This is a component level hardware compatibility list for pre-release versions of Apple's Mac OS X Lion. As this is not the final release, compatibility may change throughout the builds, so please, do not rely on this list when buying hardware. It is for those who wish to share/experiment with pre-release versions of the OS. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for pre-release 10.7 builds only.

4. reboot and install 10.6.6 or 10.6.7 combo update [with google help]

5. Install 10.7 DP2 update

6. Repair permissions

7. If you have a KP, boot with -f -v command

Postinstallation using only VoodooHDA.kext and GraphicsEnabler=yes. NVEnabler was not necessary. System works flawlessly OOB!

Installation: Made a clean installation of Mac OS X Lion GM 10.7 with XPC and a flash drive with InstallESD.dmg, packages, mach_kernel (you must copy!) and FakeSMC.kext. Multibeast: used the EasyBeast Install and applied the patches. No custom DSDT used. Monitor connected via DVI.

Install Method:

1. Thru Snow Leopard Install, Restore BaseSystem.dmg inside of Mac OS X Install ESD to a USB Stick or Partition

2. Before restore you can;

a: Put FakeSMC.kext on /System/Library/Extensions, repair permissions and rebuild cache.

b: if you use Chameleon/PC-EFI, put (if you don`t have…) all needed kexts on /Extra/Extensions

c: If you use XPC, put all needed kexts on /EFI/XPC/extra_kext/common/ (only works when Extensions.mkext is find on /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/)

d: If you use iBOOT, put all needed kexts on /EFI/kext/10.7/ (only works when Extensions.mkext is find on /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/)

3. Install System

4. Post-Install

a: if you use Chameleon/PC-EFI there`s nothing more to do

b: For XPC / iBOOT users, thru Snow Install, remove the file /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist and rebuild caches of Lion Install

5. Install 11A459e DP3 update

Installation:

1- Using Snow Leopard, Make a 40GB partition and a 8GB Partition. Download OSX Lion DP3 and restore BaseSystem.dmg to the 8GB partition

2- Copy Packages from the downloaded .dmg file to the partition's System folder (Delete the alias there and make a Packages folder)

3- Added kernel, SMBIOS.plist, com.apple.boot.plist and kexts Marvell88E8056.kext, AHCIPortInjector.kext, FakeSMC.kext and IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext to Extra/Extensions

4- Added the kexts VoodooHDA.kexts, AppleHDA.kext, EVOEnabler.kext, ATI4350.Fix.v2.kext, and Marvell88E856.kext to System/Library/Extensions and ran pFIX on it

5- Reboot and boot thru the 8GB partition, normal installation. Took 10 minutes to finish

6- Reboot into the 40GB installation and it will work fairly fast. Remember to erase the 8GB and grow it into the 40GB with Disk utilities
