This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.4.6 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Kernels are available for most configured machines
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.4.6 builds only.
Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!
See the x86 software page for programs you can run without Rosetta.
Acer Aspire 1652WLMi
Intel pentium M 740, speedstep working out of the box with 10.4.3, need for ACPICPUthrottle for other versions, ATI Radeon x300 working with koverg's patch for QE and CI, omni's driver for resolution 1280x800, removed mouse tearing using mouse locator, and beam synchro off with the quartz simle program. Intel wireless pro 2200 bg doesn't work so i bought a new mini pci broadcom one... Using Insomniax, so it won't go to sleep. Using new keyboard layout. DVD burner pioneer working flawlessly. USB working well. Dual booting with acronis and also acronis enables usb booting which was not possible with my notebook. What doesn't work: not showing battery status event using modified powermanagment.bundle (no battery detected), PCMCIA, and battery works for about 2 hours and 4 in windows, due to lack of video power savings. When upgrading to 10.4.7, it's going mutch slower. But it's working 2times faster than my xp... . . . .

Bold text==Acer Aspire 1692WLMi== Running MacOSX 10.4.7 upgraded from 10.4.4. Installing MacOSX presented no issues whatsoever. What works: A lot of stuff including sound, touchpad, all USBs, DVD+-RW, Ethernet Broadcom 5788 (with AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext patched), Video drivers (ATI Mobility Radeon x700), can watch videos perfectly (DivX, Xvid, WMV). It's really nice having Mac OS X almost fully working now, I have Office, Adium, iLife. What doesn't work: Card Reader, Resolution 1280x800 (really, really a shame), Intel Wifi, Conexant Modem.
Acer Aspire 1710 Model: DT3

Acer Aspire 5612WLMi
- Core Duo T2300 @ 1,66GHz:
Works natively SSE3. 2Cores Okay.
- Video Card (NVidia GM950 graphic):
Works natively. 1280x800 Okay. (But no QE)
- DVD+-R at 8x (HL-DT-ST_DVDRAM_GSA-4082N):
Works natively. Okay
- Network (Broadcom 440x):
Works natively. Okay
Not working at all.
You need to flash the BIOS to 2.10 or a greater version. ( Some notebooks came with BIOS updated. Then you don't need to flash. )
- Battery, you need a fix to show the monitor:
- Azalia Audio HD (Realtek High Definition Audio):
- W-LAN (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network):
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36976 ( Intel 3945 [ Latests topics ] )
If you don't want to wait for a stable driver for Intel3945ABG you can follow this topic:

Acer Ferrari 3400
Specs: Athlon 64 3000+, 512 MB, 80 GB, ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Using JaS' 10.4.6 Install DVD. Everything works out of the box except: Sound and Battery Meter. Still haven't figured out a fix to the sound (not detected). Battery Meter can be added by following the 10.4.6 install guide. On first run, wifi is already enabled and detects networks. After restarting it vanishes. Do this to fix it: -Open Terminal -Type sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist -Change the line <string>en0</string> to <string>en1</string>. -Change the line <integer>0</integer> to <integer>1</integer>. -Press Ctrl+o, then Enter to save. Ctrl+x to exit. -Reboot -Open Network Preferences. It should detect a new Airport Interface, click Okay. -Click Show > AirPort -Click "Apply Now" Voila.
Video works with QE/CI. Had to force 1400x1050x32 in com.apple.Boot.plist. Note that after doing this, some distortion appears. Mouse flickers slightly, and when windows are moved or scrolled, they're completely distorted. You can make the windows re-appear by minimizing and reshowing them. Also, hitting F9, F10, or F11 twice (transition and back) will not only restore the windows' appearance, but prevent them from getting distorted again until they're closed. DVDR/W/RAM drive can read CDs and DVDs with no issues. Is detected as a burner, but can't burn.
Acer Travelmate 660/661
Running MacOSX 10.4.6 upgraded from 10.4.5. Installing MacOSX presents no problems. After installation some hardware doesn't work correctly. Needed patches are: ACPIThrottle 1.0 for ACPI power management, edit boot config file for 1280x1024 VESA resolution (no QE/CI possible yet), custom AC97 sound driver, custom PowerManagement bundle to show battery status. AMR Modem and Intel WLAN NOT working, no patches available. Otherwise full functionality.
Acer Travelmate 3002
Pentium M 740 Chipset, 1.7Ghz with SSE2, 1280 DDR2 Ram
Notes: Using JaS' 10.4.6 Install DVD. Not very successful. Setup was very picky to get up and running due to HDDs partition setup.
Working: Video (External Monitor via VGA Output only); Firewire(External DVD Combo Drve); Bluetooth; USB... Not Working: Audio; Wifi (Intel 2200BG); LAN; Modem; ACPI Battery/Sleep Functions... Not Tested still: DVD Burner, Laptop Function Keys
Perfect installation. no LAN, Modem, Wireless .
Acer Travelmate 2410
Everything works except modem, which is not recognised at all. And sleep
Needs two-wire paperclip dongle for internal display (initially, you need to press Fn-F5 twice during the grey apple-screen, otherwise the picture will be on the external display)
Battery status works with the customised PowerManagement.bundle.
Internal Atheros AR5005g WiFi card works and recognised as an AirPort card after switching the IO80211Family.kext in your System/Library/Extensions folder with one extracted from the "Mac OS X 10.4.5 for Intel" updater from Apple (There was a thread about this on Insanelymac somewhere...)

I Used the JaS 10.4.6 OSx86 Install DVD rom, booted up fine, Sound worked great, Touch pad worked (though tap to click diddnt) Both 'mouse' buttons worked fine..
EVERYTHING Worked except the WiFi (to be expected, im looking for a driver for it though), the GFX worked, though there was no 3D acceleration options, and no Quartz Extreme etc...
I did not try the firewire, or the Infra Red, the Cardbus (PCMCIA) was aparently installed and working (System profiler said so atleast) the USB worked, and everything else was fine, even the lan and standard Modem were detected, and worked...
Installed without a hitch, Installed the Intel Patches that were on the JaS DVD, Diddnt need to pre-partition using a BSD Live CD or anything like that, Just partitioned via Disk Manager during isntallation...

Using JaS' 10.4.6 Install DVD.
You must use the exteral VGA short or the DVD will not boot. I used a trimed down paperclip to short pins 2 and 12 on the external VGA connector (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=14902&hl=paper+clip). The installation works perfectly most onboard devices are detected and work right out of the box. This includes the LCD screen, keyboard (widows key and alt key need to be switched), and trackpad. The built in Marvel networking card is now supported with this driver (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=15700). ACPI support for the battery and battery mode can be found here (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=14912&st=0). The LCD brightness function keys work, volume keys do not, others have not been tested. As i only have a Z63A i was unable to test Bluetooth support. Speedstep is still not working but they will get it soon :)

Installation process goes through without an issue. Once at desktop install Callisto's b03 (found here), edit the ATIRadeon9700.kext with the device id 4e50 (there's two places where the 9700 id appears) and replace IONDRVFramebuffer <string> value with CallistoFB. Before rebooting install the newest AGPGart from joblo10 (found here), delete extensions.mkext and extensions.kextcache, repair permissions and restart. All resolutions and QE/CI functional after these actions. Thereafter to deal with the mouse tearing I suggest using Mouse Locator (details here). USB 2.0 fixed via these steps.

