|
- BIOS version: 14
- Installation method: Leo4all v2 (10.5.2) with Vanilla Kernel 9.2.2
- Audio (ALC 883): 2ch only so far. Works with Azalia patch from skippyretard. Tried the 883 kexts from Leo4all v2 install, latest Taruga's 5.1 kext (April 24th, 2008) and skippyretard's 883 pkg with no luck. Linux reconizes ALC883 OK. Maybe the guy up here with an ALC888 has a different mobo revision.
- Video (GMA 950): Works with GMA950 driver from the Leo4all install DVD. QE/CI enabled and no artifacts. Resolution fixed at 1024x768, I changed it editing com.apple.Boot.plist adding <string>"Graphics Mode"="[email protected]"</string>. There is some minor mouse blinking when moving over the dock, hardly noticeable.

- Optical Drive: LG Sata DVD-RW/RAM drive no problems
- Shutdown works, restart doesn't, Unsure about sleep.
- There is no support currently for the x1250 integrated graphics.

- Install Method: Zephyroth 10.5.2
- BIOS Version: 1604; Revision: Beta
- Audio: Realtek ALC850 (Selected AC'97 from Customize list)
- LAN: nForce4 built-in Gbit MAC (Selected forcedeth from Customize list)
- SATA & IDE: Installed OS onto IDE drive without problems. Also have two SATA drives in Striped RAID configured through MediaShield ROM, but the RAID showed up as two individual drives in Mac's Disk Utility during installation. Cannot access RAID even after installation.
- Optical Drive: BenQ DW1625. During the 15 odd times I booted from the DVD to install, after the first 6 or 7 times, the installer started saying that it could not read from the disc. This was happening when it normally would check the media for errors. So, I re-burned a new disc using the same drive of the same ISO(which I had initially created from the original (now problematic) disk). The new disc worked. Maybe, just a very fragile disc. But, weird.
- Shutdown and reboot works. Sleep gives a blank (black), unresponsive screen. Have to hard reset.
- Had to run the installation, with the same options, multiple times for it to get it right. After a few installs, I was getting the gray screen asking me to restart the computer. I really don't know how I got around that problem. I just installed again without changing any options. Finally, when it worked, I had my ethernet cable unplugged. In the Customize list, I had chosen the nforce chipset 2/3/4/5 kext, AC '97, forcedeth, nvidia geforce 10.5.2 and nvinject 128 MB for my 6600GT graphics card. Name of volume: Leopard. I chose the EFI v8 plus MBR bootloader to make the "Leopard" volume bootable. I'm using grub to choose between my various OSes. SSE3 9.2.0 TOH Kernel chosen from the Customize list.
- Can only install from same IDE cable (CD and HDD)

- Install Method: Kalyway 10.5.2 (kernel 9.2.0 + usb patch because System.kext is by default 9.2.2 and should be 9.2.0)
- Integrated Intel® Atom 1.6ghz (HT) processor working (system think it's a Core Solo 1.6ghz)
- Realtek ALC662 audio working (Mic Not working yet)
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (QE/CI fully supported. It works like a charm!)
- LAN (i don't know... disabled in bios because in my dual boot, Linux gave kernel panic with this netcard) - LAN do work but after sleep lost IP connection, so suggest to fix with Fix IP.
- Six USB 2.0 ports working
- Two SATA ports and One PATA IDE working
- Sleep works
This is a perfect system! And really cheaper (54€)
Note: On-board LAN chipset does not work, most linux distributions also suffer from the same problem. Some distributions might not support video resolution over 1280x1024 out of the box. After patching with a different version of IntegratedFrameBuffer kext, 1680x1050x32 works fine but no 3D support.

No patching required. You _have_to use BIOS version 2.2 though. 2.1 will force you to use cpus=1, 2.5 (the latest) would hang the kernel at the memory prompt.

Display requires driver installation and modification of info.plist to work at full resolution and with VGA-out. Mirror function still doesn't work properly, but forces main display to VGA-out.
- Install Universal NVidia Driver (http://zack.phatoproductions.com/downloads/mac/NVidia-Universal-Installer.mpkg.rar)
- Right Click /System/Library/Extensions/NVInject.kext choose "Show Package Contents"
- Copy Info.plist to ~/Desktop
- Open Info.plist copy with Plist Editor
- Replace NVCAP string with 04000000 00000100 02000000 00000007 00000000
- Save copy of info.plist and copy back to NVInject.kext contents
- Change permissions of NVInject:
"sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVinject.kext"
"sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVinject.kext"
- Run Disk Utility and repair permissions on disk.
- Delete Extension Caches and Kernel Caches before rebooting
"sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions/Caches/"
- Reboot with -f just in case.

Used RT2500 "STA_CardbusPCI" Driver & Utility from Ralink Website - the Tiger version (dated 11-23-2006). Does not show up in System Profiler at all, but works if you disable ("Make Service Inactive") the wired ethernet port (en0). Also this was on an unmolested Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Install.

Works beautifully using the Ralink 10.5 drivers at: http://www.ralinktech.com.tw/data/drivers/STA_RT2860%20D-1.0.0.0a%20UI-1.4.8.0_2007_11_26.dmg
Doesn't connect as Airport, and must be configured using the Ralink Utility; configured as ethernet. Occasional dropouts, but cause unconfirmed. As a side note, this card works perfectly in Vista x64 as well, n-mode all the way!

Apparently Trendnet changed their wireless chipset in the 2.0 version of the card to Ralink RT2860. Card works if you use the drivers here Note: if you are going to buy this card off newegg you will get the 2.0 version as of 7/25/08. Also of note the ralink software is a bit clunky compared to apple's airport setup in the system prefs.

First install Realtek Drivers from http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Macintosh.html (USB RT2870) Restart with -f and -v look for a ralink driver being loaded. Then go to Network in System Preferences, hopefully it will appear. Start USBWirelessUtility and check for the device status. If it doesn't work, check that the RT73USBWireless.kext is really loaded. In terminal kextstat, and look for com.Ralink.driver.RT73 (1.1.7). If it isn't there try sudo kextload RT73USBWireless.kext in terminal. You might also have to add your ip settings manually in Network Preferences by clicking the plus sign above the lock and adding an ethernet device.
