This is a hardware compatibility list for 10.4.5 builds. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.4.4 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Kernels are available for most configured machines.

See the x86 software page for programs you can run without Rosetta.

REMEMBER: Emulated installations do not belong on this HCL

Acer Aspire 1520

AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+, 512MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 5700,Intel Pro 2200 Wireless, RealTek TRL8169/8110 Gigabit Ethernet

Installed under VMWare. Works fine, Ethernet and sound work out of the box. No Wireless (yet), Graphics using the macvidia driver, Battery using the patched powermanagement.bundle.NO QE, no DVD playback.

Installed directly on hardware, all media seem to suffer from a time-dilation-problem. CD's, QT movies, flash movies run at about 20% increased speed, giving the sound a helium effect. Additionally all sounds have a raspy and echoing effect to it and only works on the left speaker, leaving you with a less than impressive media experience.

Acer Aspire 3003LCi

Mobile Sempron 3000+, 512MB RAM, SiSM760GX, SiS900-based Network, SiS 7012 Audio.

Had to install under VMWare because the install DVD wouldn't boot. But works fine. Just no drivers for audio nor network or video.

And the dvd rom sucks............

Acer Aspire 5500

Intel Pentium M 1.73 GHz, Intel Pro 2200BG Wireless, Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet, ATI X700 Mobility, 1.25 Gb RAM

Had to install OS X under VMWare because DVD was not bootable. Using diskpart in Windows, I erased the D (primary) partition in my laptop, and was then able to format that partition with Disk Utility under VMWare.

Networking (both) is not working... yet.

Acer Aspire 5672

Intel Core Duo 1.66 Mhz, Intel Pro 3945ABG Wireless, Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet, Intel High Definition Audio, 2 Gb RAM

Installed 10.4.5 from MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso. Install was very quick. No ethernet or wireless. Fast disk access (xbench scores 50 times what I had on my Toshiba A65).

Audio is very good. Follow instructions here to get it working: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=8864 USB works fine. Bluetooth reports that its working, but I don't have any bluetooth devices to test against. I got wireless by picking up a D-Link DWL-G122 and downloading the Ralink 2500 drivers. Sometimes after a reboot I have to remove the USB adapter and put it back in.

ATI Mobility Radion X1400 not detected by OS, reports as VGA Compatible, 1024x768 (which looks stretched). NO QE, no DVD playback.

Otherwise works fine. Runs much faster than Windows XP.

Acer Aspire 5672 (not so happy)

Same Machine as Above, same specs and model number, Installed fine but can't get audio even with the patch, a bummer... also I can't get my OS/X to boot, w/o booting from the DVD and then inserting rd=diskXsY on the init session, hopefuly one of the supersmart people will figure how to fix those issues in the very near future and we all be happy.

Less Lucky than above, No Bluetooth, USB don't detect Thumb drives or other devices when plugged. drive speed is very good, no audio, video 1024x768 no kext loaded, VESA 3.0 detects 16MB only. no LAN or wLan (Try to upgrade bios!)

Acer Aspire 5562

Managed to install 10.4.5 into the laptop. OSX cannot detect the ATI Mobility Radeon x1400(M54), the sound card Realtek ALC883 @ Intel 82801 GBM ICH7-M and the network cards: -Lan:Driver Description Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet Driver Date 21/07/2005 Driver Version Driver Provider Broadcom INF File oem10.inf Hardware ID PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_169D&SUBSYS_00931025&REV_21 Location Information Bus PCI 2, periferica 0, funzione 0 PCI Device Broadcom NetLink BCM5789 Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Acer Travelmate 290

PM 1.5GHz (No-NX, PAE is not showing up in Systemprofiler nor /proc/cpuinfo under linux), 512MB RAM

Upgraded from 10.4.3 as well as from scratch (Partitioning done with cfdisk under Linux) installation works. So far all except WLAN (IPW2100) and QE&CI is working. For showing battery-usage install x-charge

UPDATE: After buying my first PCMCIA-Card found out that PCMCIA is not working here :( Now using xBattery instead of X-Charge as it is UB!

Acer Travelmate 2423WXM

SSE2 Celeron M 370 1.5 GHz FSB 400 MHz

10.4.4/5 by myzar working perfectly

GMA900 full QE and CI at 1280x800 resolution without patch (I've only made a vga dummy using a paper clip to bridge pin 6 & pin 12 of the external D-Sub connector)...Stereo sound and Mic working perfectly...Lan 10/100 works...USB 2.0 works...DVD Writer works..."FN" key works wiht all 2° function keys...All works great and fast...Itunes and Safari don't crash...iWeb and iWork work without problems...It's all for now

Acer Travelmate 2423NWCI (Very likely in Turkey)

SSE2 Celeron M 370 1.5 GHz FSB 400 MHz

10.4.4/5 by myzar working perfectly

Needs 1-6 2-12 Crossing on output VGA. Installation do not need external monitor. Just put dongle and go. Airport works with 1 liner patch. Audio output and input works. Full DVD Playback supported. FN Key works. Nearly an Apple ;)

Acer TravelMate 2413NWLMi

Intel Celeron M 370 (1.5GHz, 1MB)

10.4.5 by myzar working perfectly using the paperclipped external monitor trick.

Fast response for a relatively low-spec machine, iTunes (with iPod!) and Quicktime worked flawlessly. Even the function keys worked with volume and brightness. All four usb ports work, as does the ethernet. Modem and pcmcia not needed and therefore untested.

Only thing not working was the Broadcom BCM94318 wireless. This was fixed by advice from 'Dense' here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11614&hl= Now recognised and working at full speed. This was easier to set up than with Ubuntu Linux and Windows!