Installation with 10.4.6 iso was fine. Wireless works if you download the os x drivers from RAlink's website and install them. You might have to install the drivers by making the Installer program run via rosetta. Did not think it would be that simple. Sound works after changing settings in Audio MIDI setup (left speaker only). Volume controls do work. Use the pinxue rhine driver to get wired ethernet working. To get USB fully working, download IOUSBFamily-256.4.2(Intel)-log.dmg from the apple developer website. Make sure to get the correct matched version. Everything looking pretty good except for the video currently.

To enable QE,you should install GMA900 driver by your self from Install DVD.
Tested and working 100% with JAS 10.4.6 install DVD (Compaq m2000 celeron m 1.3). Choose customize when installing and select GMA900 + SSE2 patch + wireless adapter driver. Only card reader doesnt work. OS X runs beautifully on this machine!!!
Works completely with 10.4.6 JAS. Make sure to custom install and select the patches: 10.4.6 Combo Update Intel Base system + SemJaza v1.2 Decrypts, GMA900, sse2 patch, and wireless adapter driver. DON'T FORGET TO ACTIVATE BOOT FLAGS FOR YOUR PARTION!

AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD.
ATI XPRESS 200M: Callisto drivers resulted in blank screen. Could not get any resolution other than 1024x768. Touchpad/keyboard: Would only work with IOUSBFamily.kext completely removed (no USB at all). Conexant AMC Sound: Could not get to work (audio family drivers depend on USB, apparently). Wireless: The system ran incredibly incredibly slow unless wireless was disabled in the BIOS (MiniPCI, perhaps?) so that was a no go. Realtek 8139 NIC: Worked fine.
The system ran and with decent performance. Without CI/QE and a working video driver the display performance left a lot to be desired. Without wireless and sound, however, I'd be hard pressed to call the install a success.
Compaq Presario V3016US

Installed with no problem. Did not need to disable 1 core. Running at native correct resolution 1280x800 without any tweaks USB works Hotkeys for volume seems to work because Mac OS displays icons when pressing those keys, but Audio itself does not work DVD burner seems to work
Not Work: SD/SM/XD/MSD Card Reader NIC or Wireless network card (an intel card) don't work. Audio not working, did not test Firewire. System seems to be running stable. I believe Audio can be fixed to work.

Dell Inspiron 1100
OSx86 10.4.6 Native with Multiboot Boot to Windows XP Pro. Install windows first and the OS selector. Then boot to OSx86 DVD. Not very hard.
Had problems with the first install becuase I couldn't see what I was doing, the picture was all messed up. If you are having this problem go into your BIOS and switch the video memory from 1MB to 8MB. If you are unable to do this then it is time to update your BIOS.
Took a while to figure out how to get the sound working. Search in Google for Sigmatel osx86, found insructions in the Forum that way. Ethernet was working already. Video worked as soon as I switched to 8MB in the BIOS. CD/DVD drive worked without a mod.
Dell Inspiron 1100

OSx86 10.4.6 Native (HOT OSX TIGER 10.4.6.DMG)
Did not bother with XP, complete 40G Partition setup for this OS X install, on setup choose sparingly with all settings, the less you choose the more likelihood of success, this took me 8 evenings after work to finally get to boot up, I did not select sound or vga during install/setup, the install came out with sound drivers working and video operational along with RJ45 Network to local home network.
Apple Network configured for $16 USB WIFI (Tenda 802.11 N) Application is solid and fast, much faster than XP Home, so all in all a good weeks worth of your time, if you can be bothered.
NOTE: Do Not try to update OS X or you will end up with a non-booting system, this wipes out the Kexts.

Pentium M 1.5GHz, ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 (dev 4c66 -- use Compaqx1000.zip for AGP), Sigmatel 9750, 512m DDR ram, swapped 2200 for Broadcom wireless. Installed JaS 10.4.6 and .7; everything works: 2d acceleration, multiple resolutions, wireless, sound, once AGP is activated 2d graphic acceleration and PCMCIA card slot become active. Update powermanagement.bundle for battery meter. Solid system, 2d accel is quite smooth on this platform, including full screen video playback support. xbench is respectable considering my slow hardware, 44.56.

Dell Inspiron 2200
Celeron 1.8, Intel GMA900.
Installed from Jas 10.4.6 DVD to internal drive as only OS. In the patches section, only selected the 10.4.6 combo update, SSE2, Wireless, and GMA900 drivers. Reboot and things ran very well.
Wireless: Working perfectly
Sound: Works, even volume up and down keys on keyboard. (Didn't work if I selected any of the sound options in the patches during installation, had to turn them all off.)
Video: Works with the paperclip trick. Had to install GMA900pkg.dmg from http://art5dog.com/GMA900pkg.dmg to get QE and CI working. Password for the dmg is "good1time".
USB2: Works fine. Tested with iPod.
Battery: Need to install this patch to get battery meter to show.
Sleep Mode: Goes to sleep fine. Waking up is a problem. Sometimes it displays the second monitor on the main screen so I can't see anything. Sometimes it wakes up but the track pad is unusable, makes the cursor move very fast and jerky.
All up a very usable system. Thanks to Sarah for letting me commandeer her laptop. :)

