In order to move to Apple's new Boot Camp Windows installation platform, you must first remove the 'XOM' solution. Follow these steps to get your Mac ready for Boot Camp:

  • Upgrade to OS X 10.4.6
  • Download the Firmware Restoration CD 1.0 or Firmware Update CD 1.0 (unconfirmed which one is required, try both)
  • If it fails to remove XOM, reformat your Macintosh hard disk using Disk Utility on the OS X Install Disc
  • Repeat the firmware upgrade/restore process, and reinstall OS X 10.4.6
  • Follow the Boot Camp instructions to create your Windows XP driver CD and upgrade your firmware
  • Install Windows
  • Enjoy!