Perfect budget machine. Runs faster with 10.4.5 than with XP or Ubuntu.

Acer Travelmate 2423wmxi

SSE2 Celeron 1.5

10.4.5 myzar OS X working perfectly

GMA900 full QE and CI at 1280x786 resolution Atheros Wifi works perfectly - detects as airport AC97 sounds works perfectly Keyboard/Trackpad working DVD Writer Working Ethernet working USB 2.0 working

It's Great!

Only requirement was to construct a very simple vga dummy dongle to bring display to main screen.

Acer Travelmate 290E

Intel® Celeron® M processor 1300MHz, 768MB RAM, system is very smooth.

Same as above, except: Onboard Broadcom WLAN 802.11g mini-PCI Module is recognised as AirPort Extreme after IO80211Family.kext hack. Follow these instructions, adding <string>pci14e4,4320</string> to the IONameMatch array.

Acer TravelMate 3012WMTi (3010 series)

Intel Core Duo 1.66 Mhz, Intel GMA 950, Intel Pro 3945ABG Wireless, Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet, Intel Azalia HD Audio, 80Gb SATA, 1.5 Gb RAM

Install source: MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso. Crashed during first boot after install, but for the second try it booted fine, no problems ever since.

Works: Bluetooth, USB, Keyboard/trackpad, Firewire, Video (both internal and external, also QE and CI, all resolutions)

Does not work: Integrated webcam, Wired network, Wireless network (using D-Link DWL G122 instead), Audio (installed Azalia kext, volume icon appears, but still no sound...)

Acer Travelmate 804LCi

PM 1.7GHz, 1024MB RAM

Installed 10.4.4 with 10.4.5 patch and SSE2 hack. Installs and boots fine. ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 card uses ATI Mobility Radeon 8500 driver and works only in 1024x768. Ethernet, USB, external monitor, AC97 audio, Bluetooth and security card slot works natively. WLAN (Intel 2100 B mini PCI) does not work. Haven't yet tested trackpad or internal modem.

Acer Travelmate 8104wlmi

PM 2.0GHz, 1024MB RAM

Installed 10.4.5 myzar dvd. Installs and boots fine. replaced sound(applehda), video(atiradeon9700) & lan(ionetworkingfamily) kexts from working 10.4.3 install. All running excellently!

Same notebook, different experience: I was unable to get my lan to work. It has a Broadcom Netlink Gigabyte Ethernet. As far as I've read none of these devices are supported. Perhaps more information would help us?

I was abble to have network connection using Broadcom 5788 built-in Network Card. Download and Copy AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext from The Forum, and using HexEdit change Binary File AppleBCM5701Ethernet.

Sound with Realtek ACL880 is fine, after download and Copy AppleHDA.kext dan follow step from The Forum - http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=5064&st=100

Wireless Intelpro 2915abg still no luck, Firewire and Bluetooth not yet tested.

Not working: Intel WiFi, 56k6 Modem, RICOH cardreader, Realtek ALC861 HDAudio isn't recognized by Mac os x 10.4.4 parched 10.4.5

Asus S5N

Pentium M 1400MHz, Intel 855GM, 512MB RAM, 80GB 5400RPM.

Used 10.4.5 Install DVD and everything is running fine. The only two things that wouldn't work are the RICOH Cardreader and the Intel Wireless 2200 Adapter.

Asus Z71A

PM 1.6 OC to 2.13 GHz (SSE2, NO-NX), 512 DDR333, Intel 915GM, I installed from 10.4.3. I need a dummy s-video adapter to get QE & CI. I don't know if the modem works. Ethernet, sound, firewire, usb, trackpad works. Needs kext from 10.4.3 for ethernet. Needs a few Darwin kext (like AC97 and PS2). Also works with 10.4.5.

Asus Z80K

Athlon 64 2800+ 1.6ghz (SSE2), 1GB DDR266, Radeon 9700 Mobility, Broadcom 4306 wifi, Marvell Yukon gigabit ethernet. Upgraded from 10.4.3. Everything appears to be operational except the Ricoh card reader. Wifi was enabled by modifying the 80211 kext. Ethernet is recognized but I've not had a chance to test it. Native resolution 1400x1050 set by modifying boot plist and using mousepose to clear artifacts. Graphics acceleration is functional. Sound works with no issues. Needed modified kext to get battery meter.

I used myzar's release to install natively. Marvel Yukon Ethernet card is working now thanks to m.musashi's driver, get it here![3] Sound is line out/in missing, DVD Burner, Bluetooth and Trackpad are working perfectly. PCMCIA slot is also working. WebCam is not regonized. Screen resolutin is 1024x768, which looks quite ugly on the widescreen display. I have succesfully loaded the ATI9700 driver for x700 following the instructions in http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=10415. QE and CI enabled, PCIe and VRAM now correctly reported.

Asus A6Ja

Centrino Core Duo 2300/2400, chipset Intel 945PM, 512/1024 Mb DDR2 RAM, 80/100Gb HD, 15,4 TFT WXGA (1280x800/1650x1000), ATI Mobility RADEON X1600 128/256Mb (256/512mb w/ HyperMemory) AUDIO: Realtek ALC880 (same as Intel HighDef) - LAN: Realtek RTL8168/8111 - WIFI: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG - HD: FUJITSU MHV2100AT PL

Worked with a patched 10.4.5. Not sure what was patched. I had to start in safe mode to remove the ATI*.kext from the extension folder. Prob with network card. Still investigating ... Any advice is welcome For Audio I removed AppleHDA.kext and changed /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzalia.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist as described here : http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=5064

Any fix to get NIC and WIRELESS working?

other user: the wired NIC is now supported as of http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=29436

Asus A7Vc (NB)

PM 1,6ghz (SSE2), 512 MB RAM (also tested with 1GB Ram), ATI Mobility Radeon x700 128 MB, (more Model Informations) Works with 10.4.7, no WiFi, No TV, No BT, DVD-Burning not tested, screen ressoltion sticks at 1024x768 (can maybe fixed by koverg-patch).