Added battery indicator support. Not able to change screen resolution, have not yet found compatible drivers, but otherwise nearly 100% working.
Dell Inspiron 6000
Pentium M 1.6gHz, Intel 915 video, Intel 2200bg wireless. No wirless but everything else is working fine with the clean install of Jas' 10.4.6 release (with the exception of the external monitor problem...). I applied the Intel patches during installation and have QE and CI working too. The wireless patch didn't do the trick for the 2200bg.
USER 2:Used 10.4.6 JaS Installation - Broadcom NIC detected as 'Built-In Ethernet' and works fine. I had to do use the Callisto drivers for the Radeon Mobility X300 to work, still don't have QE/CI though, and when I did the other common video patch to enable them - I got the trippy acidic screen with blocks. The things that aren't functioning: Built In SD Card Reader / Dell 2915ABG Wifi. I haven't tried a PCMCIA card yet, so I'm unsure if the slots work.
Note to USER 2: I had the same problem with trippy graphics so I copied over the drivers and OpenGL frameworks from 10.4.5/10.4.5 and it worked, but any App that used Quartz/Core seemed to be very unstable and crash. I ended up using Callisto with the koverg patch and 10.4.4 and it is solid as a rock, despite mouse tearing or flickering. Sound is also very loud, but not clipping (which is how I like it :)
USER 3: Pentium M 1.6GHz, ATi Mobility X300 graphics, Intel 2200bg wireless. All the essentials working perfectly (although stuck at 1024x768 screen res and too much of a newbie to get it to 1280x800) Using JaS' 10.4.7 clean install. Took about 20 minutes to get my disk to boot Windows again but otherwise all good. One annoyance I have is that sometimes the system will freeze up and I have to reboot. Also I can't get iTunes 7 to work as it keeps throwing up a "Not enough memory" error which im still trying to fix.
USER 4: Pentium M [email protected] (pin-mod), 1Go RAM, Intel 915 video, 2200BG, WSXGA+. Using Hotiso image, all (but 2200bg) work fine, I'm using Wi-Fi by an Asus WL-167G USB stick. I've made the "VGA 2 wires" mod in order to boot the installation and the OS without using an external monitor. After download of a french pc keyboard layout, I can type special characters ; the screen goes automatically at 1680*1050 after installation and effects are very nice and fast. Dual boot with Windows XP, using Acronis Disk Manager. - Excuse me for my bad english -
USER 5: - If there is a hard drive or administrator password on your Inspiron 6000, beware! MacOS 10.4.6 will not install unless you remove these passwords. The hard drive also shows up as SATA; does not mean anything as long the partition shows up. UBMICRO FOREVER
USER 6: - Pentium M 2.0, 1GB RAM, ATI Mobility X300 128MB, WXGA LCD. Graphics working in 1280x800 with Callisto 003 (008 gives a white screen on bootup). QE/CI working by patching ATIRadeon9700.kext and ATIRadeon9700GA.kext, but with the usual mouse trails. Sound and Bluetooth are natively supported. Devices not working are the internal modem (Conexant D110), wireless LAN (Intel 2915ABG), and the SDIO controller. The PCMCIA slot works to the point that the System Profiler will detect my TV tuner card, but there's no support for it. Therefore a supported card should work. .
USER 7: - Intel Centrino 1.67GHz, 2GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon M24 128MB, 2200BG and SigMatel Audio. Everything seems to be working so far except the resolution (stuck at 1024x768) and the wireless. I managed to get CI/QE to work, and still looking for OpenGL drivers, but I tried multiple methods of changing the resolution, all resulting in 1024x768 (mine supports 1280x800). Also, I'm still looking for 2200BG drivers, but the sound works perfectly after installing the SigMatel drivers from the 10.4.8 JaS DVD. (Edit: I've got the wireless working now, but I can't connect to any networks, I can only see them. Any advice?)

Mobile Pentium 4 2.6GHz, ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 32MB, Atheros 5002G mPCI, Dell Bluetooth 350. 10.4.6 Myz + JaS 10.4.7 update. To get full 1680x1050x32 resolution use callisto 003. Anything above that gave me major video issues. Currently triple-booting XP, OSX86, and Fedora Core 5. Installed in that order using Grub as a boot loader. Everything works perfectly.

My dvd drive is recognized as a burner in the system properties, but I haven't confirmed it with toast yet.
Issues: Sleep doesn't work yet, still fighting with it. The SD card slot doesn't do anything when a card is inserted.
Dell Inspiron E1405
-Intel Core Duo 1.66Ghz
-Intel GMA950 @ 1440x900
-Dell Wireless B/G Card
-Everything works except HD Audio out of the box
-Exception: Intel ipw3945 will NOT work - drivers aren't really in sight -- any osx-supported expresscard wifi cards?
-Stuttering animations (and apparently boot problems) can be solved by disabling a core:
- this can be done through the bios by disabling multicore or (preferrably) by setting the kernel flag "cpus=1" or "idlehalt=0" - See Tips_And_Tricks#Messing_with_the_boot_options and look for "cpus=0"
Installed with JaS Patched 10.4.6

