This is a component level hardware compatibility list for pre-release versions of Apple's macOS Sierra. As this is not the final release, compatibility may change throughout the builds, so please, do not rely on this list when buying hardware. It is for those who wish to share/experiment with pre-release versions of the OS. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for pre-release 10.12 builds only.

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 [1] Intel Z68 System Configuration:
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 2500 Sandy bridge 3.29 GHz
  • RAM: 4x4GB G Skill 1333 MHz
  • VGA: GeForce GTS 250
  • ETH: Built-in Broadcom BCM57781

System Status:

  • Sleep: Tick.png
  • Audio: Cross.png
Guide to install:
  • Note: This is my first time using Clover. Prior to Sierra, I had been using Yosemite 10.10 with Chimera bootloader. The switchover was mostly painless, the issues I had we're from being rusty with upgrades (skipped El Capitan)
  • Installation method: I prepared a USB drive with the Sierra Beta downloaded from App Store, and made it bootable with a tool (search insanelymac). Once I got Clover tweaked to boot, the installer worked perfectly.
  • Installed to a spare HDD I had, to keep my Yosemite for backup purposes. After installation, boot into Sierra was flawless. This is due to the properly configured "config.plist", "SSDT.aml", and patched kexts being in place for the installer.
  • Afterwards, I made a backup with CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) and began playing around with Sierra. It's super smooth and fast. A few bugs (beta, expected) but overall a worthy upgrade, and glad I could start using Clover for future update-proof-ness.

Details:

  • Booter: Clover v2.3k r3642 (required plist file here: http://pastebin.com/S9XQJuzK)
  • Required: SSDT.aml (http://pastebin.com/LVhhyUnr)
  • Copy ^this^ and paste into an empty file, force extension .aml, place into [/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/SSDT.aml]
  • Once you're all installed and stable, macOS needs minimal modification. Clover handles all kexts. You only need to delete the kext mentioned under Network below.

  • Boot flags: dart=0 kext-dev-mode=1 (required!)
  • Graphics - Tick.png Worked OOB
  • Network - Tick.png Worked with patched kext in EFI/Clover. *Must* delete IONetworkingFamily.kext from /S/L/E/
  • USB - Tick.png Worked with patched kext
  • USB 3.0 - Tick.png Worked OOB
  • SATA - Tick.png Worked OOB
  • App Store - Cross.png Could install macOS beta update, but not apps, getting error...
  • Sound - Tick.png Use CloverALC 120 command, give these answers "y" "y" "1"
  • Kernel - Tick.png Worked OOB
