This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

  • Using USB sound and IDE fix, the system is fully working and runs/behaves/updates just like a real mac with no hitches.
  • Install was very easy. Only drivers used are included in iATKOS_5i and no tweaking was needed after install (except activate QE/CI with osx86tools).
  • SATA in AHCI mode works great with vanilla DVD (IDE mode not tested).

EVGA 680I SLI LT Works with Ideneb 10.5.6 using Voodoo kernel, and sleep kernel. SATA works out of box and in fact I installed using an sata disk drive and sata hd. I also set up a raid array "not bootable yet". Sound is ALC 885, works perfectly with ALC choice in installer. All ports detected. Nforce ethernet does work using patch however I used a different pci card. 8800gts works perfectly with darwin patch or nvinject. Everything works perfectly but sleep. I could not get it to sleep at all.

LISTEN HERE, If you use at least 4gs of ram you will have random crashing. This is due to the applenforceata.kext It cannot address memory in 64 bits so it WILL crash. If you visit code.google.com you can obtain a patch for it to fix the problem. There is a free program called rember and it will test the memory to provoke a crash and test stability so you know it is fixed. Also if you want to boot from a raid array, disable raid in the bios. Install to a single disk. when you boot into os create the array like you would if it were a real mac. When you are finished use the restore utility and use your current disk as source and your array as destination. Then install the chameleon bootloader installer to the array but it still will not boot. When that is done go to your boot.plist file and under kernel flags type <string>boot-uuid=number here</string> and then your raid array unique identifier. This can be found in disk utility. GA-EG31m-s2 Intel G31/ ICH7 Use IPC Universal Final, no kernal selected (9.6 by default), no graphics card selected (i use geforce 9600 gso and used NVdarwin installer 1.2.5). Sound was not working but later fixed with alc888 using osx86 tools by pcwiz. I had issues with shutdowdown and time machine which I think were related to having an on board network card and a pci wireless I used efistudio tomake a string for my pci wireless and this fixed those problems mostly. Shutdow doesnt turn my fans off but time machine is flawless. Other issues were a buggy jumpy mouse which was fixed by downgrading to previous quicktime version using pacifist. Other issues unidentified proccessor I used AboutThisMac to fix it. Yes

Neither would install a boot loader after multiple attempts and various selections of drivers and BIOS settings. Since the OS would load with the install DVD in the drive, I installed Chameleon 2.0RC1 from OSX and can now can boot perfectly without the DVD in the drive (using iPC and Vanilla kernel). Could not get video to work properly (no hardware acceleration with NVinject 0.2.1. Also had issues with every ALC888 driver included with iPC. Used NVdarwin 256MB for video (EVGA PCI GeForce 7200GS), Intel ICHx SATA for chipset, Intel 82566MM/DC for LAN, and Azalia Audio for sound (without mic support though). Started with iATKOS 10.5.5, set ACPI SATA and GMA 950. everything worked, upgrade to 10.5.6 from Apple. The resolution becomes limited to 1024x768. iAtkos V5i (10.5.5) works OOB. Update 10.5.6 works from software update menu. After update fix disk permissions and you have mac osx 10.5.6. You will need Jas.10.4.8.GMA.950.Support.pkg to enable hi res after update to 10.5.6. My Hardware configuration includes HDD 2.5 and Laptop DVD R/W.   • USB mouse that I have plugged into a USB hub freezes if it is plugged in during boot or if I turn my printer on. No fix in site, but if you boot with it unplugged from the hub and plug it in once OSX loads, it's fine.
  • I was able to install with an ATi 4850 as well. To do this, do not install drivers during the setup. Download the 10.5.7 drivers for ATi 48xxHD card.