Finally found a way that works (without deleting kexts to boot)...
Installed with "Mac OS X 10.4.6 x86 Install DVD (JaS)" from TPB - file name was "10.4.6.install.dvd.iso" and it has an md5sum of "5c88e09705ebde2baf1bf19832bdd37a". It has a file size of "4.38 GiB (4698669056 Bytes)".
You need to go into the bios BEFORE you install and disable "Video expansion" on the 4th page. Do normal install and set partition to active if needed (I didn't have too). Do NOT install SSE3 - but do install 10.4.6 upgrade. Boot once into Mac normally before re-enabling the "Video Expansion" in the bios. On my D505 with this image, firewire, sound and bluetooth is working by default. Wifi and battery must be added...
Get working wifi drivers here: http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/ (and donate something to this guy for being cool enough to write these drivers;)
Get the battery going here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=14912
Cheers and good luck!
Intel Centrino M 1.4 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Sigmatel Audio 9750
Installed with the :Mac OS X 10.4.6 x86 DVD (JaS)" Went into the BIOS and disabled the Video Expansion and then re-enabled after install. Wireless: Working Audio: Not Working B0 error upon startup, working on solution currently
Installed with 10.4.4 Myzar ISO, updated to 10.4.6 using Myzar updater. Again, problems with IOFireWire kexts so needed boot via USB on another machine to remove. Everything works as per 10.4.5: No CI or QE, no wireless. Sound.
Fresh install using 10.4.6 JaS ISO. Install fine, needs IOFireWire* kexts removing - boot again from install DVD, choose Utilities, Terminal. cd to /Volumes/DISKNAME/System/Library/Extensions.
With this installer it seems as though the PCCard bus has been broken. Using Pacifist to reinstall IOPCIFamily from Essentials.pkg fixes the card slot.
Netgear WG511T is no longer detected OOB. Need to use IO8011*Networking.kext from 10.4.5, then chmod -R 755 and chown -R root:wheel. *Must be done*, repairing disk permissions isn't enough. . . . . . . .
Dell Latitude D600
Intel Pentium M Processor 745 (1.80 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache), ATI Mobility RADEON 9000 graphics engine with 32MB of DDR memory, AC97 (Soft Audio) / ICH3, 768Mb memory
- Installed JaS 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso. Sound, video, keyboard, mouse, and USB all working. * Built-in LAN works if you follow the directions at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=8162.
- Wireless will work by following the instructions at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=8522. The driver (IO80211Family.kext) is already included in the distribution, so it was a simple process of editing files per the instructions.
ATI support for 1280x1024x32 can be had by editing /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and adding the following two lines:
<key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280×1024×32</string>
You can edit this file using sudo and vi without having to then repair permissions.
A higher resolution of 1400x1050 can be had by changing the line in com.apple.Boot.plist to "1400x1050x32", deleting all ATI directories in /System/Library/Extensions, and deleting the files Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache in /System/Library. Finally, run
$ sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions/
Battery meter works by following the instructions at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=14912
Intel Pentium M Processor (1.40 GHz, NO PAE), ATI Mobility RADEON 9000 graphics engine with 32MB of DDR memory, AC97 (Soft Audio) / ICH3, 768Mb memory
Installed JaS 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso. Works. Although no PAE is available. Wireless (Intel PRO 2100) does not work.
Same configuration as above but True Mobile 1400 Wireless. True Mobile 1400 works as AirPort; Changing Display-resolution to 1400x1050 works if ATI*.kexts are removed from /System/Libraries/Extensions.
Installed HotISO 10.4.6 install dvd. Selected Intel Combo Update, SSE2, wireless support, mobility radeon. Don't select audio piece. Sounds works without it and when I did select it, I got errors. Got nic and wireless Dell true mobile working successfully. changed display, but no acceleration on video. can't launch dvd player or install imovie, or idvd. . . .
Dell Latitude D610
So far I have everything working but Infrared, modem, battery indicator and ethernet. Wireless works with some patching. Still trying to patch ethernet.
- Make space for OS X (Partition Magic, Acronis, etc...)
- Boot off of OS X DVD (plug in a monitor or dongle or you'll get stuck on blue screen, also make sure you have a DVD drive. Mine didn't at first.)
- Install OS X with the following "Customize" patches
- 1.4.6 Combo update
- Radeon Mobility
- Ethernet (Broadcom 5751) can be enabled using this patch but Mac address will be all 0's and this driver causes machine to crash when sleeping.
- Wireless (Broadcom 4319) can be enabled using this method. Just edit /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist, the other patch is not necesary.
- Battery icon can be enabled using this patch but it doesn't appear to update after booting.
Note: Plug in external monitor or dongle when booting or you'll get stuck on the blue screen.
Also Note: You can get back to windows using the Darwing boot loader. Press F8 after the bios screen.
Dell Latitude D810 & D800
Out of the box: Audio, video at 1600x1200 (minor aspect ratio mismatch), keyboard, trackpad, trackpoint. Not working: onboard ethernet (after binary edits, still can't set macaddr via ifconfig. Hangs the machine.), wireless (Intel BG2200 story), sleep.
Dell D800 with Jas 10.4.6 same as above but I got sound working out of the box as well. Battery indicator can be found here (works on many laptops): http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=14912
Also got onboard nic working by using the notes here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=8162&pid=73971&mode=threaded&show=&st=0&#entry73971
And full 1680x1050x32 video support from macvidia driver here: http://macvidia.starchaser.org/
There is also a cool widgit there that will show you your current driver on your system and the driver that is currently availble on-line: http://macvidia.starchaser.org/boards/macvidia-driver/218-macvidia-widget.html
Dell Latitude D620
Intel Pentium Centrino Duo - (2 ghz), Nvidia Quadro GFX (have not tried patching, but built in res works natively on laptop), Bluetooth (found during regular install), On board ethernet / Intel Wifi both not working. Dell Wireless wifi (Broadcom) works but must follow 2nd part of instructions instructions for Dell Latitude D600 (see above). Also, found that hitting F8 when booting and hitting enter once seems to allow boot. Otherwise it fails sometimes. If you shutoff one core in the bios it will work. Then you can edit the boot file to have only one core boot after which you can reenable both cores in the bios. Looks great though! As of 8/4/2006, audio (Sigmatel) does not work but driver is being written (check forum).
No problems installing straight from HotISO disk or Jas disk (10.4.6).
... note from another person: I had an intel wifi card on my d620 w/ nvidia card... intel of course isnt working.
D620s ship with Intel for WiFi and Broadcom for wired ethernet. I have not tried it but I would think the tweaks for getting ethernet to work on the Dell Optiplex GX620 would also work on the D620. I believe the chipset is the same.
12/26/06 Dell 620 with Dell branded broadcom wireless works out of the box with HotISO!
Dell Latitude D820
Tried with OS X 10.4.6 (HotISO image), with SSE3 and update. Attention, if you select other extra packages (like wireless), the computer may stay idle after the boot. Also, it seems to be a problem with the dual-core, as mentioned for the previous description, you have to press F8 when booting, and simply press Enter. Otherwise, you might be experiencing numerous "you have to reboot your computer" when booting.
Intel Centrino Duo T2300 (1,66 GHz), Intel GMA 950 (native resolution, but poor or inexistant acceleration on Aqua), Bluetooth (working after install). Wi-Fi & built-in Gigabit Ethernet NIC won't work. Sound doesn't work too.
Haven't tried yet some patches, need some investigations ;)
It is running on my Dell D820, found some more bugs: - the time isn't correct (always two houres behind) if you adjust it, it will but the time wrong in XP. There is no @ key :(and it seems to work better in single core ? If someone finds a way to change the sound problem, please post it... This is a major bug for me. I need sound !
Does work: - MacVidia1.0.8.pkg.zip works great ! Screen resolution: 1920 - 1200. The CD / DVDr works fine.
OSX 10.6.4. - with myHack 1.0 RC4.1 - works fine! Additional kexts: 1. AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext 2. Mercurysquad - Project Camphor VoodooIntel3945-06.beta (This nice guy stops the development a years ago... suck...
Dell Precision M60
Intel Pentium M (1.7GHz), Nvidia Quadro GFX (MacVidia driver stuff gives resolutions), ACPI patch for battery, using a patched driver for Networking and WLAN (YES, IT WORKS like a charm !!! ;) Everything else worked out of the box. even Volume buttons.
So the only thing not wokring is CI and QE and LDC switchoff / sleep / standby.
Dell XPS m1210
XPS M1210, 80gb SATA HDD, T2300 Duo, Intel wireless, webcam, GMA950.
Installed JaS 10.4.6 and 10.4.7.
Boots, no external monitor needed. QE & CI enabled. Only one core.
Battery indicator (percent and time) with PowerManagement.bundle patch. GMA 950 (8086, 27A2), DVD burner, Intel SATA, 1280x800 res, external monitors, broadcom 440x 10/100 all OK.
Two-finger scrolling works well with FFScrollPS2-0.1.RC1 patch, but I had to edit the trackpad sensitivity down to 0 in ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist (under com.apple.trackpad.scaling), I still haven't found a perfect value--scrolling works great but actual tracking is still a tad jumpy (i.e. hold your finger still the mouse cursor jitters like its had too much coffee); I'll update here if I find a good solution.
Hardware not working: Intel 3945 (I replaced with a $15 Dell 1390, 100% compatible), Sigmatel 9220 (audio through Headphone jack #1 only, internal speakers non functional), Ricoh card reader.
Webcam not recognized, tried a few OS X USB webcam drivers but nothing yet. Windows recognizes as a standard Logitech USB webcam, so there might be hope for this; not a priority for me.
Dell XPS m140
Intel Pentium M Processor 745 (1.86 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache) CI and QE work with an external monitor connected. USB Bluetooth work fine. Still no Audio (Has HD Audio in the XP land) and wifi.
Installed JaS 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso
Dell XPS m140 (aka Inspiron 630m)
Boot only when an external monitor is connected (with CI and QE). I've replaced my wifi miniPCI card with a dell truemobile 1450 and wifi works now (without any hack). Sigmatel audio is recognized (i've the sound icon in the top left border) but no sound at all... USB, ethernet , firewire, keyboard, touchpad and multimedia keys works fine. The memory card reader doesn't works. The works.
I've obtained Power saving and battery level with a hack

As you can see, all in all a pretty well supported laptop. As for the video, I doubt a driver will ever come along as even ATI's drivers for Linux for this card are horrible.
JaS 10.4.6 DVD would not boot. Installed via VmWare in windows. Had to disable legacy USB otherwise very slow disk IO (conflict?). While trying to figure out slow IO - I installed a new kext for AppleOnboardPCATA.kext. I followed these directions.