Mac OS 10.4.5 (10.4.4 updated to 10.4.5) P M 2.4 1 GB RAM 60 GB HDD, 14.1" SVGA 1280X1024 LCD, 32 MB ATI RADEON 7500 MO, DVD-CD-RW

working with 10.4.1 and 10.4.5 SOUND, LAN WORK. W200 WIRELESS DOES NOT WORK

Other user: I do not recomment upgrading to 10.4.5. It may work correctly for someones, but I got more problems with this version than with 10.4.4. Update: If you experiment difficulties with touchpad/keyboard/pointing stick, go in yout notebook BIOS and try disabling touchpad/pointing stick, one or both. A USB mouse will work, and I suspect a USB keyboard to work too.

Mac OS X 10.4.5 Pentium® M 1.5 GHz, 512 Mb RAM, 60 Gb HDD, ATi Mobility Radeon 7500 32 Mb, 14.1 LCD 1400x1050, Combo drive. Sound works, LAN works (with patch). OpenGL, QE, DVD Playback, but only with 1024x768 resolution (max 1280x1024).

COMPAQ Presario V4000

Mac OS 10.4.5 (10.4.4 updated to 10.4.5) Pentium M 1.6Ghz, 512MB RAM, DVD-RW, 60GB HD, AC97

Dell Inspiron 1100

Celeron 2.0GHz, 512MB memory, Intel 845G integrated graphics, AC97 Sound, Broadcom 4400 ethernet. A friend of mine installed the patched Maxxus install CD on this machine and everything works absolutely great. All of the hardware functions, heck, even my WG511T cardbus wireless adapter is detected as an Apple Airport. :P The only program that crashes consistently is Quicktime.

Inspiron 1100 P4 2.4 512 40gb, Intel 845g wokes with sound, built in eathernet, and quiketime works but u must upgrade bios to version a28 i think(but get A31) and change the v ram in bios to 8mb(or it will all be garbled) even got my wirless dell truemobile 1300 pc card working(eventualy) and u most likly will need a usb keyboard and mouse to fix small problem with appleps2controller.kext then your keyboard and track pad will work, on the forum most of the answers lie, still screen won't shutoff in sleep mode, and not when u close the lid(yet) quicktime works, iworks06 works, iwork06(pages work(small fix on forum) keynote doesn't) and still got little problem with dvd player(built in dvd player won't work at all)

Dell Inspiron 1100

This is another configuration with a Pentium 4 2.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM, Intel 845G integrated graphics, AC97 sound, Broadcom ethernet, 100GB Fujitsu notebook drive, and the A32 bios. In addition, I'm also using the Netgear WG511T PCMCIA 108Mbps and it sees it as an Airport card. I'm also using the patched Maxxus install CD on this machine and everything works.

Make sure you don't run the UPDATE to the Mac OS X 10.4.8 (as of December 23, 2006) WITHOUT DOING AN IMAGE BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM. If you do, you won't be able to undo the upgrade. AGAIN, DON'T DO THE UPDATE TO Mac OS X 10.4.8 or you'll have to redo everything.

Dell Inspiron 1300

Base Specs
Intel Celeron M 2.1gHz
512 MB Memory
80GB IDE Hard Drive
Intel Integrated GMA 950
SigmaTel Stac 9200 Audio
Intel Integrated 10/100 Network

Changed Specs
Added 512MB (Total = 1GB Memory)
Added Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse

Installed from 10.4.5 Myzar DVD - Dual Boot with Windows XP SP2

Core Image and Quartz Extreme support due to GMA 950 Chipset
Sound from Sigmatel Stac 9200 not functioning
To get Airport to work: Need to modify IO80211Family.kext to add Model Number | Obtained Model Number from Windows XP Device Manager | Recognized as Airport Extreme after modifications

Video works great with support for Widescreen Resolution (1280x800), Quartz Extreme and Core Image
Running Firefox 2, Thunderbird 1.5, Shiira and Frostwire as Universal Apps
Apple iTunes 7 does not run for some reason (no SSE3?) - Rolled back to iTunes 6

Dell Inspiron 2650

CPU : Pentium 4m 1.7Ghz Video : Nvidia Geforce 2 GO Sound : AC97 Wifi PCMCIA card D-LINK DWL G650+(B1) Sound ok, keyboard and trackpad are functionnal.

I've got the famous PS2 keyboard problem on reboot... Well, I don't have a usb keyboard so I use a knoppix cd to edit directly my /etc/rc file. (see a post beyond to view the necessary modifications.) Into the knoppix root console, I mount my HFS+ partition by using a command like this: mount -t hfsplus /dev/hdax /mnt/hdax (where /dev/hdax is your mac HFS+ partition and /mnt/hdax is an existing directory...) I've also change directory permissions /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/ with chmod -R g-w

Dell Inspiron 5100

CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz (SSE2), Video: ATI Radeon Mobility 7500, Builtin Ethernet and Sound work perfect out of the box. Will need a modification to a kext file if using the Dell wireless miniPCI adapter. Native install from 10.4.4/10.4.5 patched DVD. No issues. Only drawback to this machine is lack of QE/CI (although you will get OpenGL acceleration with a minor hack) and lack of SSE3.

