetooth) seems to be happily identified and working (no doubt since most of the proper Macs uses Broadcom components extensively

GMA950 - full resolution (1280x800x32), full QE/CI and dual display (DVI->VGA out). - needed to install GMA900 support pkg to get it working - strange - need 900 support for 950. Without it it doesn't work. Deleting AppleIntel915* kexts kills it too. S-Video not tested.

Ethernet - Intel PRO/100 VE Net.connection (Ekron 10/100 LU82562GZ) - working after adding vedor/device ID into 8255x kext (inside IONetworking.kext->Plugins) (Dev:1092 Vend:8086) Had some stability problems, maybe due to my internet connection.

Modem (HDAUDIO Soft data fax) - not recognized

SATA - fully working, AHCI mode (intel 82801GBM)

PATA - Intel 82801G - fully working (DVD-RW present), DMA on

Sound - Connexant AMON (recognized as Intel High Definition audio) - had to remove AppleHDA.kext and patch Info.plist of Azalia Controller kext (inside AppleAzaliaAudio.kext -> Plugins) for PCI primary match to match mine: 0x27d88086 (in ICH6 section of info.plist; original value 0x26688086)

[edit] HP Compaq nx6110

Using JaS 10.4.7 - Installation was only possible with an external monitor attached, and everyday booting is only possible with monitor plugged or paper clip inserted. 4 partitions (all primary !) on a single hard drive : 1st is NTFS for XP (set active), 2nd is is NTFS for Vista, 3rd is HFS+ for OSX, 4th is FAT32 for data. I'm tri-booting without a hitch using XFDISK (eXtended FDSIK, which can be found on UBCD - Ulimate Boot CD) and vista bootloader (2 bootloaders, one after the other!)

Intel Celeron M 360 @ 1.4Ghz - 1280 MB DDR, 120 GB Samsung HDD, Intel GMA900, MSI CB54G2 wireless PC Card

ACPI is quite ok : Fans behave normally, the laptop restarts and shuts down normally. Only sleeping mode is buggy. The system is surprisingly fast, even more than with XP.

-Working: Everything !

Out of the box : Graphic Card intel 915 w/ dual screen at desired resolutions (1024x768 internal and 1280x1024 external),everyday boot is possible only with inserted paperclip (join pin 6 with 12) or VGA dummy dongle,QE and CI activated, USB, Firewire, combo DVD/CDRW drive, Touchpad,Keyboard.

With drivers (ralink RT 2500) : MSI CB54G2 wireless PC Card.

With tweaking : Texas Instruments PC Card bridge TI PCI 7621 (built-in and needed to use any PC Card such as a wifi card!). Wasn't recognized until I followed this thread (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=29583) and built for myself a modified version of IOPCCardFamily.kext for the TI PCI 7621

-Not Working: Nothing!

[edit] HP Compaq nx6125

I used JaS 10.4.7. I have a Sempron 3100+ with 1.85Ghz. Mac OSX is running with 512Mb RAM. This machine also has BroadCOM4318 Wifi Chipset and ATI IXP SB400 Soundchip. You should install the Wireless drivers and AMD Patches. While some tools show me that I have SSE3 MacOSX only uses SSE2 (sad but not really a problem). The installation went fine. The wizard configured WLAN and it worked without a glitch. Sound doesnt work at all right after the Installation. Wifi stops working after the first reboot. What I did was:

1. Delete AppleAirport2.kext

2. Hack the sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

<string>en0</string> to: <string>en1</string>

and changed:

<integer>0</integer> to: <integer>1</integer>

rebooted and Airport was detected again.

3. check this page for the sound fix (page 27 especially) [22]

The system is pretty stable. Deleting the kextcache makes it faster (weird?).

Jas os works with everything except for the sound, and wireless card at this time. you need to install patches on the disc like the intel ones depending on the hardware. Got it working with duel boot. i used acronis os selector and everything works fine.

It is very fast and the native res 1280x768 works just fine. using Darwine, it will run the windows programs on the windows partition.

Ethernet functions fine without hack.

Audio works, Volume Keys work and so does mute, DVD Burner works, USB Works, Firewire works.

CPU runs kinda hot so I installed cputhrottle and it works great and prevents fan from spinning so hard. Haven't tested modem, pcmcia or card reader.

No battery support, until I installed Powermanagement Bundle and now I at least get a battery percentage but it won't show time remaining. PCMCIA and Firewire works with this hack. Also updated to 10.4.7 with Jas' update and it works great!

Sound working after updating the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext with the vendor id/dev ID. (ID: 0x504714F1) I also had to remove the HDA kext for this to work.

For the network card, I edited the IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleIntel8225x.kext and added the dev id. (ID: 0x10928086)

Works using DVD install. I had to install Jas' GMA 900 patch to make my GMA 950 work perfectly with qe and ci. Also applied Jas' sse 3 Intel patch. In order to get the high definition audio to work, I edited the AppleAzalia.kext to work with the ALC262 Realtek High Definition Audio sound card (look up your dev and vendor id). I needed to also remove the AppleHDA.kext for the card to be recognized. The IOnetwork.kext needed to be edited to work with the ethernet card. The wireless is not working yet. Also applied the power management kext to make the battery show up. Works really well. Nice and smooth.