When trying to boot with my Jas 10.4.6 Install DVD, for some reason the computer wanted to do a network install. I installed with VMWare to my second partition, it worked great after that, and now I dual boot using Acronis. - Intel Pentium M 2.0 GHz SSE2, 1 GB Ram, 100 GB HD
- Installed with JaS 10.4.6 Install. Deleted 4 "GMA950" kexts and repaired disk permissions to get FULL QE/CI ENABLED, also used staples to bridge pins 1-6 & 2-12.
- Intel/PRO Wireless 2200b/g Mini PCI still not functioning.
- Ethernet port functions just fine
- Bluetooth works great
- Volume keys on QuickPlay bar work great
- Everything works great except screen (works after patching) and Card Reader and Wireless (with Intel 2200b/g)
How to solve the screen resolution problem on dv1440 US
This tips may apply to you if your laptop monitor is not working and you have to rely on an external monitor.
I found that the OS X does something abnormal on the screen resolution when you try to output the image to the external monitor, i.e., pressing the "Fn" + the special key. I mainly experience this problem in two places: The first time setup and the first login to the system.
The installation works great until it hits the first time setup. The resolution looks weired on both laptop screen and external monitor. The bottom part of the screen seems being chopped and can't be displayed at all. To solve this problem, I enable the text-to-speech by pressing the apple key+F5(I do this by using an Apple USB keyboard). Note that you can't use the mouse here because the cursor you see on the screen and the actual cursor position are out of sync. Then I can tab into different field to hear and select the option. After the first time setup, the resolution will become normal again.
After you login to the OS X, you can only see a blank screen on your monitor because all of the main activities are displayed on the laptop monitor. You will need to go to the System preference --> Display --> Arrangement to enable the "Mirror Display" option. Again, you need to output the "main screen VGA signal" to the external display by using the "Fn" key. Then I enable the text-to-speech option by pressing the apple key + F5 button. At this point, you can use the keyboard to jump from the main partition to the applications --> system preference --> Display --> Arrangement and enable the Mirror Display option. After that, you can select the correct resolution and the resolution will work fine.

Now Have Full QE/CI support...and 1280x768 support with Intel GMA 900. Intel/Pro Wireless 2200b/g Not working got a Belkin USB b/g F5D7050v2 with this Ralink 11g-RT2500 Driver. Ethernet functions fine without hack. Audio works, Volume Keys work and so does mute, DVD Burner works, USB Works, Firewire works. CPU runs kinda hot so I installed cputhrottle and it works great and prevents fan from spinning so hard. Haven't tested modem, pcmcia or card reader. No battery support, until I installed Powermanagement Bundle and now I at least get a battery percentage but it won't show time remaining. PCMCIA and Firewire works with this hack. Also updated to 10.4.7 with Jas' update and it works great! . . . . .

Since the install, the computer is working as listed above minus the network card which i added a value and restarted to get to work.

Intel Centrino M 2.0Ghz, 1 Gb RAM, 80GB HD etc Installed from myZAR DVD 10.4.6 - hit the blank blue screen on DVD boot, this was solved by plugging in a second monitor to complete installation and then using the paper-clip trick in the VGA port to allow the internal display to work. Works well but don't play round with the monitor options in Sys Prefs else you lose the screen image after restarts. Wireless card doesn't work.
HP Pavilion dv4000
dv4030us Pentium M (centrino) 1.6 Ghz SSE2 PAE 512MB RAM 80GB HD
Native install (dual with WinXP) using 10.4.6 JaS patched disk. Install of OSx86 froze (or so I thought) at blank blue screen. Installed using external monitor. Now run using VGA dongle (1-12 2-6 pin bridge) and at full resolution.
Kayboard, touchpad, USB, Sound (including onboard volume and mute controls) work fine. CD/DVD reader works, assuming writer will work (shows in system profiler, haven't tested).
Trackpad does not work (yet?). Appears cardbus and pcmcia readers do NOT work. Patched using IOPCCardFamily.kext but haven't been able to test yet. Haven't tried built-in 5-in-1 cardreader.
Battery indicator did not work "out of the box" but repaired with PowerManagement.bundle from the forums.
Upgrading to 10.4.7 soon.

--Working In OSX--
(All installed on its own, unless otherwise noted)
- By connecting the 6 and 12 pins on the external VGA
- Note: Make sure that your wire makes good contact. This should allow you to boot successfully to OSX without an external monitor EVERYTIME!!
- Also has native resolution (1280x800)
- By connecting the 6 and 12 pins on the external VGA
- Graphics (Quartz Extreme [QE] and CoreImage [CI])
- Fixed by downloading special .kext files (I can't find the website where I got these, if I can find it again, I will update)
- Note: If you mess up something when you edit your .kext files and you get the funky colors when you try to boot OSX, don't panic! Simply boot OSX in safe mode (press F8 to get to advanced start up options, then type "-x"), and you should be able to see your desktop. Now you can replace the modified .kext files with the original (You did keep the originals right? Always, always make backups, NEVER replace system files!)
- Quickplay Volume Control
- Working with Powerbundle fix
- Note: I've uninstalled the Powerbundle fix, because it caused my OSX DVD Player to not work. Im not sure why. If you would like to try this yourself, be sure to make a backup of the original Powerbundle files to revert back to if you choose

--Other Helpful Hints--
- Whenever you update or edit your system files, be sure to remember to repair your privileges. This will also improve your overall system performance, even after a fresh install.
- This can be done through Disk Utility; there is an option to repair privileges. After clicking, wait for it to finish, and then restart.
- Always, always make a backup of all your system files before you update or edit them.
- To keep mine straight, I make a new folder for them and add "original" or "mod" in the file name.

Boots fine off DVD and everything and boots fine natively. The following is from just booting without making any manual changes to kext loading.
Working: USB, FireWire, Ethernet (Realtek RTL1839) Half-working: ATI video card, only allows 1024x768 on default driver (failed to work with Callisto driver) Not working: Wireless ethernet, sound (AC'97 codec, easily changed to working (this is assumed)), modem, PCMCIA slot does nothing when a card is inserted, remote control :P
I assume due to other Pavilions that the MMC/SD card reader doesn't work either however I do not have anything to test this with. I also cannot test the PC card slot (no card to test with, I'll assume it doesn't work).