Dell Inspiron 6000

User 1: Celeron M 1.8 GHz, Intel Graphics, Onboard Audio, Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB

User 2: Pentium M 1.73 GHz (Pentium M 740), Intel 915 Graphics, Onboard Audio, Ethernet, Bluetooth, WLAN mini-PCI 2200LF, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive

Everything works fine (sound, bluetooth etc) except for the startup blue screen of death (all GMA 900 laptops are affected with this issue; to avoid it one must use a VGA dongle or plug it into an external monitor). Intel 2200 WiFi card does not work but can be replaced with a Broadcom one for full wireless functionality. Integrated SD Card reader also does not work. Computer also has problems with resuming the computer from sleep.

User 3: Intel 1.6 GHz (says 1.8), Intel 900gma video, Intel Ethernet, Netgear 108 wireless card

  - 512 MB RAM, 60 GB Hard Drive
  - darwin recognizes dual boot program (bootloader?)
  - boots with video dongle
  - booting with DVD upgrades drive in 30 minutes
  - when closing laptop lid, wireless disabled until restart
  - DVD burner with patchburn.de?
  - original commentary:

dvd works fine with 900gma intel video at 256 in system profile used reason with logic rewire fine few warnings have to config n get more ram all office programs work and also apture and photoshop and gl game second life wireless like airport card if i close the laptop have to restart 4 wireless other then that i love it has a dvd burner with burn patch for supported my sony dvd rw it fster then my g4 1.2 ibook and bigger i like it better have to get a batter metter but can look in power n see how much i got battery max charg like 6900 thats pretty good on xp it can last a little longer but its a dell mac 600 hahahah have qe and core image also it fast

User 4: Pentium M 1.4 GHz 1.2 GB RAM, 30 GB Hard Drive

  - blue screen problem solved with external monitor, now dongle

User 5: Pentium M / Centrino 2 GHz, ATI X300 128MB, Broadcom 10/100 Ethernet, 8X DVD+/-RW DL 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 10 GB Hard Drive

  - 10.4.5 setup ran smoothly

User 6: Centrino 750 2 go DDR Ati X300 128 Mo

  - Work fine !!
  -but no Wireless 2200bg !
  Universally Broken:
  - Intel WLAN 2915ABG
  - Intel mini-PCI 2200bg
  - SecureDigital card slot

User 7:
Intel Pentium M 730 1.6Ghz w/533FSB
40GB HD with Windows XP Home
80GB USB External Enclosure with Mac OS X 10.4.5
ATI Radeon X300 128MB
SONY D56A 8x DVD burner
Intel Pro Wireless 2200
Internal Broadcom 440x ethernet

Installation went VERY smoothly on my USB external enclosure. NO NEED FOR A DONGLE!!, at least not for me. I chainload it from my windows hard drive to get it to boot up.

The only drawbacks are the SD slot and the Wireless Intel Pro 2200 not working. Everything else works fine.

For the ATI x300, QE&CI are working fine after applying koverg's patch. You won't be able to make the resoultion any higher though. You will be stuck at 1024x768.

User 8:

- Intel Pentium M 1.86 Ghz 533Mhz FSB (no SSE3)
- 60GB External Drive (boots from bios)
- ATI x300 mobility 128MB (works with koverg's patch/screen tearing present at 1600x1200)
- Intel Pro Wireless 2915 (does not work)
- Broadcom 440x ethernet 10/100 (works fine)

User 9: Celeron M 1.4 GHz, Intel 915 Graphics, Onboard Audio, Ethernet, External Orinoco WLAN. Tried 10.4.4 and 10.4.5 (SSE2, SSE3) patched, but I don't apply SSE3 patches offcourse. 1.25 GB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive Darwin loader hangs on blue OS X background, tapping/moving around on the touch pad at the right moment seems to get past that. The blue login screen shows the beachball and the installation wizard. disk utility partitions and OSX installs, but loader hangs with blue background again on reboot.

Intel Duo T2300 (1.66GHz), 1GB Ram, Intel GMA950, Dell Wireless 1390 Native installation of myzar prepatched 10.4.5 dvd, the installation went quite smooth (though it was noticeably lagging sometimes such as running disk utility to format a partition). It supports GMA950 and Dell wireless but with no sound. The machine always hangs within a minute after it boots up when BIOS has multicore support on. Disabled the multi-core support in BIOS. The system runs smoothly now.

Wireless: Dell 1390 Wireless card detected as Airport and works fine. Intel 3945 WLAN does not work.

Sound: Sound does not work. External USB sound card required

Downloaded 10.4.4 with sse2 patch. Do not know which one. Mobility radeon (I believe 9600) Found as standard video, Native resolution is 1280x800, but OSX only runs at 1024x768. expect update to 10.4.6 to fix that. Dell truemobile 1450 a/b/g recognised as standard airport card, worked out of box. Keyboard/trackpad worked out of box. Volume keys worked out of box. Firewire and USB recognised, but are as yet untested. Rosetta emulation worked out of box, but slowly. Sound worked out of box.

Dell Inspiron 9100

2.8 GHz Pentium 4, 1GB RAM. All working with the Myzar DVD. Video (ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 Pro Turbo 128MB), Bluetooth (Dell TrueMobile Bluetooth Module), WiFi (Dell TrueMobile 1450 (802.11 a/b/g)), LAN (Broadcom NetXtreme BCM4401-A1), Audio(SigmaTel Audio WORKS). Display at 1280x1024, native res. 1680x1050.

Dell Inspiron 9300

1.8 GHz Pentium M, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon Mobility x300 128MB. Installed using Myzar DVD, no problems. Everything works just fine except for the lack of a wireless networking driver (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG) and some extras on the laptop (play/pause controls on the front, tapping touch pad to click, and using the side of the touch pad to emulate scroll wheel). No video kext loaded. Performance is excellent!

