Template:10.6.4

Note:
Please add whether your device supports QE, Quartz Extreme, graphics. Try playing a movie with Quicktime Player.

This is a hardware compatibility list for 10.6.4 builds. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.6.4 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Kernels are still not available. Use only vanilla if it is supported.

See the x86 software page for programs you can run without Rosetta.

Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, Sony, etc) .

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

Note:
  • Mine is the Best Buy model (I only mention this because I believe other G60JXs have slightly different H/W).
  • Don't forget that SL requires GPT.

See 10.6.3 entry here. All that's required for 10.6.4 is the combo update. Mysteriously, performance almost doubles over 10.6.3, according to Geekbench results.

Nvidia Grapics - I'll post the exact model within the next days

edit: Maybe I'm too stupid, but there is no model number - neither on the case nor in the BIOS
Well.. the grapics is some nvidia Quadro NVS 110M and I recently found out that the integrated Bluetooth device isn't working properly

First: Everything I've tested so far is running absolutely perfect! -> LAN, WLAN (only in 10.6.0 - after updating to 10.6.4 it stopped working), Sound, Graphics, Resolution Change, Keyboard, Touchpad - If you would like to convice yourself: here

Now to the Install instructions:

  • First: Special Thanks to leppy700m from InsanelyMac - everything of my instruction is based on his research!
  • Get my package of files: HackPack
  • before we start you should read my former written instructions about the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 - you can do this either here or on InsanelyMac or even in this Wiki: Using "myHack installer" with additional custom kext files
  • Well the installation on the Dell is pretty simple.. just follow my former written instructions in the link above, except these points:
  • After installing myHack to either the USB device or your final harddrive (you need to do this procedure two times! 1st: when you prepare the USB drive - 2nd: when you've installed Mac Os to your HD and executing myHack again), open the Terminal, login as root (sudo su) and delete all kexts in /Extra/Extensions by executing the command (of course you have to alter the paths):
    • rm -R /my/USB/or/harddrive/Extra/Extensions/*.kext
  • once you've done this copy the kexts from my HackPack into this folder by executing:
    • cp -R /here/is/my/HackPack/kext/folder/*.kext /my/USB/or/harddrive/Extra/Extensions
  • and the last command you need for today is to rebuild the kextcache:
    • kextcache -v 1 -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions

And that's the whole story.. not more, not less - if you've done everything right and have exactly the same notebook than I have, you're ready to reboot and enjoy your new Hackintosh

Step By Step update:

  1. If NullCPUPM already installed, this step can be passed: Install Disabler for AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext like NullCPUPM[7] . installed in the extra folder. then reboot
  2. Remove SleepEnabler.kext when using it. because SleepEnabler.kext can cause kernel panic if the match with the latest kernel version.
  3. Backup Kext with OSX86Tools (Recomended Give Name :Backup Kext_10.6.3)
  4. Update, the software can be directly used to update or download the installer here[8]
  5. Complete the update process immediately reboot.
  6. If there is a problem with Smooth graphics, Restore and use the Kext 10.6.3 earlier in the backup. (but before the restore, backup returned Kext 10.6.4 (Recomended: give a name Backup_Kext 10.6.4)
  7. Restart
  8. Copy Nvinject From S/L/E to Extra Folder
  9. Use Kext Utility
  10. Restart Again.