Sound working after updating the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext with the vendor id/dev ID. (ID: 0x504714F1) I also had to remove the HDA kext for this to work.
For the network card, I edited the IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleIntel8225x.kext and added the dev id. (ID: 0x10928086)
Was able to use the USB ports after I followed the directions and downloaded the Generic EHCI USB kext from this thread.
Firewire is working and capture from a firewire DV cam has been tested.
AMD = Installed from Myz Image for AMD. Works almost fine, all thats not working is the Graphics Card, the Sound Card, Wifi. But there may be fixes.

- Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz: Installer would crash at random places and system wouldn't boot at all without specifying cpus=1 on command line.
- ATI X1600 (PCI-E): Appeared to work straight away with QE and CI, however couldn't get it to work at 1680x1050. Closest I managed was a stretched 1400x1050. No display at all with Borisbadenovs Method driver.
- Integrated Bluetooth: recognised straight away, couldn't test though.
- SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio (ADI1981HD High Definition CODEC): Didn't work at all
- Integrated Gigabit Ethernet (Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5753M PCI-E): No joy. Tried BCM57xx driver but didn't work. Showed up in System Profiler and was grayed out in network settings, but couldn't enable it.
- Integrated 802.11a/b/g Wifi (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG): No luck.
- SATA hard drive: worked perfectly. Booted through Grub installed from windows. Added timeout option to bootoptions prefs file to add small timedelay to let me specify additional options like single user mode.
System boots pretty fast, but with no wireless or ethernet and a stretched screen isn't terribly useful!
HP Compaq nw8200
Work very usable with these issues:
- Intel Pentium M - Works perfectly with 10.4.6 Jas DVD (choice SSE2 packet at installation).
- ATI X700 (PCI-E): Unfortunately this is not the best working part. You will have to replace 10.4.6 ATIRadeion*.kext files with those from 10.4.5 and then use the koverg patch to support devid 5653. Also you will need to replace OpenGL and Quartz*.frameworks with those from 10.4.5. This will get you hardware accelaration. Screen resulution change works with the omni callisto drivers but after change mode the screen gets jumpy (very strange for lcd monitor). so the resolution to get more than standard vga 1024x768 is adding:
<key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</key> in your com.apple.Boot.plist file.
- Integrated Audio AC97 codec: works with the JAS installation but after installation you will probably get message that AC97 drivers are with wrong permissions. Use Application->Utilities->Disk Utility -> Repair permission to fix.
- Integrated Gigabit Ethernet (Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5753M PCI-E): There is drivers already but doesn't support device with id 167d. you will need to patch the driver - search with keyword 167d in the forums for solution.
- Integrated 802.11a/b/g Wifi (Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG): the is iwi2200 driver with work in progress but doesn't work currently.
- booting laptop on battery - involves mac os x to be terribly slow. - it is possible using grub to how dual (or even more) system machine. setup mac os x in grub as example shows for windows.

IBM T41p 2373
Pentium M 1.7ghz. Everything working from scratch, except: Graphics: ATi FireGL T2. It works, but not with the ATI drivers. Delete all starting with ATI from /System/Library/Extentions Wireless: a/b/c works if you download and use IO80211family.kext from 10.4.5 and copy it over the 10.4.6 one in /System/Library/Extentions. Also you need to change "en0" to "en1", and "0" to "1" in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
Addon from other user:
Everything works under 10.4.6. -To get wireless you need to copy over the 10.4.5 io80211.kext from the combo updater and using pacifist. Also change the networkinterface.plist from en0 to en1 and the 0 to 1. -Natively, QE and CI work, however, you are not in 1400x1050 res. You can change to 1400x1050 two different ways. First way is to just do the Graphics Mode trip, and change it to 1400x1050x32. You can also do the Callisto B003 hack, and get display selections within the OS. However, doing this disables QE and CI. Follow step 11 of the callisto FAQ in the downloaded folder. -You do the battery hack to get the battery display back. - Turn on.off bluetooth with fn+f5 Notes: Using QE and CI, you get a LOT of mouse tearing. Personally, i am not watching very many movies compared to how much screen tearing i am willing to deal with, so i used the callisto hack but opted out of turning back on QE and CI. If I need QE or CI, i just turn it on, although it does take a reboot. Not positive that the callisto hack unlocks widescreen b/c i havn't hooked it up to my monitor yet, but i have no reason to believe it wouldnt based on others experiances.

A lots of combination of BIOS (before and after updating to 79ETC1WW (2.01)) and extension files just gave me a black screen with or without some color pixels on the top of the screen.
- Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG IEEE802.11a/b/g : not works as you know why (lack of the driver).
Finally, I turn to the 10.4.7 JAS DVD and QE/CI works. Thank you guys. (details here http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.7/Portables#IBM_Thinkpad_T60p_2007-93J)

- Sound: follow instructions at http://forum.osx86project.org/lofiversion/index.php/t18642.html
IBM Thinkpad Z60T
Pentium M 1.86 Ghz (750)
Audio - works
Wifi - works (en0 --> en1)
Network - works (pci id patched kext)
Video - works (QE\CI, full resolutions support), but need external monitor or dongle to boot.
Boot normally in GUI, and format the Hard Drive as Mac OS X (Jounaled) Then, install, and activate the partition with Hiren's Boot CD, when the PC gives a boot error.
What doesn't work:
- Build-In audio, maybe you can try the Intel HDA audio patch. - Build-In ethernet, if I find a patch, I will post it here.
- Wireless internet works, install this driver:
- Video Card works out-of-the-box - USB works
What works a little bit:
- DVD-RAM drive can read cd's and dvd's, but can't write dvd's or cd's.
What was not tested:
- Modem connection - Ethernet & Sound - Card Reader
MSI S260 (MS-1012)
Dual Boot Installation Windows XP + OS X. 2 partitions, 1st partition WinXP Pro SP/2, 2nd OS X. Second parition active, system boots Darwin loader by default (F8 to select OS). Installed using JAS Patched 10.4.6 ISO, then updated to 10.4.7 with JAS updater.
Pentium M 740 (1.73 Ghz w/2MB cache), 512MB DDR, 12.1" WXGA (1280x800) TFT.
Audio - AC97 ICH6 + Realtek AL655 works (see below).
10/100 Ethernet - Realtek RTL8139 works by default.
Video - GMA900 (QE\CI, full resolutions support w/patched drivers), requires 2 wire hack on external VGA port.
HL-DT-ST GCA4080N DVDRW - works and disc burning is supported by default.
IEEE1394 FireWire (400) - works.
USB 2.0 - works by default.
802.11 Wifi - Intel 2915ABG not working. Will replace with generic Atheros card or MSI RT2560 (RaLink).
ADDENDUM: Installed the MSI RaLink miniPCI card, and used the drivers OS X 10.4 drivers from Ralink's website. Works great, although the wireless doesn't turn on until the Wireless utility launches. For some reason, the utility takes a long time to start, but once it does, it works fine.
Modem - Agere AC97 not working.
SD/MS Media reader - not working.
Built-in keyboard shortcut buttons (Find, Mail, Web) non-functional.
PCMCIA/Cardbus slot not tested.
1. The optional Sigmatel 9220 and USB SoundBlaster drivers were interfering with the Intel ICH6 AC97. When installing, do not choose any of the AMD patches, optional Audio drivers or ATI Radeon Mobility drivers.
2. The GMA900 drivers included on the disc do not support QE/CI. Use the modified drivers found here to get QE/CI:
3. Use a dongle, external monitor or the 2 wire trick to force the system to recognize the buolt-in LCD. without it, the installation (or actual boot up) will freeze at the blue scrteen, immediately after the gray logo screen with the spinning tick marks. MOre info here:

HOTiSO 10.4.6 DVD Installation Details:
-Make sure to install AMD & Intel patches
-After installation, must reboot in safe mode (-x) and move AudioHDA.kext and AppleIntelGMA950* (all files starting with AppleIntelGMA950) out of the /System/Library/Extensions folder.
-Also, to fix audio, follow the procedure described here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=5064
-To fix battery meter, see here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=14912
-For wireless, you must buy part# WLL4080PCIX (atheros AR5006EX) by emailing [email protected] They will sell you the card for $65. Do not use the Intel 3945abg, as it is NOT compatible with OS X. Alternatively, use a USB-based 802.11g adapter. See: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.5#Wireless_Network_Cards Also, you can't use the drivers that come with 10.4.6. You have to replace IO80211Family.kext with the version from 10.4.5 (in /System/Library/Extensions).
-If your card is not detected as an AirPort card, see here to fix: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=13522&st=20&gopid=117938&#entry117938
Actually the original wireless card in some of s262 is produced by ralinktech and the driver is available from:
JaS 10.4.6 Installion Details:
-Boots fine after install with correct resolution
-Only installed the Combo Update patch and the intel SSE2 & 3 patches
-Everything under 'working' was fine by defualt except audio, network and battery metter
-Audio is fixed with this: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=18642
-Battery Metter (see above)
-Network is fixed using this KEXT: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=29436
The only problem is DHCP (you'll have to type IP/etc manually) and speed. Stability is great.
Panasonic Let's note CF-W5
Core Solo 1.06GHz Tested with 10.4.5 Myz + 10.4.6 Patch
Everything works fine except Sound(SigmaTel 9200) and WLAN(Intel 3945ABG Mini PCIe).
Samsung X20 V
Installed from JaS 10.4.6 Intel Pentium M 1.73GHz, 1024MB RAM, 80GB EIDE, Intel GMA 900 graphics LAN working, WLAN not working
Sony Vaio VGN FJ170
Installed from JaS 10.4.6
Intel 740 processor, 1024MB Ram, 100GB SATA harddrive, Intel GMA 900 graphics
Recommended: before installing, if not dual booting, boot into XP and choose an acceptable screen brightness, as it cannot be changed under OS X.
- During Install
Apply SSE2 Patch and GMA900 Patch
- Post Install
If you encounter trouble booting, try deleting IOUSBFamily.kext by booting with the DVD in the drive and doing the following (please note that this will render USB inoperable):
Utilities > Terminal
cd /Volumes/<your volume label>/system/library/extensions
rm -rf IOUSBFamily.kext
Remove DVD and reboot
- Not working: USB (support removed to boot); PCMCIA; sound; keyboard hotkeys (no surpise); wireless (part of the centrino branding, again, no surprise); power management (fan, baby! better download insomniaX - bastard will get hot and go into sleep mode); memory stick reader; webcamera.
caveats: touchpad support is kind of wonky - doesn't support tapping or dragging windows and jumps around a bit if you keep your finger on it.
These issues aside, works with wired ethernet and third-party power management kernel extensions just fine.
Waiting on broadcom adaptor to test wireless. (Update: broadcom 1300 series adaptor works perfectly with wireless patch added on install)
Sony Vaio FS660/W
Installed from JaS 10.4.6 Added Intel 003 Sec update
Sound (Realtek HD, vendor 10EC, device 0260) worked on install, video & 1280x800 w/ MacVidia drivers. Traded Intel for Broadcom wireless, detected as airport extreme.
ALPS Trackpad 2-finger scrolling (with driver, see forums) works extremely well.
Not working: keyboard hotkeys, probably never will--sony's proprietary s/w controls those. This also means display is stuck at max brightness. Memory stick reader doesn't work, PCMCIA slot (104C, AC8E) is probably fixable but I don't use so not looked into.
Relatively smooth install; no QE & CI yet but pretty compatible considering its a Vaio.
Battery life is pretty low--around 1.25 hrs with display stuck at max.
I have this notebook and wireless dont work. Trackpad works well. usb work. sound work. cpu xbench 60 aprox. jas 10.4.7.
Sony VAIO VGN A290
Centrino (1.8 GHz Pentium M, 1.5gb, 100GB, DVD+-RW, Radeon 9700 Mobility, 17" Widescreen LCD (1920x1200))
DONT install the mobility driver from JAS 10.4.6 I just got a black screen.
What works: mouse, usb, ethernet,
I am able to get my full 1920x1200 resultion with the callisto 003 fixed build of the driver, and then modding the ATI9700GA.plugin package as stated in the faq section of the callisto driver, to get full QE and CI support. The key for me getting the driver to work was getting the 128bit hex code for the display, I'll psot it here to save anyone the trouble. ***ONLY FOR THE 17" VGN Screens