2 GHz Pentium M 760, 2GB RAM, GeForce Go 6800. Running under VMWare with Myzar DVD. VMWare is Virtual HD was set to Independent+Persistent and added a Bridged Network card. Slow, but works. AC97 Sound not perfect. Will try the native install :)

1.6GHz Pentium M, 1GB RAM, GeForce Go 6800. No keyboard or touchpad functionality without replacing ApplePS2*.kext with the versions on the DVD. Sound functional with the AC97 driver found in 3rdPartyDrivers. Wireless non-functional.

1.8 GHz Pentium M, 1GB RAM, GeForce Go 6800. Native install with Myzar DVD. Everything working but Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG. After installing Nvidia drivers Rosetta applications cause stuttering, such as audio in iTunes.

Dell Inspiron E1705

Intel Duo T2400 (1.83GHz), 1GB Ram, Intel GMA950, Dell Wireless 1390

Native installation of myzar prepatched 10.4.5 dvd, the installation went quite smooth (though it was noticeably lagging sometimes such as running disk utility to format a partition).

It supports GMA950 and wireless but with no sound. However the mac osx is unbearably unstable. The machine always hangs within a minute after it boots up. So I can’t really test if it supports other parts of hardware.

I am wondering if maxxuss patch is not compatible with Duo T2400 or it is driver issue……

[Disabled the multi-core support in BIOS. The system runs smoothly now. But still no sound]

Dell Inspiron E1705

Intel Duo T2500 (2.0 GHz), 1GB Ram, Gforce 7800

Native installaion of 10.4.5 dvd (disabled multi core support in Bios before install, took awhile to get to install screen, went very smooth through install) After installation was totally done i.e 2nd restart I enabled the multi-core and it ran very well. However It had no sound, it detected the ethernet card and 1934 Firewire but could never get it to go on line. The video would not let me change the resolution.

Dell Latitude C840

10.4.4 Native Patched DVD Install Upgraded to 10.4.5 with Patch and Maxxuss Instructions. Also with 10.4.5 Universal Install DVD.

Video: GeForce 4 440Go - Works with MacVidia Beta1 Build 4, as well as Beta2 Build 1 installer (1400*1050 75Hz).

Audio: Crystal CS4205 - Works (AppleAC97Audio.kext)

Network: 3Com-3C905 - Works

Keyboard/Mouse: Failed to recognize keyboard and touchpad after initial installation. Solved by replacing installed ApplePS2Controller.kext with the one from Darwin 8.0.1.

Have to F2 into bios on boot then ESC out to get screen to stretch to full size (not necessary with MacVidia Beta2 Build 1).

Dell Latitude D505

Centrino, P4-M 725 1.6GHz (SSE2), 855GM, Intel 2200BG

Installed native using patched 10.4.4 -> 10.4.5 DVD (Myz.iso). Required boot on another machine (via USB) to remove IOFireWire kexts before booting on the laptop.

Sound, ethernet, graphics work out of the box. No QE, no wireless, no battery power display.

Battery display can be added using kext on forum (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=14912). Works perfectly.

Update to Myzar 10.4.6 went fine, though again had to use as USB to delete IOFireWire kext.

I get about 1:30 battery life with the standard battery. Not bad, but not great.

Dell Latitude D510

Centrino, P4-M 725 1.73GHz (SSE2), Video Intel 915GM, Intel 2200BG

Installed native using patched 10.4.4 -> 10.4.5 DVD (.iso). Require external monitor to boot properly. If no external : stucked at blue screen before install and for each boot you need another monitor or "vga dongle" to boot up.

Sound, ethernet, graphics work out of the box. No wireless, no battery power display.

Dell Latitude D610

Working perfectly: Graphics 915GM (QE/CI, Dual Screen/Mirror Screen), Audio (In/Out/Mic), Wireless (Dell 1470/Broadcom 4318) as AirPort (14e4,4318), DVD playback, CD-RW Burner, Bluetooth (350), USB, ACPI (Battery Indicator, Sleep/Reset/Shutdown), Rosseta, Safari (with Flash 8), iTunes, Dual Boot along with Windows Media Center!!!!

Not working: Gigabit Ethernet (might work with patching using this solution, but I haven't tried since my wifi works great), PCMCIA.

Untested (Most likely doesn't work, without heavy patching or custom drivers): Infrared, Dial-up Fax/Modem (Who really cares?!?!)

Notes: Had to patch the IO80211FAMILY extension to get the Dell 1470 (broadcom 4318) recognized, but after it works flawlessly. (If using WPA, it occasionally drops the connection under HEAVY (1GB+ transfer) usage. Had to patch PowerManagement extension to get the battery indicator working. Now it shows % and time estimate correctly. VGA dongle or external monitor required to boot, else it will get stuck on blue screen. Everything else worked perfectly out of the box.

Installed native using patched 10.4.4 Restore DVD -> 10.4.5 DVD (using JaS updated patch). The Tiger OS is installed on an external USB HDD. At first, the PS/2 and AC97 kext can not work well, after reset permission and owernship of those kext, they work fine. Don't know if the sound adjust hard button works well(untested). The bluetooth adapter(internal but usb interface) works well, and can find my Nokia 9500 phone (and also a SE P900), can browsing phone's contents. Tried to use PPP Dial Up Network with my 9500 using GPRS, but unsuccessfull (probably the way of dialing is incorrect but not fault of the OS or phone).

No QE/CI at present, with np_'s beta1build3 i can get [email protected], and works both in safe mode and normal mode after some fix in the XXXX/Contents/Info.plist, changing "Boot Safe" to "Root", then everything is ok. Beta1build5 also works well.

