This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for 10.5.6 builds only.
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

EVGA 680I SLI LT | Works with Ideneb 10.5.6 using Voodoo kernel, and sleep kernel. SATA works out of box and in fact I installed using an sata disk drive and sata hd. I also set up a raid array "not bootable yet". Sound is ALC 885, works perfectly with ALC choice in installer. All ports detected. Nforce ethernet does work using patch however I used a different pci card. 8800gts works perfectly with darwin patch or nvinject. Everything works perfectly but sleep. I could not get it to sleep at all.
LISTEN HERE, If you use at least 4gs of ram you will have random crashing. This is due to the applenforceata.kext It cannot address memory in 64 bits so it WILL crash. If you visit code.google.com you can obtain a patch for it to fix the problem. There is a free program called rember and it will test the memory to provoke a crash and test stability so you know it is fixed. Also if you want to boot from a raid array, disable raid in the bios. Install to a single disk. when you boot into os create the array like you would if it were a real mac. When you are finished use the restore utility and use your current disk as source and your array as destination. Then install the chameleon bootloader installer to the array but it still will not boot. When that is done go to your boot.plist file and under kernel flags type <string>boot-uuid=number here</string> and then your raid array unique identifier. This can be found in disk utility. Right click on array and then information. Thats it and if you have trouble visit,http://aquamac.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=hack1&action=display&thread=613&page=1 for answers . . . |

GA-EP45-DQ6 | Intel P45 + ICH10R | Installation RETAIL 10.5.6 (9G66)
|
Yes | Fully working but require these kexts Patched AppleHDA.kext, dsmos.kext, HDAenabler.kext, OpenHaltRestart.kext, SMBIOSEnabler.kext , kexts for PS2fix etc..... |
GA-EG31m-s2 | Intel G31/ ICH7 | Use IPC Universal Final, no kernal selected (9.6 by default), no graphics card selected (i use geforce 9600 gso and used NVdarwin installer 1.2.5). Sound was not working but later fixed with alc888 using osx86 tools by pcwiz. I had issues with shutdowdown and time machine which I think were related to having an on board network card and a pci wireless I used efistudio tomake a string for my pci wireless and this fixed those problems mostly. Shutdow doesnt turn my fans off but time machine is flawless. Other issues were a buggy jumpy mouse which was fixed by downgrading to previous quicktime version using pacifist. Other issues unidentified proccessor I used AboutThisMac to fix it. | Yes
GA-EP45-DS3L & -DS3LR rev 1.0 | Intel P45 ICH10 | This board is very compatible. It works nicely with 10.5.5, and 10.5.6. With 10.5.6, sleep shuts down the computer, that is the only bug so far. Other than that you can perform a full retail fresh 10.5.6 install with a real retail DVD with this guide. The guide uses a Core2 Quad 2.66, all hardware works fine except there are advantages to using the recommended network card. | Yes | Yes, with supplied kexts |
GA-EP45-DS3P | Intel P45 ICH10 | Installed with iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final

After installation, use Kext Help 7b and Taruga_Leopard_alc88x to get audio work. Then apply software update to 10.5.6. (Use RTL1xxx_1.02.pkg to fix Ethernet). (Apply Taruga_Leopard_alc88x again). Use EFIStudio to add AGP, Ethernet, HDEF. Done. | Yes | PS/2 seems not working with either PS/2 driver or x86ACPI] |
GA-EP45-UD3R | Intel P45 ICH10R | Install using iPC OSx86 Public (no PPF needed) 10.5.6: no kenerl selected (9.6 vanilla default), no graphic card selected (use NVDarwin 1.25 later - i use gerfore 9600GT), selected Intel ICH10 SATA, JMirconATA for JMircon IDE (You should choose a DVD drive with SATA interface because you won't get problem with JMicron IDE driver later), ALC889A but not working (have to use HDAEnabler.kext later),Realteak 1000, Patched USB driver, PowerManagement Package (Superhai packed), SATA Drive icon fix (new) - for sure :D, Dual boot time sync (if you're going to use windows/mac osx), shudown/restart fix, patch DSDT, SMBIOSResolver. I did not test the ethernet because i use the USB wireless adapter. I used Creative Audigy, so I just enabled ALC889A for a backup :P. | Yes | Mouse/Keyboard US working OTB with USB interface, working 2 Core (OC at 3.5GHz ~ still working perfectly) |
GA-EP45-UD3R | Intel P45 ICH10R | Install source is "iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 (Final).iso"

GA-G31M-ES2L | Intel G31 ICH7 | This board is SUPER compatible. I used the Boot-132 and retail 10.5.1 install with an upgrade to 10.5.6 (after installing the EFI strings for my video card). It works nicely with 10.5.5, and 10.5.6. With 10.5.6, sleep and shut down BOTH work. The onboard video works, but only at 1024x768. the NIC and USB both work out of box with nothing needed. The onboard audio works if you install the ALC883 patch. I chose to use the ASUS nVidia 9400GT 512 (info in video card section). | Yes | Yes with supplied kexts Although I didn't use the nic kext as the RLT111C worked out of box |