Edit - Whoever posted this, could you post a how-to in the forum for the ALC262? Thx.

How to get HD audio working - sound for ya!!!

1) Backup AppleHDA.kext:

In Terminal, type:

cd /System/Library/Extensions

sudo mkdir audio_backup

sudo mv AppleHDA.kext audio_backup/

2) Edit AppleAzaliaAudio.kext:

In Terminal, type:

cd /System/Library/Extensions

sudo pico AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Search for IOHDAudioCodecVendorID (press Ctrl + W)

Change <string>0x10ec0880</string> -- to -- <string>0x10ec0262</string>

Exit pico: press Ctrl + O to save and then Ctrl + X to exit

In Terminal, type:

sudo pico AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Search for IOPCIPrimaryMatch (press Ctrl + W)

<string>0xNNNN8086</string> (where NNNN are any 4 characters)

Change <string>0xNNNN8086</string> -- to -- <string>0x27d88086</string>

(note: for ALC882, the string is probably correct without any edit)

Exit pico: press Ctrl + O to save and then Ctrl + X to exit

3) Clean up the system:

In Terminal, type:

cd /System/Library/Extensions

sudo diskutil repairpermissions /

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

cd /System/Library

sudo rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache

I install version 10.4.6, apply patch 900, Remove GM950 for error popup when log in. Video work perfect with qe and ci with resolution 1280x800. Sound work, no input though. Ethernet is working using editing AppleYukon.kext(put a post on here, show you how). Running with Duo Core, USB work perfect. Firewire work. Power management work also.

Dual SATA 60gb hard drives First installed WinXP to first drive, then WITH the JaS DVD disk manager, partitioned the second as ~10GB for osx and ~50GB FAT32. (now works like a charm. no safe mode, nothing.)

Installed with JaS 10.4.6 DVD ISO, upgraded to 10.4.7 in same install session (JaS patch)

Applied SSE2 patch (Processor is sse2, not sse3) from JaS DVD

Applied MacVidia Drivers Beta 2 for GeForce Go 6600 (auto installer)

Graphics work at native 1440x900 resolution. bells and whistles of the card itself, however, are not present. 3d animations on the OS are somewhat laggy and subpar. a bit annoying, nothing serious at all. hopefully macvidia will come out with the support soon.

Sound works: AC97 codec chip. after JaS install, played around with sound and speaker settings in the OS itself. Also, try the Aggregate Drivers tab in mac os. after monkeying with that, my sound worked randomly. also, volume knob controls sound and i get the sound symbol in the bottom center of my screen with sound to indicate +/- sound levels.

Ethernet card is recognized, though I haven't tried it yet.

Wireless card (intel pro/wireless 2915) does NOT work and to date, i have not found any drivers. still searching.

bluetooth not recognized (havent tried to fix this). speakers themselves not recognized (although they work)

no battery monitor, although i hear there is a fix...not worried

DVD drive is recognized fully in system profile-although haven't tried writing yet. OS reads the jas disc i have in the drive currently.

  • the latest version of itunes (7.2) gave me a 'not enough memory' error. reinstalled. to no avail. finally, version 4.7 worked, however its ancient. worth it, though.

Intel Pentium Celeron M processor 1.47ghz, 512MB, ATI Radeon x200M Shared memory, ATI SATA, Mac OS-X 10.4.8.

What works: Touchpad, USB, Keyboard, CD/DVD burner, 1024z768 32bit, CPU (detected as Core duo).

What doesn't work: Lan, WiFi, Audio, battery status, SATA (using usbdisk), QE/CI.

Some work might bring lan, wifi, audio, SATA and battery status but there seams to be no way to make QE/CI work on it.

(Intel Moible Pentium 4 3.06ghz (SSE2), 512mb RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP)

My OSX is on a small, 8gb partition on the end of my drive. I used PartitionMagic to resize my Windows partition, and create an unformatted (really doesn't matter what type) partition in the 8gb at the end of the drive. I installed Smart Boot Manager to the MBR, for dualbooting as well as to preserve XP's MBR. I then booted the OSX cd, and erased that unformatted partition, formating it with HFS+. I installed OSX to it, rebooted, and Smart Boot Manager detected it. I had to set both it and my windows XP to auto-active (look in the menus).

My OS X setup process was as follows:

  1. Installed JaS 10.4.7, booted fine right off.
  1. Used Callisto 006 drivers for the graphics. No QE, CI, or OpenGL (or even AGP), but last time I tried to make that work I had to reinstall everything.
  1. Used Zappadoc's ATA driver for the initially-nonworking DVD drive (had to delete old AppleOnboardPCATA).
  1. Used [34] for network; replaced old IONetworkingFamily. [35] might help for the wireless also.
  1. Still have yet to get the sound to work. Updates to come.

What works: LAN, Touchpad, USB, Keyboard, CD/DVD drive, 1024z768 32bit (WiFi works with replaced KEXT's).

What doesn't work: WiFi (out of the box), Audio.

WiFi will work by replacing two kext files, and audio may or may not work with edited kexts. Everything else works.