Ethernet (Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5751 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 01) 14e4:1677) and wireless(2200bg) don't work. PCCARD/PCMCIA (Texas Instruments PCIx515 Cardbus Controller) have no support either. Need to get some other MiniPCI or an USB-card to get network connection :-(

BroadCom BCM5705E Ethernet ----------------- Non-Functional; I haven't tinkered with it too much so it may work, update later.

Other than the above, everything works great for the excetion that I have to connect a monitor to the laptop in order to fully boot into OSX 10.4.5. Also, once in OSX, if I should place it in sleep mode and then awaken it, I lose all touchpad functions. I have yet to try with a USB mouse. Network connection is non-existent at the moment, as noted above. Once the OS is up and running it runs beautiful, even faster than a iBook G4!!! I will update when I learn more.

Gateway M305CRV

HP Compaq Evo N800c

Pentium 4 Mobile 1.7 GHz, SSE2, 768 MB RAM, Radeon 7500 in VESA mode

Installed from bootable DVD-R MaC.OsX.10.4.5.Universal.Install.DVD(INTEL_AMD_SSE3_SSE2).iso, including Intel_Base, SSE2, and 10.4.5 update packages. (the DVD is 10.4.4, updates to 10.4.5 if you choose). After installed system indicates 10.4.5 build 8G1454.

Had problems recognizing PS2 keyboard and trackpad and AC97 audio after install was completed. Boot single user mode (-s -x -v). follow on-screen instructions to fsck and mount -uw /. (Alternatively, use usb keyboard and mouse after boot). Solution / fix was to 'chmod -R g-w foo', where foo is the directories :

/System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/ /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/ /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext/

(file ownership of root:wheel was already correct, although others have had to do 'chown -R root:wheel foo' on affected directories)

Hardware is HP Compaq Evo N800c running Firmware 68P4M version 2.49 dated 05/08/2002. Will try with newer firmware and post results (this firmware is very old. windows bootup or floppy drive needed to upgrade firmware, see hp.com). 768 MB RAM installed.

Onboard Intel NIC works. Also using D-Link dlink DWL-AG660 aka DWLAG660 hardware version A1 firmware version 1.29, recognized as AirPort, works great.

Laptop tries to goes to sleep on lid close; processing seems to stop, but power is still on. "Resume" happens fine on open.

Clock looses a lot of time. Workaround is to force manual ntp updates more often. Find the hostname/ip for an NTP server on your local network, or at your ISP. Enter this address in the Date & Time prefernces panel. Then, from terminal, sudo crontab -e

Add this line:

18 0,6,12,18 * * * /usr/sbin/ntpdate -u >> /Library/Logs/Console/501/console.log

You can watch the console log for the size of the NTP adjustments.

Display brightness keys work fine, no hacks. (Function F7 and Fn F8)

Confirm onboard ATI Radeon 7500 works in vesa 2.0 mode 1280x1024x32. Don't know how to display laptop's native resolution of 1400x1050 (help!). Most apps look fine, except for Terminal at smaller font sizes.

With original install to 10.4.5, OpenGL didn't work on this Radeon 7500. Some apps crash, such as Chess and screensaver preferences, as noted in 10.4.3 N800c notes on other wiki page. CONFIRMED FIX is to backrev these two directories to 10.4.1 files (of course backup any changes you make!)

See message #47 and message #123 in this thread: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=11134&hl=7500&st=40

Get the 10.4.1 versions for these two directories ONLY: /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework/ /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonGLDriver.bundle/

as documented elsewhere, Extensions folder changes require: 1. backup & replace necessary subfolders under /System/Library/Extensions 2. backup & remove /System/Library/Extensions.mkext 3. same for Extensions.kextcache 4. kextcache -k extensions 5. Reboot

No battery status display. Couldn't find the right app for battery display, coconutBattery crashes (Universal build). X-Charge for PPC PowerPC runs fine under Rosetta and displays correct battery charge http://www.pol-online.net/. You have to keep an eye out, it will not shut down/sleep the machine at lowbatt point. Battery lasts about 1.5 hours due to lack of power management.

Internal Toshiba SD-R2102 DVD-ROM/CD-RW. Burns CD-R in Finder just fine. Reads CDs and DVDs. DVD playing works, but lots of artifacts due to lack of a good video driver for the Radeon 7500.

Bluetooth works great with iogear GBU221WM aka Broadcom, please see Components page.

Rosetta runs slow.

XCode 2.2 full install went fine. OpenDarwin compile and install fine as per instructions at http://www.darwinports.org/getdp/ (do NOT install the OpenDarwin DMG, this is only compiled for PPC PowerPC!)

Overall, machine is very usable for web, office apps, and iTunes, but you can forget moving video until a Radeon 7500 driver appears.

HP Compaq NC8000

Sound works w/microphone. (driver needed).
Network adapter works (driver needed).
Bluetooth works.
Battery is not found.
Touchpad works.
Volume buttons works.
QE and CI works (scrolling artifacts), getting 1400x1050x32 by modifying com.apple.boot.plist.
WLAN does not work. (onboard Atheros W400/Intel 2200BG)
Reads CD/DVDs. CD-RW works. DVD-RW works.
Internal modem is not tested.
Firewire is not tested.
Don't know if SpeedStep is working.
System fan is working as it should.
Sleep works with "platform=ACPI".

Use the F9/F10/F11 trick to get rid of garbled image when scrolling/moving windows or simply install Mouseposé.

WLAN (atheros) worked for me by 1) Install 10.4.4 without 10.4.5 update. 2) install driver and configure onboard ethernet before continuing 3) Run 10.4.5 update 5) Configure WLAN in System Pref 6) Repatch onboard network Adapter. Be sure to chmod -R 755 and chown -R root:wheel to make your changes stick!