I used the ACPICPUThrottle kext to get some speed step action going.
DVD burning works Firewire, works Powermanagement.bundle works well also for the battery icon.
to get wifi working I replaced the mini-PCI card with one from a dell (truemobile dw1350) I then had to use a modified OI80211family.kext
I installed from the JAS 10.4.6 disk.
Sony Vaio TR1a
Centrino (900MHz Pentium M, 1024MB, 30GB, DVD/CDRW, 10.6" TFT)
Installed from JaS 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso
Performed install with external USB keyboard and mouse. Then set up onboard keyboard by adding these two lines at the end of the file "/etc/rc", just before "exit 0":
kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents /PlugIns/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext kextload /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents /PlugIns/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext
Works: USB, keyboard, networking, optical drive, 1024x768 res, USB mouse, power management icon
Does not work: sound, wlan, trackpad, 1280x768 res
Not tested: modem, camera, memory stick slot
The power management was enabled by downloading: http://www.nedprod.com/Niall_stuff/MacOS%20X/PowerManagement.tar.gz
Unpack it, giving you a PowerManagement.bundle. Open /System/Library/SystemConfiguration. Delete the existing one first, then copy in the new one. After rebooting, MacOS X should recognise the laptop and display a battery indicator in the top menu bar. Thanks to keithpk for this improved PowerManagement.bundle. This package came from the excellent 10.4.6 guide at: http://www.nedprod.com/Niall_stuff/MacOS%20X/index.html
This laptop has a native 1280x768 resolution that is not implemented in the BIOS (how nuts is that?) It can be made to work at 1280x768 in Linux with an on-the-fly startup BIOS patch, which possibly could be ported if one knew the details (and of course in Windows with the obligatory proprietary driver...). So it happily ignores any possible suggestion obtained from a thorough forum search here.
Sound is detected as AC97, comes up in the Audio & Midi tools, Volume slider works, but...no sound. Trackpad .kext loads fine, but the trackpad does not respond. In both cases the proper PNPIDs were added to the appropriate .kexts to no avail. I will try a supported USB WLAN adapter in the 2nd USB port. More to follow...
Sony VAIO S360
Centrino (1.7 GHz Pentium M, 512MB, 80GB, DVD-CDRW, Radeon 9700 Mobility, 13.3" Widescreen LCD (1280x800))
Used the JAS 10.4.6 install CD with the SSE2 options (the mobility drivers on the disc cause video problems). Installation required a USB keyboard and mouse, and the /etc/rc file had to be modified to permit the use of the notebook keyboard.
The ALPS Trackpad and keyboard works when the OSX installation is made the active partition in the Acronis Suite's boot loader. Unfortunately that causes problems with the Windows XP partition. To allow the dual boot + trackpad use I had to enter the Windows XP recovery console and use the "bootcfg /rebuild" command. Now using Acronis, dual booting with a working trackpad including sleep on the windows side works!
Callisto .005 HAS been successfully installed, and QE/CI can be enabled. Finally, widescreen (its beautiful)!!
Power management also works (follow the link from the above-mentioned Sony notebook).
Wireless is not working yet with the Intel 2200 B/G, but hope remains for the Aroman project! Wireless DOES work when using the Dell Truemobile 1350 (it will fit snugly in the s360 mini-PCI slot) with the modified IO80211Family.kext.
Sony VAIO VGN FE550

Widescreen works and external vga detects displays (editing on a 1440x900 right now). QE/CI works. Ethernet: Go into IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleIntel8255x.kext/Contents/ and add 0x10928086 to the Info.plist. Memsticks works with add in card that came with computer. No Sound (Sigmatel). No Wireless (3945ABG).

Sony VAIO VGN S2XP
Centrino (1.8 GHz Pentium M, 512MB, 80GB, DVD+-RW, Radeon 9700 Mobility, 13.3" Widescreen LCD (1280x800))
First of all DONT install the mobility driver from JAS 10.4.6 - you wont be able to see anything.
Works out of the Box: LAN, Bluetooth, ATI Grafics Works: Keyboard (see above), Resolution 1280x800 (with callisto 003 fixed), Power Management (see above)
DONT WORK: ALPS Touchpad (it's impossible! the arconis thing works only for 10 secs and only if it's not combined with the Keyboard kext reload), Sound (Intel ICH4 - 8086 24c5) (Speakers and output seems to be on Channel 1+2, OSX only detects Channel 3+4) Wifi (BG2200 AND Ralink 2500 MiniPCI Card), Modem, Memory Stick, PCMCIA Slot

MAKE SURE IT'S SWITCHED TO STAMINA MODE BEFORE INSTALLING OR RUNNING MAC OS. Stamina mode enables the intel card to boot, and you get resolution at 1280x800 instead of useing the unsupported nvidia card that remains at 1024x768 When booting at speed mode switched..
Touchpad(moving and clicking-NO TAPPING), Bluetooth working out of box, Power Icon works with power management patch. Sd Card reader works. Cd rom works. Havent burned anything yet. Quartz Extreme works great with intel side of computer.
Not working: wireless, no PCMCIA power:( ), SigamaTel audio(not attempted). Networking not yet attempted.

Toshiba Satellite A100 Series
Intel Centrino Duo 2.0 Ghz (SSE3), 1GB 667MHz, ATI X1300, Bluetooth, WiFi
Trouble-free install with 10.4.6, upgraded to 10.4.7
Bluetooth (Iffy, it worked and then stopped and I haven't gotten it back)
10.4.6 runs fine
No Radeon Mobility X1600 support (PCEe)
No installation on external USB drive
Toshiba Satellite Pro L100
Intel Centrino T2300E, 512MB, Intel 945GM Express, Wifi
Installed fine from Goatsecx using GMA900 support.
Only things not working are Wifi (Intel 3945ABG) and Sound (Intel/Conexant Hi-Def). Wired network (Realtek RTL8139) works fine. Have not tried battery meter, pcmcia or modem.
Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041
Core Solo T1350, 512MB, Intel 955, GMA950 - Widescreen 14.1
Installed fine. Started in native WS resolution, ran quickly. I was surprised after reading about graphic problems people had.. Wifi, Ethernet and sound do not work but that's about it, everything else works great. Didn't need VGA monitor.
Hibernates when I close the laptop. Touchpad 'double tap' and other features don't work initially, but after closing the laptop and resuming from hibernation the touchpad works fine. Stable, battery meter worked with hacks. Tried a few things for Wifi and it was a no go. I'm sure I can get ethernet and sound working if I tried.
Toshiba Satellite M40X-141
Celeron M370 1.5Ghz (SSE2, XD), 512MB, Intel 915 chipset, Intel GMA900 graphics
Everything works perfectly out of the box except display: sound, network, wifi... You HAVE TO boot with a VGA monitor connected, or it won't work. I'm NOT ANYMORE working on that (i managed to have it work perfectly under 10.4.3, but i didn't manage to do it with 10.4.5 or later). Installed hacked battery monitor and touchpad driver. CPU seems to run at full speed all the time, fans are running at half or full speed all the time, annoying.
Toshiba Satellite M45-s265
10.4.6 Jas Install with GMA900 support+SSE2 Pentium M730 1.6Ghz (SSE2), 512MB, Intel 915 chipset, Intel GMA900 graphics
Works under VMware(going to try native install) 1024x768 Audio patchy works slowly. Not worth my time to install any programs native install doesnt't work for universal-10.4.5 , JaS-10.4.6, and deadmoo image; if trying to boot it from dvd the following system file can not found -if I remember correctly- system.boot.plist If I try use vmware to install a vm with hard disk access and try to boot it natively, boot hangs when probing hardware just after a line about ICH6-M SATA

Toshiba Tecra A3
10.4.6 Jas Install with GMA900 support+SSE2 Pentium M 1.73Ghz (SSE2), 1024MB, Intel 915 chipset, Intel GMA900 graphics
Installer DVD will boot with parameters: -v -x platform=ACPI|X86PC But only when network cable is unplugged, and only if there is an unformatted partition created for OSX. Assuming the above conditions are met, a full, normal install is possible, but the resulting OS will not boot. If installed on first (or only) partition, then the result is a blinking cursor and no boot. If installed on second (or later) partition, then the result is "HFS+ partition error" and no boot. tried pretty exhaustively to get this going, and could not make it work.
