This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity.   • Installation method: Installed using iAtkos S3 V2 with Chameleon v2 RC5, Graphics Enabler checked, AHCI checked, NVEnabler checked, VoodoHDA checked, VoodoPS2 checked. Then used the 10.6.5 combo update to get to 10.6.5.
  • CPU: Core 2 Duo E7500
  • SATA: Works out of the box
  • IDE: Not tested
  • LAN: Not yet tested
  • Audio: VoodoHDA
  • Graphics: XFX 9800 GT. Fully supported and functional using NVEnabler, HOWEVER I was only able to get a connection from the DVI port; the HDMI port does not currently output video.
  • USB: Works out of the box. Using a Netgear wg111v3 USB wireless stick. 10.6.X needs the drivers from 10.4 to function, for some reason the 10.5 drivers don't work.
  • Power: Using EvoReboot from install CD, however using SleepEnabler caused a kernel panic upon update to 10.6.5. Removed and reinstalled without, updates fine.
  • Install process: iAtkos S3 V2 image/DVD. Check options mentioned above. Use combo update to get update to 10.6.5. When installing I originally was using a DVI->HDMI converter and using HDMI to the monitor. This would work as long as I did not try NVEnabler, otherwise it would not output any video & resolution was stuck at 1024x768. However once I switched to a pure DVI output->DVI input to the montior I got a fully functional signal using NVEnabler (as well as 100% graphics support mentioned above).

Install Method:

  • 1. Disable 2nd VGA if you have used more than 1 Card
  • 2. BIOS setup: SATA to AHCI ; HDD install MAC need connect to SATA port 1 and Disable other HDD ; CPU ratio=20 (with i7 920 - read more [2]) ; Disable all CPU feature ; Core=1 ; ACPI 2.0 enable ; S3 support enable.
  • 3. First boot with iBoot then Install with SL 10.6.3 RETALL DVD (use -x -v if need)
  • 4. Boot to MAC Update to 10.6.5 and install MultiBeast (sure that Checked USB kext rollback 10.6.2) > Restart
  • 5. Install other Kexts (Sound, USB, Sleep..)
  • 6. Resetting BIOS: Enabled all HDD, CPU Features, CPU ratio and Enabled all VGA! (only them)

Installed Hazard 10.6.1-6.2 and deleted the AppleTYMCE.driver.kext. Then updated via SU to 10.6.5, restarted into another working SL or Win 7 with MacDrive installed and again deleted the AppleTYMCE.driver.kext and the SleepEnabler.kext. Then restarted and everything worked. Only thing I had to do for full resolution 1920x1080 was to install SwitchResX and manually set up my resolution. Now everything works absolutely great, incl QE/CI.

I got a problem with network: it was only getting null 169.x.x.x IP. Many real Macs get this problem sometimes too. Tried many kexts and no way (but it was ok with 10.5), so I bought an Apple USB/Ethernet adapter (for MacBook Air) and it works very well!!! Really plug-and-play.

  • Kernel can upgrade with legacy_kernel 10.5 [29] and run on 64bit with flag "arch=i386 -force64" at com.apple.Boot.plist, but mostly your .app run on 32bit.
  • if Audio problem, change with VoodooHDA.kext and AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.2
  • Shutdown/Restart: Fully working

  • Installed 10.6.0, installed Chameleon RC5, NVenabler, EvOreboot, FakeSMC via Multibeast 3.0.3
  • Installed Comboupdate 10.6.5 and SleepEnabler for 10.6.5 and started creating and fixing a DSDT.
  • Sleep will not work until u install a proper DSDT! (I think it is the usual USB problem but didn't went through what exactly is the problem)

  • Shutdown, restart work OOTB, Sleep doesn't and didn't spend any time trying to get it working. As far as power saving go, I shut my monitors down after 5 mins.
  • After update before restart, used legacy 10.5.0 kernel for AMD 64 bit and added -force64 to com.boot.apple.plist fixed permissions and 64 bit extensions work. Finally able to use FCP without crashing and Adobe Premiere.
  • Using GTS250 dual DVI. Used enabler when I installed and worked flawlessly
  • Problems include pretty much daily reboots for no reason (seems to only happen when I am away from computer). After reboot, by default, boots to Windows7. When I reboot after Win7, if I don't shutdown and only restart, it pauses when detecting drives for 5-10 sec, if I boot to OSX when this happens, the keyboard and mouse don't work. After that the next time I boot OSX, it freezes during boot earlier each time I try. My only fix is to restore from time machine with SL disc. However, if I shutdown from Windows 7 it works fine. Found out from noticing the pattern. Over all, works pretty well but will go with intel next time.
