macOS 10.6.6 Hardware Compatibility
|
|
|
This is a hardware compatibility list ONLY for OEM desktop computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a desktop. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your x86 desktop computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.6.6 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.6.6 builds only.
Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!
Note: Please add whether your device supports QE, Quartz Extreme, graphics. Try playing a movie with Quicktime Player.

Intel P45

- Processor: Intel DualCore Pentium E5500 2.8GHz
- RAM: 2 x 2GB DDR2-800 Kingston ValueRAM
- Video - ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB
- Ethernet - Onboard RTL8111C
- Sound - Onboard VIA VT1708S
- Storage - Intel ICH10 Sata; Marvell 88SE6102 Pata
Installation
- Installed Hazard 10.6.1-6.2 and deleted the AppleTYMCE.driver.kext. Then updated via SU to 10.6.6, restarted into another working SL or Win 7 with MacDrive installed and again deleted the AppleTYMCE.driver.kext and the SleepEnabler.kext. Then restarted and everything worked. Since I installed the update to 10.6.5 my PC runs with the original Kernel of OSX and I can do every Update simply through software actualisation. Only thing I had to do for full resolution 1920x1080 was to install SwitchResX and manually set up my resolution. Now everything works absolutely great, incl QE/CI.

Intel ICH7

- Processor: 3.2ghz and 2.6ghz Pentium D
- RAM: 4.0gb DDR2 800mhz
Installation
- iatkos S3 10.6.3 qoopz 10.3 kernel, Chameleon v2 RC5, Sleep Enabler, Intel SATA/IDE, Voodoo HDA, NVEnabler
- Combo update to 10.6.6 before rebooting run Multi-Beast 3.9.1 and install the IOUSBFamily Rollback.
- Can also use Hazard 10.6.1-10.6.2 Intel AMD SSE2 SSE3 Distro and then upgrade using the 10.6.7 combo update
- Make sure to use the 10.7.0 Legacy Kernel (10.6.7 kernel) for P4 and PentiumD processors (E510 Runs Only These Types)
- Found using the 10.6.0 Legacy Kernel (10.6.6) works best for the 10.6.7 combo update
- Updated successfully to 10.6.8; remember to remove SleepEnable.kext after update and to backup kexts in (/S/L/E) before proceeding
- Installed Chameleon V2.1 - working perfectly
- Installed IntelGMA950 for Video and other Chipsets - working; correction kext is not loaded in extensions; Video HW support is minimal, no GL
- Must customize screen resolution with Chameleon Wizard in order for higher res to be accomplished
Working
- SATA
- optical drive: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4482B
- USB: full working after Multibeast USB Rollback.
- Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 8400gs 128mb dected only also nVidia Geforce 7600 GS 256mb w/NVEnabler
- Ethernet & Audio: voodoHDA, AppleIntel825.kext
- Wireless : RT2870 Working fully. Also Edimax ew-7811un with official 10.6 drivers.
Caveat
- Audio will not work without doing the following:
- Install VoodooHDA (ver. 0.2.1); "j0eynoise" what ver of VoodooHDA do you have?
- Remove AppleHDA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions (make a backup of that file before deleting just in case)
- Reload
- Go to "Settings" then "Sound" and then click on the onboad device entry in the list under "Output"