I can confirm that this trick works on my nc6000, with an onboard atheros card, and a broadcom PCMCIA card. I could update to 10.4.5 during the install, so, that might not be required.

Volume buttons works. Brightness function buttons work
Graphic card works with acceleration: QE and CI works after patching ATIRadeon9700.kext with koverg-patch (but with small scrolling artifacts), getting 1280x1024x32 by modifying com.apple.boot.plist. Native resolution 1680x1050 available using Callisto (built 300), combined with koverg patche you get QE and CI running. Don't forget to enable Quartz 2D Extreme using QuartzDebug.
WLAN does not work. (Intel 2200BG) However I use a WLAN USB Stick with RaLink Chipset and appropriate driver (Conceptronic C54RU)
Reads CD/DVDs. CD-RW not tested. DVD-RW not tested.

Ethernet works no new driver needed.
Bluetooth works no new driver needed (always works for MX1000 mouse, DiNovo keyboard loses connectivity occassionally).
Battery meter works with hacked drivers (see forum).
Touchpad, keyboard working.

I've tested many ways to install Mac OSX 10.4.5 native and I found out that (for me) there was only one way to install it. Boot the 10.4.5 DVD (UNPLUG MOUSE OR YOUR INSTALL WILL FREEZE!), and when installed and you're gonna boot it, it will hang again. Solution: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=1522 , or you can simply plug an external monitor on it. Since this isn't really the purpose of a laptop, I suggest you take the first option :) Wireless not working (yet), ethernet does work without problem. ( I did try 10.4.5 ealier without Myzar's PPF4 patch being limited to VMWare, and some people say the 10.4.5 Update takes out the ATI 200x kext. I would stay away from the 10.4.5 and 10.4.6 updates for now to be safe. You probably wont be able to boot native with them. EDIT: I own an HP dv5000 and was able to boot native by taking a kext related to the PC Card slot out of the Extensions folder. I'm not exactly sure if this was the fix, but most everything works properly and I run it 100% of the time now.

Read about my confirmed Native Boot with v10.4 here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.4/Portables#HP_Pavilion_DV5000

HP Pavilion dv8000t

Intel Core Duo (supports SSE3), DDR2 memory, 1 or 2 SATA drives, GeForce 7400 Go, 1680x1050 widescreen, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945, Intel ethernet, Intel ICH7 HD Audio
Successful triple boot of OS X, Gentoo Linux, and Windows MCE 2005 using GRUB

  • All SATA and CD/DVD drives and controllers work fine out of the box
  • Needs to have AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleACPIThermal.kext removed to correctly boot (might be fixed in future notebook BIOS versions) -- needed to prevent the incorrect second temperature sensor reported by the BIOS from slowing down the core to almost nothing
  • Audio needs AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist edited with AudioCodecVendorID set to 0x14f15047, and AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist edited with IOPCIPrimaryMatch set to 0x27d88086, and finally needs AppleHDA.kext removed -- builtin mute and volume buttons work
  • Full 1680x1050 resolution achieved with np_'s macvidia driver beta1 build3 or higher, device id 01d8
  • Onboard LAN needs IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleIntel8255x.kext/Contents/Info.plist edited to contain 0x10928086 in the IOPCIMatch
  • Wireless (ipw 3945) does not work yet
  • Bluetooth works fine out of the box with no tweaking

HP Pavilion zd7000

2.8GHz P4 (SSE2, PAE), 40G HD, GFGo5200, 768MB RAM, Broadcom (4320) WLAN

10.4.5 Install DVD (Myz Patched) works well by itself, including:
- Hardware volume buttons and mute.
- Wired LAN
- Broadcom (DEV 4320) doesn't work intitially, but the forum thread here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=&showtopic=4641&view=findpost&p=43794 details how to get it working, and it works now.
- GeForce 5200Go video not natively detected, bur works in VGA-Compatible mode - MacVidia driver Beta5 works! And at 1440x900, no less! No QE/CI, and it still says "PCI" but still well worth it.
- Synaptics touchpad operates natively. Preferences pane can get the tap-clicking to work, but scrolling is not working.

Items that don't work:
Sleep doesn't work - screen stays active, though applications appear to stop.

Finding out other items as I continue playing...

zd7000 works perfectly with the Myzar DVD, which can also be installed in any partition size, even from 0. While you can discover plenty of toys inside the system once installed, there are also some stuff to take in count:

  • The Macvidia driver won't make your screen look better (no strange resolutions for your 17", like Zeta or BeOS drivers do) but its worth installing anyway, cause you'll notice you can play with colors afterwards. It's not the kind of things that make Doom 3 run, but it's a beginning. Sometimes you'll notice there appears to be blinkings from time to time. You slve it going to the tools and repairing permissions. No idea why, but this is the way I solved it.
  • Make the network installation from 0 if you run an iDisk on your desktop, do *NOT* use ethernet to download the stuff and install afterwards. If you do, network will run, but the iDisk won't: it says you are not connected to the internet, even if you have cable. While the .Mac support gives you a list of files to delete after unstalling your local iDisk, and then reinstall, it's simply easier and faster to download the stuff using Windows, and then installing them from OSX. If, like in my case, you did the wrong way, you'll notice you can't delete folders either, not even from windows. No idea why, but it seems OSX86 have problems with Apple servers. Use Goliath to do the dirty job.
  • No security updates. They only tell the apps part, but you won't be able to boot afterwards. Be careful updating Apple apps in general, but green light to others (antivirus updates, Office updates... latest one is very good).
  • I downloaded the 10.4.4 extensions to bittorrent. You can find them there.
  • Use the boot.ini trick to boat a dual partition. Some programs, like bootman, loads OSX the first time, then nothing.
  • If you work with several languages, you'll notice tat Safari crashes. While the crash trick (clicking on "using Rosetta to open it") works fine, these crashes are not for the same reasons, and Safari will open slightly slower. To solve the easy way, change codification to western european. Every page in any language will load fine, and no more crashes.
  • Bluetooth works, ad so isync (tested with V3, P800 and Vertu).
  • Inside the Myzar distro you will find something named "infrared". I used it the same way as the net, and while I cannot use any IR synchro, red lights pop up from time to time looking for devices. Making it work fullly has more to do with devices than with OSx86. This Myzar did a great job, by the way.
  • Feel fre to use FileVault, even with the virtual memory cleaning.
  • Sound works, cleaner than in XP. Use Skype to try.