DG41TY | Intel® G41 Express Chipset with ICH7 | Install Method: XxX 10.5.6 Leopard Install DVD + NOTE: Integrated Intel Video [GMA X4500] not supported yet (During the XxX install, we opted for NO graphics drivers -- This got 1024x768 with no QE/CI). Used RealtekR1000.kext driver for networking with the Realtek 8111D. For audio on the Realtek ALC888VC, this package was used. It got audio out working, we didn't test any of the other inputs or outputs. We used the newer ICHx driver for the southbridge. | unknown/yes
DP43TF | Intel® P43 Express Chipset with ICH10 | iPC 10.5.6 + Driver for network, Audio. (shutdown, FireWire, USB, Sata working out of the box).. | yes/yes
DQ35JO | Intel® Q35 Express Chipset with ICH9DO | iPC 10.5.6+Intel82566MM.pkg for network, sleep/shutdown working out of the box. Integrated video not working. | yes/yes

Intel DG31PR | Intel G31 | Install Method: 10.5.6_Leo_install_Disc_Rev1, Onboard Audio Working (Choose ACL888 3 outputs), Onboardd Video Working (Choose GMA950) - Only one resolution - I believe that is no patch for the GMA3100 video chipset, Onboard Lan Working (Choose Realtek 1000), Two IDE Hard Disks (The smaller one used for Time Machine), Sata (didnt tested), Needed patch for time machine, it is not in the DVD (or i didnt found it). Working after the patch. | yes/yes
Intel DG35EC | Intel G35 with ICH8 | Install using iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 with default Vanilla kernel. Onboard Audio ALC888 and Onboard Ethernet Card works flawlessly (with Intel 82566 series). nVidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MB works fine with both NVInject and NVdarwin, didn't check the built-in video. Have issue with restart and trying to fix. 4GB DDR2 800 detected and Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz successfully identified. | yes/yes
Intel DG35EC | Intel G35 with ICH8 | Tried both iPC 10.5.6 Final PPF5 and iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 with Vanilla and patched kernels. Neither would install a boot loader after multiple attempts and various selections of drivers and BIOS settings. Since the OS would load with the install DVD in the drive, I installed Chameleon 2.0RC1 from OSX and can now can boot perfectly without the DVD in the drive (using iPC and Vanilla kernel). Could not get video to work properly (no hardware acceleration with NVinject 0.2.1. Also had issues with every ALC888 driver included with iPC. Used NVdarwin 256MB for video (EVGA PCI GeForce 7200GS), Intel ICHx SATA for chipset, Intel 82566MM/DC for LAN, and Azalia Audio for sound (without mic support though). I am also using the AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 800MHz SMBIOS, which matches my RAM speed. Initial shutdown/reboot problems; now solved using the included Shutdown/Restart Fix during the iPC OS install. Everything is working perfectly now except the mic jack. | yes/yes | no: requires Shutdown/Restart Fix |
Intel DP35DP | Intel P35 with ICH9 | Install using iPC 10.5.6 PPF5 with default Vanilla kernel. Onboard Audio STAC9271 has driver in install, but does not work. RAID not supported. JMICRON IDE PATA works during install, but neither legacy or new jmicron driver work upon installation. Onboard Ethernet Card works flawlessly (with Intel 82566 series) using driver during installation. nVidia GeForce 6500 GT 256MB works fine with NVdarwin, NOT NVInject. Restart works with included patch during install. USB causes kernel panic when mass storage device is connected. 4GB DDR2 667 detected. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz not identified. | yes with Chameleon, No with PC_EFI. | no. |
Intel D945GCLF2 | Intel® 945G with ICH7 | Install using iATKOS 5i (10.5.5) with default Vanilla kernel. Software Update to 10.5.6 works. Audio in does not work; front panel audio out does not work. Rear panel audio out and all USB ports work. Built in GMA 950 video works. "About" shows "1.6GHz Unknown".
Started with iATKOS 10.5.5, set ACPI SATA and GMA 950. everything worked, upgrade to 10.5.6 from Apple. The resolution becomes limited to 1024x768. Patch with JaS.10.4.8.GMA.950.Support.pkg that can be found in: http://rapidshare.com/files/43334579/JaS.10.4.8.GMA.950.Support.pkg.zip. -> resolution gets fixed. I use it as a multimedia streamer (stereo audio). Excellent for less that $100!. iAtkos V5i (10.5.5) works OOB. Update 10.5.6 works from software update menu. After update fix disk permissions and you have mac osx 10.5.6. You will need Jas.10.4.8.GMA.950.Support.pkg to enable hi res after update to 10.5.6. My Hardware configuration includes HDD 2.5 and Laptop DVD R/W. It works excellent and play Stream Videos/Music from FreeNas server to my son bedroom.Great Custom Mini Mac !!!! |
