HCL 10.7.4/Portables
|
This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.7.4 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.7.4 builds only.
Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

- Install Method: iAtkos L2 + Apple System Update
- How to install: Boot iAtkos cd using: cpus=1 busratio=20 (otherwise it will take your forever to install)
- Durring install choose BootLoader--> Graphics Enabler;Built in Ethernet
- Patches-->FakeSMC; Disabler;
- Main Hardware-->Sound VoodooHDA 2.7.2; laptop battery; trackpad;
- Network-->Realtek
- IMPORTANT Post installation Always boot with cpus=1 busratio=20
- After Every System install, Lion will stay in stuck on Apple boot logo; to fix this first:
- boot with: cpus=1 busratio=20 -s
- Once in root type the following
mount -uw /
cd /System/Library/Extensions
mkdir IntelBack
mv AppleIntelHD* IntelOld/
mv AppleIntelSNB* IntelOld/
exit
- System should reboot (if not manually reboot the system)
- Lion should boot =D, Remember to Repeat the Post Installation if it hangs in the apple boot logo after SystemUpdates
- Note: since InteOld/ will contain AppleIntelHD and AppleIntelSNB files, it will not let you copy them again after the system update; Therefore, either delete them or when running the Apple Boot Logo fix make a new directory by typing mkdir IntelBack2 (instead of mkdir IntelBack)

[edit] Emachines
Works with emachines e510 laptop
only issue is the wifi isnt working as this laptop contains the atheros ar5007 wifi chip which currently isnt supported by mac os regardless of any kexts online.
install by downloading nireshs iso file (google it) (im using lion)
you will not require camelion or bootloader as niresh has a pre compiled one shipped with the program.
also no need to set as achi mode on your mother board as others suggest as its preselected in the bios.
burn the iso to a dvd and place in the dvd drive
restart your pc and press f10 when prompted to select your dvd ram drive
then you need to wait for ages until the screen finishes loading this can take up to 15mins
when you get to the main screen select english
make sure before hand you have partitioned your disc so that you can install mac os. before installation click utilities disc utliities at the top and partition your hard drive (choose mac osx journaled)
then moving on close the window when complete and follow install
select customise options when you get to install page
check the boxes for voodo hda audio drivers use 2.5.6 (stable version)
check all the boxes for laptop support including voodoo battery drivers.
DO NOT select any of the graphics or wifi options unless some are already preselected
then hit install
GOOD LUCK
plus if anyone does find a way to get the wifi atheros ar5007g working let people know on the mac forums.