HP Pavilion zd8000

3.2GHz P4 (SSE3, PAE), 80G HD, Radeon x600 Mobility (1440x900x32 Max), 2G RAM, Broadcom 4318 WLAN

10.4.5 Install DVD works fine (patched, like above): - Hardware volume buttons and mute work.
- Wired LAN works.
- Broadcom 4318 requires the following fix mentioned here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=&showtopic=4641&view=findpost&p=43794 - just change 4313 to 4318. Follow it, the duplication of the "pci14e4,4312" seems to be OK, it works for me.
- ATI Radeon x600 Mobility works with the hack mentioned here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=10415&hl=x600 - But only in 1024x768x32 (max 1280x1024x32 with boot options). No 1440x900x32. Use the device id 3150. Minor mouse errors persist.
When I tried to install that fix, it caused my computer to start making unbareable noises when I moved the mouse over responsive icons or activated a program. Removing the driver fixed the problem. My guess is that installing a driver that might force the video card to work harder than it is, i.e. running the x600 at the specifications of the x700, might cause the card to overwork itself. I would encourage other users not to use a driver that overclocks the video card in such a blunt way.
- Battery Icon and Power Management- If your install doesn't display the battery icon, try the steps taken on the following post: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=2237 . Installing the driver update added the percentage remaining, but may not show the amount of time remaining until you reboot. Another good app to use to measure batterylife is SlimBatteryMonitor, which is available for free.
Sleep stops programs and network connections, but the screen is still on.

S/PDIF output from a xb2000 expansion base does not work. Sound can be outputted from the expansion, as well as USB, but S/PDIF does not show up in the audio control panel.
As an addendum: - Bluetooth works.
- Impressive interface speed up by disabling beam sync in quartz extreme debug.

Edit: I had difficulty restoring the kernel from the 10.4.5 Myzar install DVD to one that supported SSE3. Bassically my 10.4.5 install used unnecessary SSE3 emulation. Restoring the kernel to one patched only for the TPM caused a system hang at boot up. I opted to go the route of 10.4.3 install -> 10.4.4 -> 10.4.5 and then edited all my drivers for my hardware similar to the above (Although I also used PhB's FFScroll and trackpad driver for two finger scrolling, setting the sensitivity and speed to lowest, and the accept threshold to 100 was perfect for the touchpad). This method ensured SSE3 support. I have also full hardware support with this method. I am not ruling out the possiblility of a kernel restore, maybe the kernel was included with the install and I didnt notice. Question to the poster: were you able to restore SSE3 support, or does your system profile still not list SSE3 and NX?

For me it did not work the way other users describe it here. Major Problem is that the Keyboard has too much deadkeys. chars like "><[]{}" just dont want to work on my ZD8318 Laptop with both, 10.4.4 and 10.4.5. The pity is that i cannot edit shit without those chars (well it can be done by copy&paste if u have those signs already somewhere but that sucks)

6-7-2006 EDIT: I just loaded up Callisto's drivers (build 3...the latest as of today broke my machine, but a quick removal and replace fixed it back) "http://omni.starchaser.org", cleared the kexts and rebooted to have 1680x1050 in all it's glory. Mouse cursor sometimes disappears in Parallels, but I cannot see how I lived with that ugly resolution for so long! Everything is good, speed is a little sluggish on this beast, but OS X never was snappy.... sephiroth_4..out

Overall OSX runs great but has limited usefulness on systems with a x200 southbridge because of lack of video acceleration and sound support

IBM ThinkPad T30 2366-57U

Method: Patched OSx86 DVD, installed on primary hard drive
Operating system: 10.4.5 (Maxxuss modifications from TPB)

Hardware: 2GHz Pentium4 Mobile, 1 GB RAM, ATI video card 8MB, Intel Pro/100 Ethernet, Intel 802.11b wireless, Cisco PCMCIA 802.11b/g wireless, bluetooth

Ethernet works fine.

Bluetooth works.. Fn-F5 toggles it on and off. Cisco PCMCIA Wireless ethernet (802.11b/g) works and shows up as an ordinary Airport card.Internal Wireless card not detected.

Fn-F3 should turn off the display, but this does not work. LCD brightnes controls (Fn-Home and Fn-End) work, as does the keyboard light (Fn-PgUp).

Sleep function does not work fully. Activating the sleep function only causes the hard disk to spin down. Closing the screen of the ThinkPad causes the hard disk to spin down and the screen to turn off.

Volume down, volume up and mute buttons work, but the OS does not provide on-screen feedback when these buttons are used.

The touch pad + trackpoint on the keyboard both work fine.

Display works at 1280x1024

except :
- power management (fixed with the right patch)
- graphic card (fixed with the Radeon 7500 Driver by Rogabean (mAti7500.zip))
- wifi (intel mini pci does not work with osx86)
I fixed the wifi by using my pcmcia card :
3com Office Connect 108 Xjack
which is seen as an airport without patch :)
with a dual boot XP/OSX and a third partition in FAT32 for common data for both OS...
Happiness :)
