Welcome to the OSx86 Project Wiki - the Official Wiki of OS X on x86!

Getting Started

Can't solve a problem or find an answer to your question? Our forums can help provide solutions to problems. Remember to search before posting!

  • If you're a developer working on porting your software, check out our Developer Resource Center for everything you'll need to begin making the transition.
  • Our users maintain a useful list of Installation Guides here. Our comprehensive list of X86 software is also very helpful!
  • Have some minor problems? There are a few tips here.
  • Pondering what brought OSx86 to where it is today, or perhaps just why OSx86 is the way it is? Check out our full OSx86 History. (NEW!)
  • If your hardware doesn't work, check our guide for tips. Still don't have any luck? Add it to the Incompatible hardware page so others can try to help you get it working.
  • Find the perfect hardware for your custom OSx86 computer.
  • Visit our TPM Resource Center for everything you've ever wanted to know about the Trusted Platform Module.
  • We've discovered that Rosetta uses TCPA/TPM DRM. Some parts of the GUI like ATSServer are still not native to x86 - meaning that Rosetta is required by the GUI, which in turn requires TPM. See the forum topic here.

Tips and Tweaks

  • Having a problem with your audio card? Is your USB printer broken? How about PowerPC apps? Our Tips And Tricks page covers these problems and much more..
  • If your OSx86 installation is running slowly, please check out our SpeedBoost section.
  • Darwine allows you to run Windows applications on your Mac OS X x86 system! Find the guide and a list of working applications that you can contribute to here.
  • Finally, SSE2 patches will help you get PPC apps working on older SSE2 machines.

News

This site offers you the very latest news about OS X and the x86 hardware it runs on. Please consider donating a small sum to help pay for the high costs of bandwidth. Anything you can provide is appreciated, thanks!
