HCL 10.7.2/Desktops
|
This is a hardware compatibility list ONLY for OEM desktop computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a desktop. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your x86 desktop computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.7.2 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.7.2 builds only.
Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

[edit] DX4850-57
- Motherboard: Gateway h67 chipset
- Processor: Intel Corei7-2600
- 8GB Memory
- Video: Nvidia GT 420
- Audio: On-Board Realtek ALC 662 HD Audio
- Method: UniBeast/Retail Lion Installer (From 8GB USB Stick)
- MultiBeast to load graphics driver (Using EasyBeast option) and intel on-board ethernet
- QE/CI working with resolution 2560 x 1440
- Audio drivers here: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=1629
- On-Board Card Reader working (Only tested with SD cards)
- Wifi Card (Ralink 3090) will not work in Lion, despite all efforts. Will update when I find a solution. (For now, solution is to replace with DLink DWA-556 Atheros chipset PCI-E card).
- Still booting from UniBeast USB stick because Chameleon (Chimera variant) won't work as bootloader. Not a significant drawback, though (Using Verbatim Store and Stay mini USB 8GB drive). Allows me to boot to Win7, Mac or Ubuntu.
Exactly the same problem too. Chameleon won't work as bootloader. Managed to get it to work once (no idea how, I think I tried a different bootloader) but then it just stopped working. Same specs other than a Nvidea GT530 2GB.

- Video: nVidia Quadro NVS290 OOTB (built in OS X driver, CUDA driver available from PNY)
- SATA: SATA AHCI
- RAM: All DIMMs detected, supports 16GB max at DDR3 1066
After Install, everything functions in 64bit mode, for some reason I had to load the installed as arch=i386 to get it to run properly.
[edit] HP Compaq dc7800 Pro Small Form Factor PC
